Speaking of Zenitco AK's, AK-103's with similar furniture are being issued to some regular units, as well as special forces in the Iranian military. As for primary rifles, I know Norinco AR15 clones are extremely popular in Iran, some even having rails and such.

I went mostly with AK105's for the Guards infantry, just for ammo compatibility reasons, as it fires 5.45 just like the infantry. The 7.62 MG3 being fireteam level gives them plenty of firepower.

While the Katiba is still in the faction it is SUPER rare, I think only the Recon SF Squad Lead and 1-2 others in the Recon SF have it, rest of the guys with Zenitcos/ tactical AK100's or 74M's- Originally the entire Recon team had the Katiba but I thought it was too similar to base game, so I made it much rarer.

I might do an image dump of all my factions in comparison to the IRL photos I was using for references, I think it might be intresting to you guys.

Nice! What kind of Camo did you go with? Unfortunately, Iran has about like 30 different camos to choose from lol.

CSAT Overhaul Released-

E4t1qFp.jpg

xH1atie.jpg

This mod is a total replacement of the CSAT faction, bringing them more in line with modern day equipment, weapons and uniforms.
It works in the official Arma 3 Campaign and custom scenarios that use the CSAT faction will be using the new faction as well.

The Faction-

The Canton-Protocol Strategic Alliance Treaty (CSAT) is made up of Iran, China, and several other East Asian and Middle Eastern nations. The Russian Federation, while not a member of CSAT itself, is a major partner and supplier for CSAT, and often cooperates with CSAT member states on the development of new equipment.

The majority of the CSAT Infantry forces are equipped with desert digital camo and AK-74M rifles. I felt the desert digicam keeps the brown tone and high-tech 'feel' of the CSAT forces but it's more realistic than the hex-cam.

CSAT's origins in Iran has meant that their standard fireteam machinegun is the basic MG3 in 7.62 NATO with a light 50 round drum, and the MG3 is also used in the dedicated MMG gunner role with larger 100 round drums and rail mounts for 4x optics.

Standard AT weapon is still the RPG-32, which gives them better anti-armor capabilities compared to the RPG-7 of other factions, and the standard sidearm is the MP-433 'Grach', but small numbers of PP-2000's and Makarov's are also used.

Specialist Elements/ CSAT Guards-

The Urban/ Guards CSAT unit is now based on the Iranian Revolutionary Guard unit, and as such wears Woodland fatigues, and due to their higher status are armed with AK-100 series rifles, usually AK-105's to maintain ammo commonality with the general infantry forces within CSAT. They have slightly better access to equipment like body armor and modernised AK rifles.

A small Recon SOF unit is available under CSAT command, and they are very well equipped with ex-Russian body armor, helmets including some Western Ops-cores, and have highly customised AK-74's or AK100's, as well as very small numbers of KH2002 'Katiba' rifles, which was a prototype that was not fully adopted by Iranian Forces.

Supports-

Many of the supports are of Soviet origin, such as MRAP's orginally created for the Russian Interior forces and the as well as production models of the Object 640 Main Battle tank, based on an upgraded T-80U.
Mobile AAA and self-propelled artillery are also available, as are Naval divers and their transports.

A variety of helicopters fill CSAT airspace, from the small infantry trasport of the KA-60 / Orca to the Mi-48 Kajman gunship. Drones are also available.

Finally,
NO MORE BUG HELMETS!

Known Bugs- Pop-up error on start. Not easily fixable, sorry, but causes no major problems.

Faction has full Editor, Zeus, MCC and ALiVE support (faction name OPF_F ) Also supports ACE3 Medical system.
It totally replaces the OPFOR CSAT faction in editor, Zeus, ALiVE and all scenarios played when the mod is enabled.

Notes- All my factions, inc overhauls, are also MCC compatible.

This will likely be the last faction for a while, because uni, but I will be working on stuff whenever I can.

I have no faction lined up next, but I know a NATO Overhaul would be really wanted- that's going to happen but it's a ton of work so I don't want to give a date.

And thus, I now no longer have to search for a CSAT equivalent for mission making.

Also, is the UAV operator in the AAF Overhaul supposed to be vanilla?

CSAT Pacific Overhaul-

Should I use a larger mod, like VME PLA, to get more accurate equipment, or would people prefer just custom uniforms, keeping Apex guns, just to keep dependancies down.

I'm guessing you're not making two versions of the CSAT pacific overhaul, are you?

Also, are you going to make a tactical vest variant with higher armor on the CSAT Overhaul?

What for? The CSAT troops have a mix of LBV's, Tactical vests, and some of the Russian vests, which I used instead of the IOTV or NATO type body armor- the Russian vests fill the 'heavy armor' role within the faction.

And I was thinking of doing 1 CSAT Pacific Overhaul, so I wanted people's opinions on if it should use VME PLA (and this have more gear to pick from) or if they would pefer Apex weapons, just custom PLA uniforms for clothing.

Now, if it was easier to do CSAT, I would do multiple overhauls- I was having technical troubles with normal CSAT, because for some reason the game wanted the Cargo Crates the heavy lift heli has to contain 'crew' which I couldn't find a way to do (that's the cause of the error BTW) and I expect the same error with CSAT Pacific, so I'd rather not have to do the same 'search through 700 lines of code (only 700 lines referenced the crates, out of about 6,000 total) for crate references' 3-4 times.

Ah, I was exploring the mod and I must have missed the units with heavy armor. My bad on that one.

And that last part, that sounds really strange.

Pakistani Special Service Wing released-

pJwhUgs.jpg

SSW forces have a dedicated UAV operator and a small UAV support team.

Special Operation Forces Faction mod [SFF] that adds the Pakistani Air Force Special Service Wing, No. 2 Special Operations Squadron to Arma 3. It is mostly based on photographs of deployments between 2010 and early June 2017.

Historical Info-

The idea of a Pakistani Airbourne SOF group originated after WW2, where a small force of Pakistani Air Force SOF was raised in the 1960s before reforming in the 1990's, and was inspired by the sucess of US SOF in the early phase of the War in Afghanistan. The unit is modeled after the United States Air Force's Special Tactics Squadron and the United States Army Rangers.

SSW forces are paratrooper, HALO/ HAHO qualified and are currently engaged in counter-insurgency missions in Pakistan itself, mostly the northern Waziristan province and the border with Afghanistan. The precursor to the SSW, the Special Airwarfare Wing fought in the 1971 Winter War. They were assigned to operated in Jammuand Kashmir and Dhaka, East-Pakistan.

The Faction-

The SSW Squadrons are a commando type unit that has substantially different equipment to the regular army, with their main weapon being the Belgian F-2000 rather than the German G3 rifle of the Army. The uniform of most of the SSW soldiers is Woodland camo.

They have been known to use the FN P-90 rather extensively. Standard support weapons are the Minimi LMG, RPG-7 and the standard sidearms are the Makarov and M1911 ingame. Marksman carry the SVU/VS121 rifle.

Specialist Elements-

SSW CSAR (Combat Search And Rescue) and recon/ intelligence gathering are some of the main roles of the unit, and the CSAR forces ingame can be identified by their black equipment and armor, as well as access to silencers and having larger numbers of CQC weaponry. A 2 man Sniper team is also available.

Supports-

The SSW are supported by UAV overwatch and fire support from a 'Burraq' UAV, which can provide anti-tank firepower if needed.

Faction has full Editor, Zeus, Task Force Radio and ALiVE support (faction name SSW ) Also supports ACE3 Medical system. The Pakistani Special Service Wing are an INDEP faction.

Thanks to Night515 for donating the F-2000's and VS-121 in Black.

Just a quick thought, but what about doing some of the old ArmA factions from previous games? Like the SLA, Takistani Army, ION etc?

Nope- I don't want to get in the way of @wld427 SLA 2017 mod which is still WIP but look fantastic.

Takistani Army and ION Inc are covered by CUP already- I prefer to do things people haven't already done- hence I just released units from Pakistan of all places.

However, I might be working on some factions/mods that have more unique dependancies (or are mods themselves, not just factions), rather than my usual VSM/SMA/RHS factions- One that I plan to use VME PLA gear with (CSAT Overhaul) and a few others I'm not going to talk about yet.

EDIT- Because I think it's looking fantastic, plug-

Good point. I guess the only other thing I can suggest is French Para Commandos or Special Forces Group (Japan). Or maybe Indian Special Ops?

French is something I do want to do, but, and I've mentioned this before, I'd need to get the actual national camo.

Japan- same thing.

India, not sure, not something I had considered.

PASKAL is someone I will probably do though.

CIA and US Army ODA are both still on the 'waiting for VSM update' list.

Irish Rangers are on the 'possible' list- so is South Korean Unit 707, which I showed some WIP pics of a while back.

Egyptian Naval SOF is on there as well, as soon as someone makes the rifle I would use for them.

So is the Slovakian SOF group, the ones I was going to gear in Project Honour camo.

Would there be any intrest in a 1980-1990's faction?

I have the M81 of course, but I might also be able to get some Chocolate Chip' desert camo I could use for older units alongside the original SAW's, M14's and CAR-15's in NIA.

Sorry for the delay on these guys-

Hezbollah [SFF-R-RHS Version]

Released-

Special Operations Forces Faction mod [SFF] that adds the Hezbollah organisation to the game. This version requires RHS, if you prefer different mods there is a non-RHS version available.

The Hezbollah are a Lebanese Shi'ia Islamist political and military group. The position of Hezbollah as an organisation is tenuous, as it is both a legitimate political party and a fighting organisation. This faction is based on photographs and video footage from August 13th, 2013 to early 2017.

Historical Info-

The Hezbollah organisation was founded in 1985 to oppose Israel. It has since expanded to become of the largest and most well organised factions in the Middle east, comparable and possibly even more powerful than Islamic State (ISIS) It is currently fighting against both the Western World and ISIS at the same time.

The Faction-

The Hezbollah is a large Lebanese organisation, drawing soldiers and forces from the entire Shi-ia Islamic Middle East, and they have carefully concealed their military force's size- estimates range from as few as 5 thousand to as high as over 70 thousand, greater in power than the actual Lebanese Army. The majority of Hezbollah fighters have mixed military and geurilla equipment, with AK-74 rifles and some AKM's, and they have more uniformed and issued equipment to portray their organised structure compared to other terrorist groups.
PKM's and PKP's are the primary machinegun used by the faction, and they are supported by RPG-7's. The Makarov and Makarov PM are their standard sidearms.

Specialist Elements-

The Hezbollah has a Elite military and Special Forces unit, known as 'Radwan Unit', in tribute to a Hezbollah member, who are superior fighters and have better equipment than the regular Hezbolla fighters. They are known to wear black, but confirmed photos of the unit are very rare. They are armed with modernised AK-74M's, with more modern equipment and some acces to Night Vision to differentiate them from the infantry.
Specialist weapons such as the VSS Vintorez are in very limited use within the Syrian Army SAA forces, so I decided to give a VSS to one of the Hezbollah Radwan units to represent a captured weapon.

Supports-

They are supported by light and medium armor, such as BMP-1's and BMP-2's, T72's and ZSU-23-4 'Shilkas', as well as static weapons like ATGM's, Mortars and 50. Cal Machineguns.

Faction has full Editor, Zeus, Task Force Radio and ALiVE support (faction name HZ ) Also supports ACE3 Medical system.

Notes on the Hezbollah (Going to try these as a comment so the DL/ release post is a bit cleaner)

-I was very careful to avoid using the words 'Terrorist' or 'Insurgent' because they are a legitimate political party in Lebanon.

-Because of this basis I wanted them to have more extensive access to more military equipment compared to many of the other groups I've done- Camo or mixed gear is pretty much standardised and when I was doing research on them they seemed to have a large amount of 5.45 AK-74's compared to the normal 7.62x39 AKM's used in the Middle East, so I have them primarily armed with AK-74's and AK-74M's to make them a bit more different.

-Vehicle wise they like doing parades, so I watched a few of them and adding in some of the vehicles I saw- From BMP's (Not just BMP-1's but also BMP-2's) to small numbers of MBT's. I also gave them ZSU-23-4 Shilkas instead of the normal Ural with a ZU-23 on the back, wanted something a bit more substantial.
