That slovak camo looks more like an upscaled MARPAT recolor rather than project honor. replacing the coyote in and green with tan, the brown with that weird puke green, and the black with brown would probably produce the best result.

Yeah, I know it's not exactly the same, but the camo (PH) is just lying around, I kind of want to use it for something, and that seemed like the closest match I could find of a similar camo in use by a SOF group.

Also, unrelated, I found out how to view statistics on WS, and found that the faction overhauls are by far my most popular mods, with several at 90-93% percent positive ratings, so I might finally start working the NATO, CSAT and AAF overhauls.

I've been delaying them because of them being much more work compared to other factions, usually taking a week or two instead of around 3-6 days to make.

Nice to hear about the vanilla factions getting an overhaul! I assume NATO is going to more like the U.S. Army, and CSAT being more like China/Iran styled?

This mod is a total replacement of the Altis Armed Forces, bringing them more in line with modern day equipment, weapons and uniforms.
It works in the official Arma 3 Campaign and custom scenarios that use the AAF faction will be using the new faction as well.

The Faction-

The Altis Armed Forces overhaul is focused on bringing the AAF forces a more modern-day appearance, loosely based on the Hellenic Armed Forces of Greece.

The Greek Infantry are armed primarily with the HK G3A3 rifle, in both 'tropical/wide grip' versions, and standard versions. THey wear Lizard type camo uniforms, with IOTV plate body armor and MICH helmets, to keep the style of the units consistent with the original AAF.

Standard sidearm is the M1911, with the M249 SAW in 5.56 NATO being the standard autorifleman weapon- the SAW with it's lighter ammo gives the army more sustained firepower compared to a 7.62 NATO MG, as the G3 battle rifles and it's ammo used by the infantry forces are very heavy and unwieldy, but gives them incredible stopping power against enemy soldiers, being able to easily stand up to enemy forces in body armor or at longer ranges, despite many of the G3's being older models and lacking optics. Marksman use an accurised G3-SG1 rifle with a scope. Standard AT weapon is the N-LAW launcher.

The HK53 5.56 Carbine version of the G3 is used by many of the second-line units or units not in direct combat, due to it being much lighter and more handier than the full-sized battle rifle. The carbine is a very small weapon, the size of a MP5 SMG, but it has the power of a 5.56 rifle, making it still useful at range if needed. It is used by medics, officers and crewmen, and other supporting units.

Specialist Elements-

The AAF have access to a special forces diver team, who are armed with modernised HK33 5.56 rifles, sporting optics, IR lasers and silencers that are much more advanced that what the regulars have.

Supports-

Supports come in a range of forms, from basic mortars and HMG/GMG teams intergrated within the infantry forces to small amounts of European armored vehicles, such as Leopards, FV-510's and Fennek MRAPs.

UAV's are also available to the faction, providing recon and limited guided supports to special forces units.

Faction has full Editor, Zeus and ALiVE support (faction name IND_F ) Also supports ACE3 Medical system.
It totally replaces the INDEP AAF faction in editor, Zeus, ALiVE and all scenarios played when the mod is enabled.

Downloads-

Steam Workshop- http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1076246390

Armaholic- http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=33008

Notes-

No new units yet, but I am considering an update that would add 'Recon' units, in OD uniforms mixed with some Multicam, and more modernised rifles, similar to the SF divers- is that's something you guys want added it can be done, otherwise it will stay just as the current pack.

any chance for some vehicle replacements for AAF (less 2035 more 2015) ,and other vanilla factions  or is that outside of your scope? ( edit only for AAF really there is already a mod that replaces NATO and CSAT with RHS factions)

Yes, I know of the RHS replacements, that's why mine use NIA/SMA/VSM, as another option.

I had attempted vehicle replacements in the past, but the problem I had with them is that they didn't work in the official campaign or downloaded missions, so I kept the original vehicles just to make it easier.

any chance of changing the FIA replacement packs ammo from M855A1 EPR to default Arma 3 5.56 STANAG  currently FIA can one shot most units with body armor (using a bunch of mods RHS included so it might be a bug on my end)

They should be able to kill CSAT a bit easier (that's why I gave them M855A1 in the first place) but it should not 1-shot kill through armor unless at close range.

Against a standard CSAT soldier (with default fatigues, no Tactical Vest) at 200m, M855A1 will kill in 2 rounds, and within about 50m will kill in one round, to the upper-chest. That would be 753 M/S velocity at 200m, or 913 M/S at 50M, which is within the 1-shot kill range, assuming no armor on the CSAT soldier. Adding a Tactical vest boosts their damage resistance slightly, bring those ranges down a little.

Against an AAF soldier (or other normal soldier with Lvl 3 or Lvl 4 armor, which means most mod armies due to lvl 3 being the standard chosen for most units) at 50M, M855A1 will kill in 2-3 rounds to the chest, and at 200M that stays rather constant up until around 4-500M, where it moves to between 3 and 4 rounds, because the velocity has slowed to 219 M/S.

Against a RHS Russian yeah, it's a one shot kill at normal fighting ranges but that's strange, because RHS armor is displayed as being LvL 4 plate, which is the heaviest armor in the game short of the super-heavy explosive vests.

I tested the same thing with Vanilla BI 5.56 because the result was so weird, and it also goes right through it, all the way up to 6-700M, which is the point where it becomes a 2-shot kill.

Are you using any sort of damage modifying mod, or ACE?

Because either that's what happening or RHS body armor is balanced terribly for base-game BI ammo. I know it has had issues with other mods values before, but SMA and RHS both use the same ballistics data, so they should be on-par with each other.

I've contacted some people I know within RHS to ask about this. I'll get back with the answers as soon as I get them.

EDIT- It was a bug, and fixed in a RHS update.

ya i wanted to just delete my last post but couldn't figure out to, any ways ya the latest update seems to have broke RHS armor and i didn't notice intill i tried out your FIA replacement pack and was one shoting Russians i incorrectly assumed it was because of the ammo they had and not a glitch from RHS

Re-designed front page, added an image to each faction and improved some descriptions.

Factions are now grouped into 'categories' based on the same layout (SFF / SFF-R / Overhaul ) as the Workshop Collections.

Soon (TM)

Also a note- my university courses are going back soon, so there will be a bit of a slow-down again, but I'll keep working on new factions and updates when I can.

I'm thinking options for both, but once I start more than just concept work I'll let people know.

I'd say NIArms would be the best way, seeing as they've got the MG3 and G3, which are mostly standard among Iranian forces.

Wouldn't their standard rifle being the G3 overlap with the AAF? Maybe use the 5.56 HK33 instead?

I took a bit of liberty with the weaponry because I thought giving them G3's would make them too similar to the AAF.

The Infantry are LOOSELY based on the UAE (yes, I know IRL they are allied) infantry forces, with AK74M's and desert digital camo- I felt the desert digicam keeps the brown tone and high-tech 'feel' of the CSAT forces but it's more realistic than the hex-cam.

The uniforms provide NO inherent armor bonus, with most of the infantry in chest rigs or lighter body armor.

The 'Urban' /Guards CSAT forces have been made to resemble the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, with Woodland camo, access to some ex-soviet body armor, and armed mostly with AK-100 series rifles.

CSAT Recon forces have been tooled up to look more SOF like, with Opscores, Zenitco and tactical AK74's, and better armor than both infantry and Guards units.

Standard MG is the MG3, based on it being used by Iran. On a fireteam level a basic model with 50 round belts and no optics is used, while in SOF or in dedicated MMG teams a more advanced version, with rail kits, optics and 100 round belts, is used in smaller numbers.

Standard AT is the same as vanilla (I think it's a good weapon and is used IRL) with the MP443 Grach as the standard pistol. The PP-2000 and T-5000 are used in specialist roles, along with the SVDM and VSS.

I'll get release post ready over the next few days, polish it up and get pics, and then it will be out.

Like all the Faction Overhauls, will work in all missions and the official campaign.

Regarding the AAF- They use the HK33 for Naval SOF and some of the more elite guys already, so I decided not to use it for CSAT.

I suppose if you put in to context what the CSAT is and put it in to current-ish day, AK-74s make pretty decent sense. The AK platform has deep-rooted history in pretty much all of the members of CSAT, and Russia sells them a lot of equipment. Additionally the AK always sells the "we're the baddies" look.

On the other hand, part of me also feels that their original weapons make enough sense, the Katiba is an Iranian KH2002 with RIS and the CAR-95 is a Chinese Type 95 with RIS. The vanilla guns are like the "A2"-s of their respective weapons, aside from the rechamber in to fuuuutuuuree caseless 6.5 ammunition.

despite the KH2002 being a really cool gun it was  never actually adopted  by Iran or exported out side of Iran, the Iranian army still uses there old G3`s, the IRGC uses Zenitco AKM`s and there local made M16/M4 clones. and Iranian special forces like there MP5`s like its 1980, along with what ever new showpiece weapon they have that will never see front line service

Yeah, although the KH2002 was never really used, given that CSAT is ficitonal and exists within an alternative timeline, you can make up all sorts of things like that the project was resurrected and the updated firearm was pushed in to service, or whatever.
