Having a weird glitch where the optics aren't showing up at all on any Base Arma 3/DLC/Apex guns or retexture thereof. The SCARs,SA80s,AW50, and shotguns work fine, but that's it.

There's been a fair amount of progress so far! Also, a new poll! Please vote, I want to know what you guys would like for a... future addition. (EDIT: The RCWS-30 also has Titan missiles)

Anyways! First off, Altis variants of the bunkers, dugouts, and ramparts actually blend in now! Also, there's new sand camo nets!

etLfDIP.jpg

Along with the new sand camo nets, there are now tropic ones for NATO forces on Tanoa. Supply crates' textures have been improved too so they don't look like total AIDS vomit trash.

And finally, the police offroad has received new textures. Also, Gendarmerie van!

Those bunkers and dugouts finally look appealing as opposed to the vanilla ones! Great work on another awesome update Night :D

Alright, this is what I get for getting too excited and not doing research beforehand... Neither the BPPU or RCWS-30 variants will be added. My apologies.

However, the vehicle is not being cut and instead will have an armament that will make it stand out more from other APCs. As a result I also won't have to butcher the vehicle's interior. ;P

So I just realized that the F-35 has a working HUD again. I'm not sure, but the textures also look better?

Anyway, you've now released the best F-35B version to be found in Arma3, congrats!

What are the sensor ranges on the F-35? I seem to recall that you based many values for it off of the Black Wasp II. The Black Wasp II IMO has a gimped IR sensor:

http://armedassault.wikia.com/wiki/F/A-181_Black_Wasp_II

That can only track ground targets at 2km, compared to 3km for the Shikra/Gryphon, and 4km for the Neophron/Wipeout

FWIW,  this gimping of NATO IRST relative to its counterpart also extends to the Blackfoot vs Kajman, with the Kajman having a 50% greater detection range... Since your mod tweaks stock assets, maybe you could buff the IRST of the Blackfoot and Black Wasp (and if necessary, the F-35, though I haven't checked its IRST range yet)

The visual sensor for the Blackfoot is even more gimped, 1.5km against ground targets compared to 3km for the Kajman (assuming the wiki is correct)

BTW, I see your Gendarmerie assets... while it may seem a bit excessive for a "police force", I'd like to see a police/Gendarmerie Offroad+50 HMG, and also Police skins for the Strider and its variants. In other words, I'd like to see some heavier equipment for sort of a SWAT force, after all, they are in opposition to some quite well armed and organized criminals

The F-35 does indeed have a HUD now, and in the next update (or current one, it might've leaked) it'll be a proper HUD. While it is the same as the Black Wasp II's, the IRL F-35's HUD is actually very very similar. All I have to add now is a VTOL indicator.

Sensors will see some love eventually. Also, not sure about the armed Offroads (can't have a police bar IIRC) but a Hunter was added for the Altis police force in the upcoming update. :)

I was thinking of commenting on the VTOL indicator, but it seems that you're on top of that.

I was remaking some of my older missions using black wasps with the F-35. I also downloaded a standalone LHD

(this one: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=677642222 )

And set up a "showcase" mission of sorts, with the LHD packed full of hardware (I even crammed a blackfish onto its deck). I quite like adding some of the AAF units to NATO - granted one could already essentially do this with init editing and stock textures:

Its nice to have then in olive green for tanoa though. Its much better than dropping off sand colored Marshals from the Blackfish

On another note

Do you have any "change log" for the vanilla assets that get modified?

There are icons for your mod on almost every unit it seems. I know some 6.5mm miniguns got changed to 7.62, the Blackfoot had its ammo count lowered to 500 (I assume one could change it back by using the remove magazine command, and adding the vanilla "2000Rnd_20mm_shells" or "1000Rnd_20mm_shells" magazines. Is the one it has now named "500Rnd_20mm_shells". The laser designator is nice (I used to add it anyway by init editing). What else changes?

Another great update by night! Tomorrow will be one hell of a day.

The preset looks swell by the way! Any possibilities for a script version too? Would be awesome for mission makers :D

With a couple of PPE I believe you can even create a sort of the old lighting

 arma3_screeenshot_pcgus_02_exclusive_4.j

Also, some of the things I've found during the search:

Spoiler

KN-Wp8cb53o.jpg

MX (Sand camo)

Arma3_dsadasdasdsa.jpg

Some kind of an old bunker? The new one looks way more different, maybe there's still a texture for it!

Would you consider sharing some of this stuff with the CUP team. I think they'd be interested in the olive skins for blufor vehicles + the Strider and Gorgon, medical arma3 APCs, the F-35, and the autonomous mortar.

On another note, I think syndicat could use some "love", and since the Arma 2 models are freely available for a reskin (and you seem to be good at making nee textures), may I suggest:

BTR-40 reskin for Syndicat... actually... the model is already fairly olive, maybe just change the gun for an M2 like what they use on their offroads:

Spoiler

Arma2_oa_btr40_mg.jpg

To me at least, its the closest aesthetic match to that of a "Narco-Tank" or improvised armored vehicle that some drug cartels make, and thus seems like a good fit for syndicat.

Right now they have 2 air units, but neither one is armed, some light CAS vehicles could be nice. The AH-6 model from Arma 2 is essentially the same (since you can't modify the Arma3 model, IIRC)... although maybe no modification is needed, perhaps just rename the AH-9 to something like M-900 (armed), but disable the weapon pylons so its just the 2 miniguns (or maybe enable pylons, but the only options are 7x HE orAP shriekers- no DAR/DAGR/Scalpel/ASRAAM)

Right now I use addWeapon to give the Caesar BTT a forward firing 2mm cannon and mk 82 bombs, but it would be nice to actually see that its armed. Since arma 3 models are locked, maybe use this one from Arma 2:

Spoiler

Arma2_oa_an2.jpg

Add 2 pylons for forward firing rockets or dumb bombs, and a machine gun or auto cannon, and it could be a versatile syndicate CAS and transport aircraft

I'd suggest no RWR/countermeasures/IR sensor/that sort of thing for the syndicat stuff though

No plans to give Syndikat any brand new vehicles just yet, but there's still possibilities. That said I wouldn't expect anything.

Ah, I thought there might be if you were working on Police/Gendarmerie vehicles. I'd call it a low priority as well.

I think the BTR-40 is available through the CUP mod, and as I mentioned, its texture is already fairly suitable for Tanoa. The AH-9 also works fine. I can just stick in a Syndicate pilot into an Empty vehicle, give it a basic shrieker HE loadout (maybe just a single pod of 7 rockets, definitely not 2x DAR pods with 24 total, certainly not DAGRs). It already has no RWR or countermeasures, so its easily taken down by Titan AA.

I haven't checked if the AI can fly the Caesar BTT well when I add weapons to it, but if it can, that should work fine. Its not like one ever gets that good of a look at enemy fixed wing aircraft flying around, so the lack of weapon pylons or gun barrels wouldn't be very noticeable.

Also, barring 3rd person view, once you're in the cockpit, you also won't notice those missing details.

I wanted to find some more info from the 2011 plot. Here's something for those of you who want to know about the things in this mod and maybe more about the old lore:

Spoiler

https://web.archive.org/web/20111125160211/http://www.arma3.com:80/arma-3-overview/personnel/

Storyline

After years of intense warfare against Eastern armies, Europe has become the last stand for the battered NATO forces. On the verge of being driven into the sea, NATO command embarks upon a most desperate measure. In the hope of seizing what seems to be a well-guarded military secret, Operation Magnitude is launched.

A small group of Special Forces and Researchers are sent to a Mediterranean island deep behind enemy lines. However, the mission is compromised and the task force destroyed, leaving Cpt. Scott Miller washed ashore upon the hostile island. In his effort to carry out the mission, he will face the dangers of modern warfare, an unforgiving environment, and the consequences of his own decisions…

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Personel

Cpt Scott Miller

CTRG Security Team A Commanding Officer

British national, born June 22nd 1992 in Killingworth, Northern England. Married (Kate née Greggs, 39), 1 child (Susan, 7). Enlisted into the Royal Marines in 2010, went through Commando training after his service in Afghanistan. Completed his studies and the Officer’s course in 2016. In 2021, he joined Special Boat Service and soon became one of its troop commanders. With SBS, he took part in the NATO joint operations in the Pacific Theatre, Middle East and Turkey. After recovering from a severe injury, he was transferred from active service until drafted to the newly formed Combat Technology Research Group in 2032. In CTRG, a small NATO taskforce established to gather the intelligence on the opposing forces’ advanced weapons technologies, Cpt Miller commands one of the CTRG’s security teams.

Col Martin Novak, MSc. PhD.

CTRG Field Team Specialist

Canadian national with Eastern European roots, Dr Novak is a physicist with particular expertise in reverse-engineering, although his original specialty is particle physics. Born April 2nd 1995 in Vancouver, divorced. Dr Novak studied at MIT with a military sponsorship, later took part in military arms research. Following the outbreak of hostilities, he went through extensive language training and became a member of a military scientific board which later lead to the establishment of CTRG. During 2032-2033, he went through extended military training, SERE course and several Special Forces survival and clandestine ops courses to become a full member of the CTRG field team.

Sgt Evan Illing

Deep Reconnaissance Team “Ice-8″ Commander

American, single, born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa March 15th 2001. Pursued a military career his whole life, he climbed the professional ladder due to his indisputable qualities, capable leadership and daring execution of missions behind enemy lines. He became a member of the 10th Special Forces Group in 2025, just to be deployed in the deadliest hotspots in the defense of Europe: Iraq, Caucasus, Turkey. After the European defenses broke, he and the rest of SOCOM elements were transfered to Great Britain, where Sgt Illing was assigned another duty. He became leader of a deep reconnaissance team, one of many under the European branch of SOCOM. In 2034, he was captured by Iranian troops during a mission on Crete, but was liberated by a joint NATO taskforce operating in the area.

Sgt Illing commands the last surviving team of operation Ice Shard, the EJSOC’s attempt to gather information about the Iranian weapons test range on Limnos. His team, codenamed “Ice-8″, is still stationed on Limnos as the critical asset of operation Magnitude.

ODEVIL

Intelligence agent, CIA

One of the principal HUMINT sources for operation Magnitude, long-term resident in the Mediterranean. It’s assumed the source is genuine, however, its nature is a high-level secret.

note: Hubbard

Georgios Akhanteros

Regional Director of Limnos Island, New Greece

Greek national, age 60-65, marital status and children unknown. G. Akantheros is the head of the puppet government on the Limnos island. In the past, he was a mayor of Myrina for several terms (as a member of a right-wing party), ran local businesses and owned several hotels and other tourism-oriented companies. After war broke out, he gathered remnants of the Greek police and military personnel on Limnos and became a dictator and a warlord of no-man’s-land. He now runs a fairly capable paramilitary force and a petty regime in Myrina and its vicinity. According to the available resources, he tries to maintain basic security on the area under his control, maintains a self-sustainable economy with occasional Iranian support, and systematically fights against the concurrent smuggling networks, the resistance movement and the independent marauding groups. Unconfirmed Intel claims “cleansing” operations in the refugee enclaves.

note: Tyrant

Col. Vahid Namdar

Military commander of Limnos

Colonel Namdar, a career officer of the Iranian Armed Forces in his forties, is Supreme Military Commander of the Limnos task force. During his youth, he took part in The Lions Movement, joined the army and became an airborne officer; he led one of the Nationalist commandos in the Esfahan Coup d’état in 2024. His military record encompasses the Iranian campaign in Europe. In the First Battle of Brno, his airborne regiment assisted in the breakthrough in the NATO defenses. In 2030, he became a staff officer on an unidentified post in the European Theater Command in Izmir. His transfer to Limnos suggests an ongoing important military operation or facility development. According to several sources, Colonel Namdar lately became a subordinate of General Ostad Javeed Attar, one of the chief officers of the Iranian military research and arms production.

Note: General Ostad (title for academics, adopted by NI) Javeed Attar – research director, P8H8 during opposition, Red Pegasus

A. Kourou

Local warlord

Little is known about this person. ODEVIL suggests he may be a leader of an organized crime network supplying arms and goods to the resistance groups on Limnos, with his base in the Eastern part of the island.

note: Antigona

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Factions

NATO

Only deep reconnaissance, special operations and field intelligence services personnel may be encountered in the area of operation.

Support for your mission is scarcely limited.

Iran

The presence of Iranian troops is estimated to consist of a battalion-sized combined fighting force with conventional capabilities. The highest concentration of forces is estimated in a newly constructed base adjacent to a former NATO/Greek air force base (ICAO: LGLM) and objective Omega. Majority of the force is designated to a base perimeter protection and counter-insurgency campaign to fend off the threat of the local resistance movement. There are also indications that base security may be partially provided by Russian-based private military company.

The equipment and order of battle of the Iranian troops is reportedly compliant with the common Resource Zone Protection Force structure, including the enhanced defensive, ELINT and SIGINT capabilities. Due to the proximity of the Turkish coast, we estimate the force to be fairly well supplied.

Avoid contact if possible.

Militias

Several HUMINT sources claim the southwest of the operational area to be in the control of a local warlord. It is indicated that the said person controls an approximately battalion-sized paramilitary force maintaining law and order in the surroundings of Myrina. The intel source further indicated the militias are connected to and supported by the Iranian military force on the island, cooperating in a counter-insurgency campaign focused on neutralizing the resistance movement.

Militias are armed mostly with light weapons, support weaponry and vehicles, including armor and support helicopters, acquired from the OPFOR ally.

Cooperation with this group is not advisable under any circumstances.

Bandits

A large number of armed petty criminals is suspected to be present on the island, either as part of various paramilitary groups, local populace or originating from the fairly abundant number of refugees from Turkey, Crete, Cyprus, Balkans and North Africa.

Armament of the bandit group may consist of infantry weapons including explosives and light anti-armor and anti-air missile capabilities.

These groups are most likely to leave our troops undisturbed, however, they may take advantage of the situation of evading, escaping or wounded NATO personnel.

Resistance

The presence of a local armed resistance movement is suspected, presumably sprouting from the pre-war organized crime structures. We expect this group to be hostile towards Iranian troops and Myrina Militias, whilst their relationships to smugglers and bandits may range from a neutral stance to a cordial cooperation. Little is known about the strengths and capabilities of this network.

Little is known about resistance equipment. Only light armament is estimated, with the possibility of additional capabilities captured from the other belligerents and looted from pre-war military depots of the Greek army.

Cooperation with local resistance is possible but not advisable due to the high security risks.

Smugglers

According to Agency reports on the current situation on Aegean, a large network of smugglers and traffickers operates on the margins of OPFOR-controlled territories. These parties comprise of local criminal bosses and petty warlords, using a general shortage of supplies to run a gray economy on the Aegean islands, Enclave of Chalkidiki, Turkish coast and Crete. Smugglers are reportedly tolerated and cooperating with many of the local Iranian commanders.

The smugglers are supposed to use mostly light weapons. Smuggling networks use a wide range of light vehicles, hover-crafts and speedboats.

Cooperation with smuggling parties is possible only with the direct authorization of the theater intelligence command.

Civilian populace

This populace is significantly low in numbers, inhabiting mostly the south-western part of the island, falling under control of either the Iranian military authorities or the local paramilitary force. Farmers often inhabit the remote farms and distant villages in the countryside and in the mountains; however, the defensive safe zones established by the Iranian troops across the island has left most of the island’s surface uninhabited since its capture in 2025 (see Environment – History for further details). In the past years, Limnos became the transition location for refugees from Mediterranean coasts of Asia and Africa, who formed several isolated colonies or blended with the local population in and around the city of Myrina.

It is estimated that the amount of small arms in possession of the non-combatants may be fairly high.

Cooperation with local populace is to be avoided, unless critical conditions (evasion, escape, severe lack of logistic support) occur, as HUMINT sources indicate a high portion of the locals are loyal to the paramilitary authority (see Militias). Due to the constant and long-standing threats perceived by the locals, surprise appearance or improper behavior may result in an attack on NATO personnel.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Personal Armament

You will be equipped by the state-of-the-art weapons technology, ergonomic load-bearing equipment and the most advanced protective gear.

Prepare to operate wide range of personal weapons: pistols, ultramodern assault and sniper rifles, machineguns, missile launchers and even some experimental weapons.

Multitude of gadgets may give you critical advantage in the battlespace. Explosives may give you the necessary edges over the superior enemy numbers.

Adapt your gear to the mission at hand, choose a fitting uniform and balance the gear capacity, protection level and weight.

Soft Vehicles

Expect to use the abundance of soft vehicles. Drive anything from motorbikes and quadbikes to heavy supply trucks.

Many military vehicles sport additional armament, reconnaisance means and other advantages, e.g. floating or increased fordability.

Some vehicles are sparse in the area of operation; if they break, tow them to a repair station.

Unmanned Ground Vehicles are frequent inhabitants of modern battlefield. You may expect small reconnaisance drones as well as independent fighting machines.

Armored Vehicles

Armored vehicles are more scarce, which is counterbalanced by the increased fighting capability and crew survivability.

Main battle tanks usually provide additional active protection.

The most recent weapon platforms using some of the newly developed arms technology can be expected to appear in the battles.

Artillery

Fire support will be maintained by the self-propelled howitzers, self-propelled multi-launch rocket systems and by mortars, either static or deployed on APCs.

Your firepower and tactical possibilities will be extended by the precision-guided ammunition, flares or smoke screen.

Static Weapons

Several machineguns and grenade launchers are available to serve as defences. Some of the weapons are based upon the newest research in the arms industry.

All the stationary armament can be dismantled and transported by troops or vehicles.

Some of the weapon platforms can be remotely controlled or may operate independently. Save your troops for real action by creating automated defences around bases and perimeters.

Aircraft

Helicopters come in many types and variants, covering the whole range of attack, combined or transportation roles.

Fixed-wing aircraft consist mainly of the ground attack jets. Due to the sparse take-off and landing possibilities, VTOL aircraft will be available.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles can provide valuable intel or provide additional fire support. Some are so small they can be deployed on a squad level.

Surface Vessels

Small but agile military speedboats are at your disposal. Military vessels are designed for the coastal raids and patrolling, they are usually armed.

Also, variety of civilian ships in varying condition may be found along the inhabited coastline of Limnos.

Submersibles

Last but not least: embark on a Swimmer Deliver Vehicle and infiltrate the seeming impenetrable defences under the surface of Mediterranean.

SDV provides not just the transportat, but also a powerful observation periscope.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Introduction

Your area of operation is the island of Limnos, once an important Greek air force base in the Mediterranean, now a remote hostile territory deep behind enemy lines. Still partially inhabited by a fraction of the original Greek populace and refugees from the Eastern Mediterranean, the island bears many scars from the fierce battles between NATO and the invading Iranian troops in 2025. The large airfield and the adjacent military base now serves as a basis for a fairly large Iranian force servicing the objective Omega.

Geography

Limnos, spreading over an area of almost 300 square kilometers, is situated in the Northern Aegean (39°54’04″ N, 25°14’25″ E). The terrain of its North-Western part is remarkably hilly, gradually lowering Eastwards into the flatlands; its highest peaks reach to almost 400 meters above sea level. The island’s climate is Mediterranean, with particularly strong winds and average temperature, slightly colder than Greek mainland, mild winters with the occasional snowfall.

The most inhabited and developed areas can be found on the South-West of the island. The current population (excluding military personnel) is partially scattered amongst the isolated farms and villages, estimated to be approximately 2,000.

History

Limnos played a vital role for many cultures throughout history. There are many traces of antique history to be found across the island. The island became particularly important to Allied troops during the Gallipoli campaign and later in 1918, when the armistice between the Allies and the Ottoman Empire was signed in the city of Moudros.

The most recent history is partially unknown due to the general lack of records from the contested territories after the outbreak of hostilities in the 2020′s. During 2025, the island was defended by the 27th MEU of the United States Marine Corps, elements of which successfully repelled Iranian attacks for several weeks despite the sinking of the MEU’s amphibious assault ship early in the campaign. In the following years, the island has been under the administration of Iranian armed forces. Around 2029, the puppet government of the New Greece was created with the support of Iran; on Limnos, local government collaboration with the local Iranian military was established (see Factions – Militias). In 2030, the first incidents of armed resistance against the New Greece government and Iranian troops was recorded; ever since, Iranian troops and N.G. militias are engaged in a low-intensity COIN campaign.

Situation

Most of the formerly inhabited areas are currently unpopulated; highest population density can be found in the vicinity of Myrina and along the Southwestern coast. The biggest settlement is currently the military base, inhabited only by Iranian troops.

The basic infrastructure is mostly decayed due to combat damage and no maintenance. Limited support is available in the housing of Myrina: electricity, intact sewage systems, drinking water distribution. Local economy is based on direct bartering on local products, mostly vegetables, genetically modified corn and olives, meat and fish. The services are limited, probably strongly dependent on educated or trained individuals as in similar societies throughout the European war zone, there is a general lack of hi-tech equipment, medical supplies, clothing and luxury goods. Due to regular supplies from Turkey, fuel and ammunition are well accessible in the New Greek areas.

Majority of the island is in the hands of hostile forces. In order to maintain the security over the area, many observation posts and checkpoints were established, many of them in remote parts of the island. Several resistance groups are most probably hiding in the mountainous regions far from the frequently used routes and military outposts. Iranian troops are supplied by air and sea, the base provides power generation, water de-salter and other life support.

Security level is generally high in the areas under New Greek militia control or under direct surveillance of Iranian troops. Distant areas may be under the control of various paramilitary factions.

Also, barring 3rd person view, once you're in the cockpit, you also won't notice those missing details.

>.> could just give them armed AT-802's the airframe is Available to civilian purchasers and can be armed. seeing as syndicat has CSAT backing getting arms from them would be doable.

Considering the CZ-805 the FN Scar and the Masada which the MX is based on are all based on the same weapon program ... maybe they got the CMMG trades and chose to abandon it for the CMMG MX rifle?

Sure, that would work too, but where would the model come from? Making a new model is a lot of work. Using a model from another mod requires the maker's permission. Arma 2 assets are freely available for use though.

Using a civilian crop duster as a light attack aircraft makes sense, but one wouldn't even need CSAT backing to get it. Tanoa has a lot of agriculture and airfields, it wouldn't be out of place to have a few civilian crop dusting aircraft for syndicate to seize and convert.

On an island group like the "horizon islands" (of which Tanoa is part of and not so far away from the other islands, according the the backstory), there should also be quite a few "puddle jumpers".... which makes me wonder, has there ever been a sea-plane mod for Arma? could it be done?

So I see that there is a new HUD, but I don't see a vector indicator, and I have the impression that the cockpit view is very "foggy". I don't know if it was always like this, or its a product of the new HUD.... but, here's a screenshot from the cockpit of a black wasp II:

(the ratio is a bit distorted

And then the F-35

As you can see, the view from the black wasp is much clearer, is there anything you can do to make the view clearer? You'll also notice in those screen shots, that the F-35 hud is very hard to read because the view is so whited out.

And, just for fun, a shot of one internal F-35 bay after some pylon editing:

There is a bit of clipping, but I doubt you'd ever notice it in game unless you went looking for it
