Announcement: MDF Mod to be released in the coming days

Recommended Posts

Malden Defense Forces

Malden Defence Forces is a Faction modification for Arma 3. This project will attempt to add a realistic armed force to protect the island of Malden realised in the free DLC; Malden 2035. Alex and I plan for this to be our first co-production to allow us both to improve our skill set. Malden Defence Force, AKA MDF, will be a strong military force able to defend itself and the islands within its maritime borders.
The MDF will have a Maritime Guard, an Army and an Air Force. With our first release slated to come out just before or a short time after the release of Malden 2035 DLC it will only include simple stand in representations and a custom camouflage and branch. Follow on updates will include the fleshing out of each branch of the military and special operations units for each branch. This will include new weapons made by Zeealex and possibility of new vehicles as well.

After the conflict on Malden between the Soviet separatists and the American Forces subsided 1985 leaving Malden in an impoverished and diminished state. The elected officials deemed it necessary for the country to have a standing Defense Force to avoid the events of the flash-point conflict of 1985 repeating themselves. As the nation expanded its economic power through its resources like fish and creation of luxury goods such as wine. The military grew with it to allow for proper protection of its newly exploited assets. This led to several arms companies to get involved including Robertsen Waffenfabarik GmbH Limited which actively pushed forward weapons development projects for the Malden Defence forces, which included it first mass produced weapon system, the CWS68, entering into mass production in 2022 and issued to troops of the Malden Army in the following year.

Development

Note: The staged release is subject to change as the project progresses

Stage 1.
-Initial Proof of Concept

- Creation of Faction with light role Infantry and Reconnaissance units.

- Creation of a unique woodland camouflage suited for Malden's climate using images from Malden's terrain.

- Creating suitable stand in equipment for the units mentioned above to be replaced later with unique equipment.

Stage 2.
-Fleshing Out

- Development of the CWS68 primary service rifle based off of the MR-C Prototyped by Crye Associates will begin  immediately following stage 1 release

- Creating suitable stand in vehicles for units mentioned above to be replaced later with unique vehicles.

- Configuring Squads and Branches within the MDF and making it Zeus-compatible.

- Creation of a Malden National Flag as well as an MDF flag to replace stand in.

Stage 3.
- Further expansion of equipment and weaponry

- Hopeful completion of CWS68 and implementation into the current MDF units.

- Development of unique body armour, helmets and other unique equipment for staged release upon completion for Units mentioned above.

- Development of secondary and tertiary camo patterns for the MDF including a Marine or maritime Camo and a Deployment Camo with matching equipment for each.

Heya ladies and gents,

ZeeAlex and myself have been working on a initial proof of concept for a Malden Defense Force modification to be released either today or the up coming days using a unique camouflage made using the Malden 2035 map that was released earlier today. We hope to have it done so so stay tuned, and an official MDF mod thread will open up showing off what we have done and what we plan to do in the coming future for the mod.

Looking forward to the response this announcement and feed back once we release the pack in the near future. Below we have a small teaser to show our work thus far.

Zeealex / Pilgrim

Sounds interesting, what units will we see? I guess i will have to alter my Nogovan Armed Forces timeline to say that Malden is no longer part of the Nogovan Republic :dontgetit:

@R0adki11: Yeah i was planing on trying to get a basic Arma III faction, so we would have the general combined arms load, then go from there. I think Alex and i have agreed to kinda mimic the Altis Forces Rearmed mod where @toadball slowly expanded each item that he brought out. Were going for a unique faction so if things go the way they should there will not be a single thing left that is vanilla Arma.

Update 0.1

Hello with the recent release of other "MDF" mod(s) and while we are still organizing our team, we will be pushing back our release a few days. The most that it will take for us to organize the mod and release in proper fashion will be the first week of July (Next week) However that hasn't stopped some of our members on developing and planing out what we will be releasing.

In 3D Arts we have started the development of CSW68 based off of MR-C prototyped by Crye Associates. @zeealex and myself sat down and pumped out some concept art and she has already thrown the idea into 3DS Max going off of some reference images and line art done up by myself.

On other fronts @R0adki11 has started work on our more coded side of the mod to get it ready for release next week and teaching some people to maintain and edit it themselves (mostly me). We also have Jeza, and Slatts helping out in the PR and Vehicles development side of the mod so we could later release with no BI items at all. That is our goal for this mod. Were going to hopefully in the coming months have all of our stuff made by us and not by anyone else.

I hope to have some development images coming to you soon but for now Jeza got some better looking photos of what we have ready for you now.

(Top Left: Section Leader with an Auto rifleman, Top Right: Patrolling near Houdan, Bottom: Recon Specialist in unknown location)

I apologize for the delay in release and we are working to develop a good bit of art for you guys and gals and we will release it when we get it done.

As always, any help or assistance is appreciated, if you want to join along feel free

From Pilgrim and the rest of the MDF dev team

yep! it is! we've renamed it the CW68, and yeah, the stats will be similar but there will also be different variants (marksman, GL, and an OICW type system built from it) and much more customizability over the Ghost Recon games :D

(-)     "Will be a strong military force" - where they will get people enough? It's small island with a few villages! Probably such countries will use some mercenaries instead.

It will be more reallistic if there will be a island coalition army.

"conflict on Malden between the Soviet separatists and the American Forces" - WAT? Separatists? There was damn soviet invasion with heavy armored vehicles and aviation (and Guba)!!!

(+)     textures are nice.

The soviets in OFP though, weren't on a official soviet mission, Guba lied to them and said they were at war, and this is fairly close to the arma 3 verse as far as time line goes, even Malta small island country has a military or Cyprus for that matter.

Yeah, it was unofficial soviet operation. Soviets full in resoluteness decided to capture some new lands, but when the americans burned their asses, to prevent a big war with USA they, as always, told "it's not our guys, and we even don't know what they are doing there". It's USSR. If they knew that guba not under their control why they didn't send their army to calm down his ambitions?))

"Malta small island country has a military" - look at the map and the density of the buildings in this Malta and compare with villages(!) of Malden.

If ALL vilagers of this island will join the army maby they could gather some company!)))

Looks great! The camouflage suits the terrain really well :)

Are the TRG rifles placeholder by the way? Would be weird to see Israeli tech used by the Malden forces unless it's backed by them.

Other than that it looks great! (once again haha) always nice to see people expand the base game!

Reminder that the real MR-C prototype was chambered in 6.8mm, not any of the calibres ghost recon claimed it was.

it's difficult to read but you can see here on this official image that they say it's chambered in 6.8mm caseless
