I'll have to ask him for permission first. If I get an affirmative reply it can easily be done.

Thank you so much! I want to have as few dependencies as possible and that old mod that has been updated or bug fixed in ages would be great to get rid of!

On top of that, if you get permission you can use it in your Civilian Faction mod to make middle eastern civilians!

Also, quick question, are you just gonna leave it as Americans or throw in some Euro countries in the mix?

I hope the CTRG keeps some of the weapons from the base game for this overhaul, since it can be seen as prototypes used by a Black Ops Unit, or the G36 from either Toadie or the RHS: SAF mod

Are we talking the 556 G36 or the 6.5 G36?

6.5 seems more experimental than the 556s, which have been around for a while.

I was going to be keeping CTRG with similar kit, likely still HK's, just with new uniforms and such- The HK's kind of make up part of their identity and I want that to stay intact. I was considering making them British based or maybe even in Project Honor or another, more exotic camo. I also know VSM is working on a new camo pattern for jungle fighting I may consider using. ;)

I severely doubt they will work in the Apex campaign though because of the loadout select, but they should work fine for normal missions.

Unrelated, but all the weapons and armor of CTRG is contemporary- HK416A5's and HK417's, with Opscores with additional Chops armor and Cyre CAGE armor vest, it's just the thermal concealing clothing and the splinter camo pattern that is more futuristic.

NATO is mostly US forces, with Infantry in OCP with M4A1's, M14 EBR's and M249 SAW's.

Recon SF teams and Combat Patrol squads are loosely based on ODA Green Berets, in Scorpion Multicam with Mk18's, SCAR-H's and Mk46 / Mk48 MG's.

Some single units are in normal (non-US) multicam, such as the marksman unit with the SIG, but there are not whole non-US squads.

This mod is a total replacement of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation units, bringing them more in line with modern day equipment, weapons and uniforms.
It works in the official Arma 3 Campaign and custom scenarios that use the NATO faction will be using the new faction as well.

The Faction-

NATO soldiers have been changed into a force resembling the United States Army, with more comtemporary weapons such as the M4A1 Carbine replacing the MX rifle. The standard uniform is in OCP pattern Multicam for all infantry units, with most units having LBT6094 vests and MICH helmets. Cyre Gen 3 uniforms were used as the base uniform design to keep it consistent with the original design of the NATO forces.

The M249 SAW in 5.56 NATO being the standard autorifleman weapon, giving the individual fireteams more suppression ability compared to the original MX-SW IAR rifle. Marksman carry a 7.62 NATO M14 EBR with a medium range scope. Standard AT weapon is the N-LAW launcher. Standard sidearm is the Walther P99.

Specialist Elements-

The Recon SF units have been loosely based on the US Army ODA Teams 'Green Berets' and are equipped differently to the standard line infantry units. They carry the more compact Daniel Defence Mk18 rifle as standard, often supressed, and have the FN SCAR-H as a heavy battle rifle and DMR, with support from a Mk48 machinegun, a 7.62 conversion of the M249 SAW that grealy improves the range and accuracy of the weapon, but is in only limited use in SOF units. Standard sidearm for Recon SF soldiers is the FNX 45. Tactical. UAV and JTAC (Joint Terminal Attack Controlers) are intergrated into the SF ground teams to provide CAS and reconnaissance if needed.

The Assault Diver teams have been re-armed with HK416 assault rifles, respresenting a basic SEAL Diver team from SEAL Team 10- it's not as accurate a portrayal as my existing SEAL mod because the Overhaul is attempting to keep some of the original feel to the units.

Combat Patrol squads are similar to the Recon SF teams, and are also in Scorpion camo, but they have more green and OD equipment and weapons as it provide better camo for most areas of Malden- They are equipped primarily with OD Mk18's and supported by SCAR-H's, Mk48's and M60E4 machine guns. Standard sidearms are the M1911 and FNX 45. Tactical.

Supports-

NATO Forces retain all their original support assets, from Merkava MBT's, Oshkosh M-ATV MRAPs and many other ground vehicles, with air support from AH-6 and MH-6's, RAH-66 Comanches and CH-47 Chinooks.

A-10's and FA-18X's provide fixed wing ground attack and air-to-air interdiction, respectively.

Important Notes-

The faction is fully functioning as a total campaign replacement, but note that Kerry, the named SGT's and Miller are unique units, and cannot be changed. The British CTRG Team 14 squad, including James with his M14 EBR, have been left intact to make them appear more unique.

Known Bugs- Showcase- Infantry gives you a MX rifle instead of a M4A1.

Faction has full Editor, Zeus, MCC and ALiVE support (faction name BLU_F ) Also supports ACE3 Medical system.
It totally replaces the BLUFOR NATO faction in editor, Zeus, ALiVE and all scenarios played when the mod is enabled.

I attempted to try and keep the 'feel' of many on the units consistent with the original NATO units, with as many of the unit silhouettes (meaning headwear and helmet color, uniform style and vest size/bulk) intact where I can, but some units were tweaked slightly. For example, the NATO EOD units have more advanced kit, such as mk18's, compared to the regular infantry, because IRL, at least from what I've seen in pics of US Navy EOD, they get rather advanced gear due to hanging alongside SEALS and other SOF units.

IMPORTANT NOTICE-

If you wish to play through the campaign with all the Overhauls enabled, make sure to start on Mission 2 'Situation Normal' and not 'Drawdown 2035' - SGT Adams appears to be bugged only during the start of Drawdown 2035 but it makes the mission non-functional. All other missions appear to work fine.

I've been playing some of the fantastic Callsign Minotaur ( http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=835526985 ) campaign recently, with the Overhauls on, and took some pics.

It's working fine so far. :)

Onto some Factions-

Would people be interested in having any of the below?

Saudi Arabian (Infantry and SOF) -

They would look rather similar to the CSAT Overhauled in appearance, but the SOF would have NATO weaponry.

Belgian SOF-

My only problem with these is that they look rather 'Generic Modern SOF Group' with Multicam, Opscores and body armor- their most distinctive item would be their armament of SCAR-L's.

ION Services/ Generic PMC Company-

I am considering updating the 75th Ranger Regiment mod to remove the small PMC element, and instead expand them in size and scope to become a standalone faction- It would not be really focused on any particular PMC company or time, but would likely cover between 2007 and 2017.

CIA SAD and 'Ground Branch'/ SOG-

Still planned, will release around the same time as the ODA.

US Army Special Forces Operational Detachment Alpha, the 'Green Berets'-

Still planned

"Task Force Orange/The Activity"-

Still planned

Slovakian 5th S.F.G-

Backburner for months now- I only had a single image that I really liked the look of that I was going to base the faction on, but I feel like it would not be good enough.

NATO Pacific Overhaul-

I believe the NATO Overhaul also applies to NATO Pacific units, but I have not done extensive testing of this yet.

OPFOR FIA and INDEP FIA Overhauls-

I don't know if these are possible to do (these factions are added with ALiVE) but they could be interesting- they would be equipped similarly to their conventional force, kind of like how the current FIA Overhaul gives the M4A1's, the INDEP would have G3's and OPFOR AK's.

Feedback on this?

Also, some people have been requesting a 'SFF All In One' pack.

Franky, I've reached the point ( 42 Factions or versions, and that's the PUBLIC count, I also have several more private factions) where it takes me longer to load the list of my published mods in A3 Tools than it does to actually release them, so I have been considering an idea, based off of what Massi did several years ago.

Themed/Theatre Groups instead of Individual releases-

What this means- I would no longer publish factions for individual download. Instead, they would be added as I make them to themed groups. For example, a 'US Special Operations Forces' pack would include ALL my US SOF groups in a single download, meaning US Navy SEALS, Air Force PJ's, 75th Ranger Regiment, MARSOC Marine Raiders and 'Delta Force' .

Advantages-

Easier to use due to less individual management. Gives me access to a wider range of gear/equipment that I had formerly restricted to a single faction to keep the download size down. For example, I could use MP7's and M249/ Mk48's for more factions instead of limiting them to the Delta faction to keep the other faction's dependancy list smaller.

As I make factions they will be added to each 'Theatre Pack' regularly, so you will see more frequent updates with new content.

Disadvantages-

Larger file size overall (although none of my public factions exceed 80MB in size, excluding dependencies) and you have less control over the units you want to use.
