Huge FPS drops due to sounderrors 64bit

Recommended Posts

Well, I have been experiencing huge FPS drops while in a vehicle. And that is only since yesterday and it doesn't matter if I use mods or just play vanilla, it happens every time.

This is my most recent logfile, apparently it is some Sound Error, but it only appears when I drive/fly fast... And well, as someone who is often a pilot this is really frustrating.

11:17:31 Starting mission:
11:17:31 Mission file: tempMissionMP

The sound gets broken and starts cracking while the FPS just hits 0 and then it continues like a hiccup. Does someone have a solution?

I have observed the same behavior also. Completely vanilla. Anytime I am in a vehicle, at every certain time interval the FPS grinds to near halt and the effects sound and the VON sound "jitters" creating a not very nice effect. Happens only when I am running x64, and  have played in 32bit without this happening.

I have the same problem. When I'm running the game in x64 I have big sound "jitters" and experience heavy freeze-lag (2-3 seconds at a time) when driving a vehicle (of any kind) in first person.

This does not happen when running x86.

I have a Logitech G35, which is a USB-headset - and I think this is the problem. Because when I try with another set of headphones (which are using 3,5mm instead) it works as it should.
I run the Logitech 8.91.48_x64 gaming software, and the headset are using the 8.90.101.0 driver.

Spoiler

Obersving similar behavior:

I have recorded a video showing what happens

As for me, I have a G933, the problem happens only on 64 bit and did occur during the dev-branch

Strange, I don't experience this problem in x64.exe.  For what it's worth, I have Sound Samples to 80 in ArmA and my sound playback device set to 16bit, 4800Hz.

Will keep changing settings to see if I can replicate it. *Edit* Cannot duplicate.

Seems like it is an issue for logitech headsets.

I have the G930 and experience serious problems. My Sound Samples seem to have no effect(standard on 128) and my sound playback device is set to 16bit 44100Hz

Possibly, I do have a G933 myself. I just find it strange it would cause so many problems with memory too

I have SoundBlaster Go Pro and I have same errors. Didn't get them in dev version. Weird.

Having the exact same issue as the video posted, I use a Razer Kraken pro and this issue has only started happening within the past week. Hopefully someone will find a fix!

Good Morning,

I have the same problems, but if you switch from the 64 bit client to 32,
the problems are no longer present. But what should not be a permanent solution.

This is an old problem, I managed to get rid of it changing the number of audio channels from audio card or headphone settings, from 8 channels to 6 or 4.

I tried to repro this stuff with my G930 with no luck.

My LGS is 8.78.129 and headset says it's driver version is 8.76.152

Windows 7 here.

I got it too. Is there a bugtracker ticket on this?

Using LG G930's and its only happening in 64 bit Version.

Did not happen in Dev-Branch.

I have the same problem with my Plantronics RIG500HD. In 7.1 and stereo Mode. I hope they will fix it soon!

I also have this problem with my sound and have gone through a number of steps suggested from different sources to try and rectify this (all to know avail) that is until I changed my windows audio playback properties from 7.1 surround to stereo then test again up to 5.1 surround. The problem ONLY occurs when using 7.1 surround. No mods just vanilla and NOT using a head set (Yamaha amp with respective speaker setup). Clean install of game verified through steam etc..

Some testing I've done today. (windows audio on 7.1 16 bit 48 hz, in game audio samples seemed not to effect testing)Load single player vehicle showcase steal car drive down road switch between 1st and 3rd person audio and frames DO NOT glitch(for me the problems are ONLY in side the car). Get out get in switch perspectives while driving all is good, but here's the funny bit. View the map while IN CAR the audio and frames glitch(have to reload game to return to a all is good state). Tested if viewing the map outside the car then getting back in induced the glitch and it DID NOT.

Further testing, if you look at the map while in 3rd person(while driving) then go back into 1st person while driving everything is fine, the minute I check the map while in side the car the audio and frames glitch.

Last bit of testing was when I jumped into the gunners seat and cycled through all the infrared options and then back to drivers seat(1st person), this also caused frames and audio to bug out(I did not view the map at any time during this play through). Like ive said previous all the problems are in 1st person perspective in vehicles with 7.1 surround in windows audio settings. 32 bit does not have these problems for me and the only work around for me (in 64 bit) is setting either stereo or 5.1 surround in windows.

Just adding myself on here.

Logitech G633 headset with 7.1 USB -and- Logitech G35 headset also using 7.1 USB -vs- My Samsung TV's audio with HDMI cable
AMD FX 6350 Sixcore weak CPU, I know
Geforce 1070 My lovely

16 Gbs of RAM
HDD 7200rpm I know it's not solid state.

I noticed the issue when I started up the engine to a Hellcat in Arma, as the blades of the prop started to move my FPS started to drop, followed up with a crackling noise. 3rd person, no issue.

I did a quick google search of "noise, low FPS in Arma 64" found two reddit posts about it on day 1, so I left it alone thinking it was a common bug. Now I'm starting to see it's a strange isolated issue with a few people.

As others have reported 32bit Arma removes the bug.

Using my Samsung TV's audio as the default audio device, no lag.

YouTube link for the issue: https://youtu.be/fOr3tFiKVBQ (I have very slow internet, uploading may take awhile.)

*EDITED Fixed Still broken*

Put away the candy, I tested this with the Hellcat helicopter for my 7.1 fix, but when I jumped into the CSAT To199 Neophron (CSAT Jet) The nose and lag were back.

So I looked up this issue, and I saw everyone specifying "7.1", well on my G633 I can disable the 7.1 and just use surround sound. It appears this fixed the issue for me. I hope we can get a real fix, but for now atleast the game is playable in 64 bit.

(See image below) If you have settings like this, set them to "Off" or just normal surround sound.

Just a follow up from myself, installed the hot fix and the problem still existed so I went to see if there was any new drivers for my NVIDIA (970)card. There was so installed and checked to see if problem was still there and it WAS NOT so the drivers that were bad for me were  378.92 the one that fixed the problem are 381.65.

I have been experiencing the same problems myself and when I read the above post I was suspicious since I'm not sure what the video drivers would have to do with this problem. I have a GTX1080 card and was running v378.92 drivers as well. I updated to the 381.65 drivers and there was no change in the behavior of the 64bit Arma executable. When inside a vehicle, within 30 seconds or so, the sounds starts clicking and dropping out and huge pauses in the game occur. Oh well, sure was hoping this would be the fix. Since it only happens with the 64bit executable I fully suspect BIS will have to address the issue.
