A-6 series of 2/4 man aircraft

Recommended Posts

hello there

Great work.

Illoustrious Intruder, hmmm.

Btw, u are aware that the prowler has actually a crew of 4?

pilot, navigator and two ecm officers. Ofcourse the fuselage and cockpit are modified accordingly.

another thingie, the large ECM pods, very often fitted underneath prowler wings have small propellor like fronts, and thats exactly what they are. They drive the generators in the containers, either as a main powersource or as a APU kit, i dont remember anymore.

Its the kind of thing that, if added as a animation (they start spinnning around take of speed or something), would be the icing on the cake :-)

keep modding!

Topcover.

Thanks for the information, but if you'd had read an earlier post, you already know that the EA-6E Prowler is going to be made once the A-6E Intruder was complete.

I've already got the ECM pods done (which only one per hardpoint can be mounted, 5 total) and have a good supply of information on the EA-6E.

But both won't be 100% complete till start of next year, I'm going away for Xmas.

Those the Mk82,83,84 All look WAY too big remember that each square in o2 Means one meter so that may help some. smile.gif<span id='postcolor'>

Here's the measurements I used to make the Mk-8X's from.

There maybe a small difference between the true measurements and the models, but not much.

And before anyone says it, I choose the Conical Fin, as the others I didn't like or am unable to animate at the moment.

Hey DragoFire, great to see someone who really researches their addons.

Those birds look awesome, can't wait for the full release.

You've probably already got a ton of applicants, but if you need any Beta testing, I would be more than happy fubar@virtual-mail.com.

Keep up the great work. xmas.gif

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned here before, but have you noticed that in the heavy bomber version when you pull up the landing gear, they come through the wings. You can see the wheels on the top side. Also, if you start the game flying, the plane will have its landing gear down, and then you have to choose action "gear down" and then "gear up" to get them into proper position.

Keep up the good work! Can't wait to get the final version for my Vietnam missions smile.gif

This problem has been fixed in the current inhouse model.

Have fixed a few things, the cockpit is still being worked on at the moment.

I've added three new payload models to the following;

Rocket Gunship ( carries 6 LAU-10 5inch FFAR launchers, each holding 4 rockets & 6 LAU-61 2.75inch FFAR launchers, each holding 19 rockets)

rocketg.gif

Heavy Rocket Bomber ( carries 6 LAU-10 5inch FFAR launchers, each holding 4 rockets & 8 Mk-83 1000lbs freefall bombs)

hrb.gif

Attack Bomber ( carries 14 Mk-83 1000lbs freefall bombs)

ab.gif

Heavy Bomber ( carries 5 Mk-84 2000lbs freefall bombs)

WARNING DO NOT DROP BOMBS BELOW 100M, AS BLAST WILL DAMAGE YOUR AIRCRAFT!!

hb.gif

Intruder Bomber ( carries 28 Mk-81 250lbs freefall bombs)

ib.gif

The new payload models are the AntiShip (armed with Harpoons), late era missile carrier (armed with Mavricks) and an early era missile carrier (armed with Shirkes).

Beta file avaialbe here!

Please note that this is a 6mb+ file

Early-era missile carrier,shrikes?

Aren't they ARM's used by Wild Weasels like the thunderchief before the AGM88 HARM was implemented?

Or am i completely missing the point as usual?

Yes, the Shrike was a anti-radiation missile. It was used w/ the AGM-78 Standard ARM during 'Nam to take out commie missile sites.

I had fun flying this addon. I thought it could use more decals though. I liked the texture. I liked the flight. This will be a definite favorite from here on out. All you need is the cockpit and its set. I tried attacking a russian ship that i got from an addon and that sucker was so powerful, it didn't explode for anything. Not even a full volley of bombs. Run after run I kept showing back up and it was still there. I used the anti ship missile and the stinking ship still was there, even after I had a lock on using all four missiles. I'm going to email the pauk class ship addon guys and ask if they can dumb down the armor some.

I've updated the AGM-84 "Harpoon"'s damage, if you can provide me with the name\location of the ship, I'll test the date and balance it as required.

Have also added the GBU-10E(2000lbs)/12D(500lbs)/16B(1000lbs) Laser Guided Bombs.

The weapon delivery system has been updated also, so now when a mission maker wants to change the weapon load on any A-6E, all that's required is to unload the magazine and load in the desired payload. wink.gif

I'm currently working on a working cockpit, but have found a limited number of poor quality images, so if nayone has any photos of the Intruder or Prowler cockpits can you please attach them to this topic.

Each version of the A-6E will have it's own textures, based on a real life air-squad's paint scene, so if you want one done put a image up of the paint job and the name of the squad.

biggrin.gif

On a side note, I've done the targeting turret, which is already to go once BIS update the code to allow Planes to have turrets.

I wonder if the real Intruder has a downward looking camera. If it does that would be cool to implement into this game to be able to see kinda where the bomb is going to land. As for the ship not exploding that was a bug that missiles go through the ship. I find that a major bug. Anyhow there are other ships out there. But I mean this was the big russian battleship. Is it at all possible to include a jamming device on this Intruder to where the radar image of it will disappear when jammers are turned on? Not only that but the jammer is effective within a certain range. Oh and this needs a target warning buzzer. If you can pull off a jammer then this would be just like the real Intruder.

Edit: If the real Intruder has a downward looking camera and you implement it into the gunner role of your model then I now see why you're trying to get a turret on the things underbelly.

It has a turret under the nose which has a Laser Des./IR/UV and something else mounted in it. It has full 380 degree rotation and a min +5 degrees and max of -90 degrees. The current bombing scope should be usable.

Nothing I can do with the Russian Battleship then. If you send me a link to the PBO of it I'll look into it a bit more.

Jammer feature would have to be done in the mission and not the model. To Jam an enemy radar you'd need to use a JAMMER Pod or five wink.gif . I'm going to be including in the next beta one A-6E with 2 JAMMER pods on it. So if you can find the script to JAM radars, we can make a mission.

Not sure what the scirpt is for this, I think someones done a chaff script that maybe modified to do the job.

I once had an idea of a gunner operating a rotating laser designator in an aircraft and providing laser illumination for itself, so that it could drop LGB's, but then i heard someone say that you can't have turrets in fixed-wing aircrafts. I'm not sure if this is true tho.

It's true! confused.gif

You can only mount them on a Helo and soldier only. mad.gif

naw m8.  . .the chaff and flare. . its the same thing in game. .what it is is basicly a big shield (if u will) that the missel hits instead of the aircraft.

and btw the chaff was my idea integrated into the F/A18 by my good buddy hudson wink.gif

What if you made holes on the invisible chaff/flare model, so that it wouldn't be 100% sure?

The chaff system dosent allways work. Its about 80% effective and alot of the time when it does work you take splash damage. It actually works out to be a rather effictive but not overly effective addition to the plane. Only bad thing about it I see is that it dosent work for shots incoming from the sides or front of the plane.

I'm half remodeled the cockpit and have started a new set of textures.

Teh Laser designator won't work on anything other than a Copter or Soldier, someone (can't remmeber who) tried to mount on to a APC with no luck.
