Tankbuster 1747 Posted January 22, 2017 I've often wondered how the the 3GL works, I mean, how do you get a 3 round grenade launcher magazine? While looking for something else, I stumbled across 'superposed load' where the cartridges are essentially lined up one in front of another in the barrel. Is that how the 3GL works in the game? Tankbuster 1747 Posted January 22, 2017 The sound of each round firing is slightly different, presumably because the barrel length gets longer as each round is discharged.
pooroldspike 129 Posted January 23, 2017 I used to lurv the MX 3GL to bits because I could pop off 3 grens in rapid succession to stomp the enemy target real bad, but since the v 1.66 update it's become too heavy to carry if I'm also carrying a launcher and a rucksack full of goodies (I can only walk not run). So I either have to switch to a lighter rifle (but none of the others have rapid fire GLs, drat), or take less goodies so I can run again (sniffle) PS- I play on the KOTH servers so I'm not sure whether 1.66 is to blame, or maybe the KOTH people have tweaked something, what do you think? (For some reason i haven't been able to log into the KOTH forum since before christmas to ask there, and my emails to their support address go unanswered) Below- my boy in the good old KOTH days before I had to dump the 3GL for something lighter in order to run-
kklownboy 43 Posted January 23, 2017 the weight issue is Bis. any loaded ammo will double the weight.
Tankbuster 1747 Posted January 23, 2017 That explains why my favourite VA saved loadout suddenly became too heavy. I stuck with the MX 3GL though by saving weight elsewhere.
Von Quest 1163 Posted January 24, 2017 So is the damage the same vs the single shot then? I've always wondered that.

Config-wise, the 3Rnd stack inherits the same ammo parameter value (G_40mm_HE) as the 1Rnd standalone grenade. The only difference between the two is that the 3Rnd version has a count value of 3, thus giving it 3 shots in a magazine vs. single shot of the latter. So no, there's no difference in damage dealt per grenade between either of the 1Rnd/3Rnd magazines.

You're wearing a full plate carrier, launcher, the 2nd largest rucksack (no doubt loaded to the brim with ammo) and an assault rifle with attached grenade launcher. Any sensible soldier in your instance would dump that bag or launcher at the first sign of contact.
Tankbuster 1747 Posted January 25, 2017 Yes, the 'backpack dump' is one of my favourite tactics. Have enough kit in your uniform and rig so you can fight effectively for a while, then have a couple of magazines for the rifle, the UGL, and a FAK or 3 in the backpack. When the fan hits the shit, dump it, thereby increasing your stamina and recovery rate and return the backpack for more gear only when you need to or when you want to relocate. Back on topic, I still love the 3GL enough to compromise my loadout in other areas, specifically, a lighter vest/plate.

We've all got our favourite loadouts, I personally load up with as much as I can carry and still run with, I'd feel naked without it, but other people prefer going into battle light. Do you play on servers with stamina/fatigue disabled?

No, I play on the King of the Hill servers (1200 hours over the past 9 months) and they haven't disabled stamina/fatigue and I wouldn't want them to because it's realistic just as Hamlet said- "Who would fardles bear, to grunt and sweat under a weary life". Sure, i trail behind my faster-moving lighter-loaded teammates, but I don't dive into a ditch like they do when they see an enemy tank or jet approaching, I simply unsling my launcher and engage with a smug grin on my face bigger than a wave on a slop bucket, I like being known as a "Missileman" rather than an ordinary grunt..:) And at other times when we see enemy rifle fire coming from a window, my mates dive for cover and start screaming "Where's Spike and his goody bag??" and I can either put a missile through the window, or sneak round the back and lay a satchel charge to demolish the building with the bad guys in it, because the enemy pose no threat if they're mush..:) PS- what servers do you guys play on, I'm always on the lookout for other servers to have a crack at..:)
