@jarrad96 Great idea with the themed packs! I really hope you make more RHS factions! SMA isn't compatible with a lot of other mods!

I'm not sure if I mentioned it before on steam or not, but the AAF overhaul UAV specialist hasn't been touched. He's still vanilla, unless there's something going on?

I just checked that, and I have ran into a technical issue that prevents me from changing that guy. Sorry.

More RHS versions will be made, I'm hoping to have both SFF and SFF-R on par (excluding SCAR-equipped factions) before rolling out the Packs.

I'm not sure how I should publish them- I'm thinking of deleting the standalones for X/Y/Z factions and uploading the Packs as new items, but I could also convert one of the factions into a pack so people don't need to re-subscribe, and it keeps the statistics from the original.

The Packs (I'm still trying to think of a good name for them) will contain the factions in seperate PBO's inside, so the user can still pick-and-choose factions within the pack if they prefer.

Good plan!  Perhaps group them by region such as "SFF Europe" "SFF Middle East" "SFF Africa" "SFF Asia" "SFF Americas" ?

That way groups who operate in certain regions will have a complete pack of troops for that region?

I found several people re-hosting my files on Workshop. I don't know why people are doing this when all the factions are available Standalone by themselves rather than in packs- I even make different dependency versions if you prefer RHS/SMA!

Because of that, I've updated the permissions, they are below and also on the main post.

Permissions-

All SFF factions will be available on Workshop, as well as other download locations like Armaholic, PW6 or Arma3.De to make it easier for you to download and use them. If you wish to modify the factions in some way and re-host them, CONTACT ME OVER PM.

Feel free to use the various factions however you like, but if you are using them publicly use the official version on the Workshop. This is so you are always up-to-date with the factions and such. If you want to re-host the files for any reason do it set to friends-only or private or Steam, NOT public. If it is set public I will ask you to pull it down and use the official version instead.

Basically, what you do to the factions in a Private, non-public workshop file, I don't care. Make it public for some reason and I'll ask you to pull it down and use the official one instead. It's just so I don't get people complaining that X/Y/Z does not work, when it turns out they are using an outdated version made by Reuploader420Blaze and not the one I can actually manage. If you do want a modified version of any of the factions for whatever reason, PM me and I can see if I can make it for you- I've done private versions of several factions because people actually asked me first.

US Navy SEALS and USAF Pararescue Updated-

New Squads-

Air Force Pararescue Teams and SWCC Crewmen added

SEAL HQ Element added

SEAL Assault Team added

New Units-

More Air Force Pararescue Units added

Equipment-

Has been changed from the 2009-2010 transitional period of equipment to the much more modern 2016-2017 timeline.
This means that the HK416 has changed from a limited issue weapon to one of the more standard ones within the faction, and the M14 EBR's in the DMR role have been replaced by newer Mk17's.

The at-the-time aging Mk43 (M60E4) has been fully replaced by the Mk48 7.62 SAW, with some Mk46 SAW's used by VBSS teams as well. Gear changes such as the introduction of more Opscores instead of MICH's has also been done.

Notes- NIA SAWs has been added as a dependancy as a result of the modernisation update, and the main text has been edited alot and parts have been removed or re-written.

@foxhound

Would you mind using the same text as on the Workshop file? There is a bit of difference between the two.

Notes-

Do you like the idea of additional camo patterns for factions?

If people do, I can roll out updates for other factions, such as the Delta Force, and the SEALS (when Van adds AOR-2) to do the same to other groups.

They will be a different faction PBO dependant on the original, and included in the same faction download/ WS link, but separating them as a new faction that remains part of the original mod gives them better ALiVE and dynamic spawn functionality, so you don't have the wrong camo units spawning accidentally.

The Iraqi PMC Contractor faction is coming along nicely, and is mostly finished, just not yet polished with images and descriptions yet.

Compared to the original PMC faction that was included in the Ranger's there is about double the infantry unit types, about 6 additional squad/group types, and a range of ex-civilian vehicles they have access to.

I may also be going back through some of the other factions and adding static gun teams as well, now I know that ALiVE/ V-Com mans them. That's a rather simple update, just adding a few squads with various static weapons, so should be easy enough to roll out.

Also note that I'm working with VSM on some new weapons and kit, so if I don't talk about faction X/Y/Z or particular Overhauls (cough, CTRG) assume they ARE coming, but will be using as-yet-unreleased VSM Zenith gear.

VIP Bodyguards providing security for a war reporter.

Special Operation Forces Faction mod [SFF] that adds a PMC Contractor faction, with equipment based on contractors in Iraq and internationally.

Historical Info-

The main force is based on Iraqi PMC's in a 2008-2017 time period, with the restrictions on PMC organisations by the Iraq Ministry of Interior in place.
This means they do not have access to equipment like magnified optics, machineguns, or any form of pyrotechnic devices like 40MM grenade launchers, hand grenades and smoke grenades.

The Faction-

The PMC units consist of smaller teams, with lighter equipment, including mixed civilian and military equipment, armed with primarily M4A1 Carbines, supported by the occasional Sharpshooter.
Standard weapons include the M4A1 carbine, M4A1 CQBR, AKM and AKS-74U, with support from weapons like SIG 716's and the occasional rarer weapons, like a TAR-21. Because of MOI restrictions PMC units are not allowed to have more than a single registered weapon, so there is no standard sidearm.

Many of the PMC's have significantly lighter armor and gear than the Rangers, acting as more security and HVT protection or bodyguards than actual frontline combat units.

Specialist Elements-

"International PMC's' is the name I have chosen for the better-equipped PMC force that is meant to represent the non-restricted PMC forces around the globe, such as former military SADF soldiers fighting against Boko Haram in Africa.

They have no restrictions on kit, so things like magnified optics, machineguns, and grenades are all used, while camo uniforms in more lush and forested colors are more common due to the jungle fighting. Some LSV vehicles are also available for transport.

Supports-

Many of the PMC support vehicles are ex-civilian vehicles, but they also have MD-500 helicopters and RHIB boats.
A two man small bodyguard team, armed with sidearms, is available as a supporting element for mission makers who want to escort missions for allied HVT's or civilian VIP's.

A Sniper-Spotter team is also included, based on the video of a Blackwater International sniper in Iraq (named Travis Hayley, if anyone's intrested) in the early/mid 2000's. The Sniper is armed with a HK417 as I didn't have any DMR AR platform's around, and it was the closest I could get.

Faction has full Editor, Zeus, Task Force Radio and ALiVE support (faction name PMC ) Also supports ACE3 Medical system as well as all AI modifications. PMC Contractors are an INDEP faction.

Special thanks to Roadrunner for being my PMC consultant.

Taliban Insurgency SFF-R Updated-

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=951522276

Added-
-Server Keys
-Taliban Weapons teams (V-Com AI compatible)
-DSHKM Team
-SPG-9 Team
-Metis ATGM Team

Removed-
-NATO Mortar

-Bug fixes.

Jumping on the V-Com Static weapons update bandwagon here- I'll try and get as many factions as possible updated with Static gun teams.

Also note that the PMC's and now the SFF-R Taliban are the first MP Signed/ Keyed SFF Factions.

The PMC's are out now (thanks Roadrunner for the help with accuracy) , so I'll hopefully have time to work on some more factions like the ODA/ Green Berets, CIA Black Units, Delta Force (major update adding in a Desert Faction like I did with the Rangers) and maybe some others like the African Forces, on top of the usual updates.

Overall everything will be Server Keyed at some point, hopefully alongside an actual content update for each faction, if not, just a Keys update without new stuff.

I'm also going to go ahead and work on more Western SFF-R (RHS version) Factions like GROM, SEALS and Rangers, as well as anyone else who could do with one, excepting Israel- I was originally waiting for the release of a RHS SCAR-H, but I'll likely just use the SR-25/ M110 as a stand in.

I'm going away again for a few weeks to the Outback again, but when I return I'll try and get back to faction making (If I'm not swamped with IRL stuff)

CTRG Overhaul Concepts-

5lIhMfX.jpg

CTRG Team- 'Heavy' Version-

SCAR-H CQC's are the standard rifle, supported by SCAR-H STD as a DMR, SCAR-L for specialists and the M60E4 as a auto-rifleman weapon- My idea with this version of the CTRG was to get as much 7.62 firepower into a small team as possible- it's based on the Australian SASR during Vietnam, who modified their L1A1's (FAL) to be full-auto capable during jungle fighting- any sort of hit from SMA or NIA 7.62 is a kill unless the enemy are wearing incredibly heavy armor, and due to the ranges of fighting in jungles and urban areas the rounds will have really high velocity. The downside is obviously heavier recoil and less ability to be constantly engaged in prolonged fighting, but CTRG are well suited to small direct action type raiding so it should not be a major problem.

plej5zg.jpg

CTRG Team-  'Light' Version-

This version of the faction was built to adhere alot closer to the original armament of CTRG, just replacing the SPAR's with their modded equivalents. The standard rifles are HK416 Customs of both normal and CQC length, supported by a 7.62 DMR with a HK417 and the Mk46 (5.56 NATO, lightweight kit) SAW.

These are closer to the original CTRG, and in comparison to the 'Heavy' version are able to have more ammo with reduced recoil, making them more useful in direct, sustained combat, but they lack some of the range and stopping power of the 'Heavy' faction.

fcbIht9.jpg

'Heavy' CTRG Rifleman and Autorifleman, with SCAR-H and M60E4, respectively.

BweQrfH.jpg

I have kept the thermal balaclavas and the ENVG's of the original CTRG, but if people really dislike the ENVG's they can be replaced with normal night vision. If you want them removed, comment so.

nc7Enaa.jpg

I'm considering making NIA SIG Pistols a dependancy, just so I have some new sidearms for the faction.

Comment on if you would prefer the 'Light' or 'Heavy' versions of the CTRG, and if the pistol pack should be a dependancy or should I just stick to base game sidearms.

I only plan to make one CTRG overhaul, but I'm leaving it to a vote.

Vote for this comment for Option 1- SCAR
