colonelhartigan 50 Posted February 10, 2017 Great to see someone picking up the work of representing Bell's Huey ever since GrumpyRhino very sadly went MIA. If you're not familiar, GrumpyRhino was in the process of porting and upgrading the same model - here is the thread: https://forums.bistudio.com/topic/184398-medium-utility-helicopters/#comment-2907081 I'm excited to see how this progresses. I have quite a passion for the airframe. I assisted GR with some minor stuff (a texture, some weapons configs) and if you require those skills, I may be able to lend some time. I am not sure what degree of accuracy you plan to hold for the aircraft, but if you are interested in displaying a true-to-life representation, you probably know that Bohemia's model has some creative license taken. GR corrected this by, as far as I can tell, borrowing the tail boom, rotor mast and blades, engine and transmission cowling, nose, and other elements from Bohemia's broadly licensed UH-1H from ArmA 2. A similar option may save you some time, albeit risking some quality. Feel free to shoot me a PM if you think I can be of help. I work on the Huey's little brother every day and I consider myself very knowledge about both aircraft.

However my Huey uses the Take on Helicopters fuselage but with heavy editing by the tail rotor to the cockpit.

dragon01 902 Posted February 12, 2017 I see you ported the civilian jets from TkOH, as well. Any chance that we'll see them released? They would be great set dressing for Altis and Taunus airports.

As the CUP thread's mention of "a "UAV" like pilot view" implies, the TKOH Data Pack's fixed-wing models don't include any interior view LODs at all -- not even those previously seen in the Arma series (An-2, C-130J, DC-3) -- so anything more than "great set dressing for Altis and Taunus airports" will need more work.

TBH, I don't see any reason for player to flying those lumbering beasts. It's not exactly like we have a map with more than one big civilian airport. While I can see people making missions which have the player arrive in one of those, most of my ideas include them as set dressing only. Without big airplanes, the airports like the one on Taunus look completely desolate.
john111 76 Posted February 14, 2017 This looks stunning! If Í may make a suggestion; there are a few helos in arma, could you try to give the way they are flying ´some love ,at best they fly a bit iffy, some have reported. I love that you will give these particular helos for us to play with,I just wish for a better sound and effects package for the guns-part of these flying things. I don`t think I know what these will sound like, we will see. If you will add Fastrope and a working hoist, this will be perfect! Love that you take the time to do this. Can`t wait for it! Please add as much as you can do , real life must come first, I`m grateful for you`re time. I don`t know if this is the helicopters or the Ai ,but I would like them to be able to go like this in formation ,if that has anything to do with the design:https://www.facebook.com/snngpage/photos/a.130077473742096.34397.126649087418268/425259037557270/?type=3&theater Some type of way to go high and low and to be able to sync them flying at lets say 50% slower speed than the Little Birds 200 meters below. Been trying for that before.A Speed Bugg nobb would be really handy. Hope to see progress pix, everyone will love this mod ,keep up the good work.Could you try to make Trim work in these ? I would like to be able to fly hands off ,thanks. Just 2 things for wishlist:No mandatory Sling Load DLC to be able to use this feature, not everyone got it. Some way to use the Spot light with hat on joystick. Thanks again for You`re time and effort.

Sounds like you're looking for unitCapture and unitPlay regarding the formations - no matter what the author is capable of, ArmA is never going to give you that kind of cinematic precision simply from waypoints or some other relatively generic means. You can mess with flyInHeight and speeds in the waypoints, however unitCapture seems like your panacea. About the trim: from a realism standpoint, if you take your hands off the cyclic on a teetering rotorhead helicopter not equipped with at least a two axis autopilot, your life expectancy decreases roughly as an inverse square proportion to time. You've mentioned the "Sling Load DLC;" I reckon you mean the helicopters pack. I have not purchased this pack, but Sling Load works fine for me, I believe in keeping with Bohemia's philosophy of releasing features (eg weapon resting from the Marksmen DLC) for free and content (the fancy rifles) as paid. No worries here, I think, but a valid concern for me as well. Have you heard of "DCS Huey?" Right up your alley ostensibly.

The Slingload feature does not require the Helicopters DLC, it's already available to the base game's helicopters and to community-made helicopters as well.
