pierremgi 4826 Posted March 19, 2017 Hi, The last Arma III update started then paused due to a lack of space on my SSD. (18Go required, 13Go remaining). I'm asking here because I can't erase any more other data on my SSD and i failed to choose another installation space, on my HDD, because Steam warns there is an update required!.. Yes, of course. So, is there any solution to stop the pause, recover a situation for a possible shift between SSD and HDD spaces? Thanks
Primaate 5 Posted March 19, 2017 (edited) Time for a bigger SSD maybe..... and maybe consider a M.2 SSD (PCIe interface, from your MoBo. Its 4x faster than a SSD via SATA) $450USD gets you 500GB. You can in the meantime combine different drives to 1 large one using 'Macrium Reflect' software. I'm not sure about a combination of SSD and HDD however, you'll need to check that. ViperAleks 7 Posted March 20, 2017 I do not use SSD for ARM3A installation. I have Steam with all games installed on HDD drive. Then I move ARMA3 data files ( ARMA3\Addons and ARMA3\Expansion) to SSD drive into ARMA3_cache folder. After that I use windows command mklink to make a link from HDD drive\Steam\ARMA3\Addons to my SSD drive\ARMA3_cache\Addons with the moved ARMA3 files. Now I have all ARMA3 data files located on SSD drive for the fast read operations but game thinks that they are located on my HDD drive. When Steam updates data files they are actually updated on my SSD drive. Using this approach I can control myself how much data I want to locate on SSD drive rather than install the whole game to SSD drive. mklink /d "h:\GAMES\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Arma 3\Addons" "c:\Arma3_cache\Addons" H: - HDD C: - SSD
pierremgi 4826 Posted March 21, 2017 I asked what i thought a simple question: how to stop the "impossible" 1.68 update due to a lack of space in SSD and how migrate Arma in HDD for the future versions. Thanks for your answers. I didn't understand all but, for thus who could have the same problem, here is my solution: - In steam ARMA, properties betas, go back to 1.66 with Arma3Legacy166 code; - migrate all files via properties, local files, move install folder - now, you have space to shift from beta 1.66 to last update 1.68.
