Correct. RHS gear with some VSM, like most of my factions. I'm basing them mostly on photos over a few years or a video I have from around early December- I'll try and find more recent stuff than December that I can confirm as IS, but it's a real shitshow over there with so many groups fighting each other it can be hard to find out who is who in a video.

They will be using a mix of US and Russian gear, with the most common weapon among the regular forces being the AKMS- because of the folding stock it is more compact for transport so it more common among the forces in Syria because it's easier to smuggle into the country compared to a full stock AKM, but other AK's and M4/M16's will also be used by the faction.

Special Operation Forces Faction [SFF] that adds terrorist units from the Islamic State/Daesh/ ISIS / ISIL / IS based on photographs and video footage from 2014-2017. It contains a range of ground forces with vehicle supports.

Historical Info-

The Islamic State, particularly the 'Islamic State of Iraq and and Syria/Levant', known as 'Daesh' in Arabic, are a terrorist organisation that originated in anti-Western groups in the Middle East such as the Taliban and other Jidahist groups.

In 2014 it rose to power under the name of Islamic State, and has since been fighting on multiple fronts in the Middle East region, such as Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Nigeria and Somalia, among others.
IS has become renowned for it's extremist views, acts such as suicide bombings, executions and beheadings, and the belief that the Islamic State heads a global Apocalypse against the entire planet.
Motto- " baqiya wa tatamadad" "Remaining And Expanding"

The Faction-

The Islamic State fighters in the mod are based around a large core of lightly equipped troops, with the most common weapon among the regular forces being the AKMS- because of the folding stock it is more compact for transport so it more common among the forces in Syria because it's easier to smuggle into the country compared to a full stock AKM.

Full size AKM's, AK-74's, AKS-74U's and other weapons such as PKM's and RPG-7's are also used by IS, and some weaponry taken from military forces after the defeat of Government forces, such as M16's and M4 rifles.
There is no standardisation of equipment, weapons or appearance among the regular forces. Sidearms vary between M9's, M1911's and Makarovs.

The faction is based on photographs from 2014-2017 and video footage from December 2016.

Specialist Elements-

The IS cell known as Jund al-Aqsa form the specialist group within the faction. Many of them are veteran's of the wars in Iraq, Bosnia and Afghanistan, and are known to be better equipped and act more 'professional' than the main IS cells.

The units in this part of the faction have greater access to better equipment such as ex-Russian or ex-US body armor, more modern AK rifles and AR platform rifles. They wear a mix of Woodland camo and some have mixes of Multicam and other patterns or stolen Police equipment. Not all of them are of Middle Eastern ethnicity, some are European, to reflect their preference for foreign fighters.

Since Febuary 2017 the units from Jund have joined Islamic State forces rather than operate as a whole different faction, but they still retained their unit structure and the higher quality equipment and experience.

Supports-

IS are supported by a considerable amount of vehicles- the war in Syria has seen much larger numbers of armored vehicles, even main battle tanks like T-72's, used on all sides of the war. IS have access to both more common techincal vehicles, cargo trucks and ZSU-23 trucks, and armored vehicles like BMP-1's and T72's.

IS is well known to use stolen and captured US equipment, such as Humvee's and infantry weapons, which are also used in the faction in some numbers.

Static weapons like the KORD, TOW (taken and used by IS after the defeat of Free Syrian Army forces) and IGLA AA missiles are weapon options in the faction.

Faction has full Editor, Zeus, Task Force Radio and ALiVE support (faction name IS ) Also supports ACE3 Medical system. Islamic State are an OPFOR faction. I do not in any way support IS.

Give me some thoughts.

I'm considering adding in a few more squad options and vehicles like the Ural ZSU and BTR to the faction, but didn't want it to go overboard if used by ALiVE.

I think some BTR squads would work pretty well, as well as some more static weaponry. Also, some desert camo could be added to the mix.

Yeah, I might add in a BTR-60/70 and some static guns, maybe some more infantry and other vehicles as well.

Should have the update out soonish, say the next few hours at most.

What are people's thoughts on the PLA SF faction I did?

My post on the Steam Workshop page-

"The purpose of the mod when I originally made it was for a rather simple, easy to use faction using similar mods to my main SFF factions.

I did contact VME for permission to use his gear as a dependency for the mod and I never got a reply- I will NOT use someone else's gear without permission.

This faction is NOT of the PLA regular Army, but of one of their Special Forces units, which is why they are using some Western gear like Opscores- the few photos I have of Chinese Army SF have them wearing Opscores. VSM was chosen to keep the faction in line and make it easy to use for people using other SFF factions.

I've started to consider this my worst faction, as I was unable to gather proper sources on Chinese Special Forces equipment, or even some interviews with SF troops like I did for some of the Western groups, and it seems like none of the actual feedback I get here is positive, so the mod may be pulled from download if I feel like it's not of high enough quality."

TL-DR - Does anyone actually use or like the mod, or should it be pulled from download?

Are you kidding? There are 892 current subscribers on steam. If you wan't to know if people are interested in your mod or playing with it, look at amount of subscribers

Oh, I didn't know that number was current, I thought it was all-time, and when over 6,000 people looked at the mod and only 800 bothered to DL it at all.

I'll keep it up. Note that Chinese forces will also be getting another role on my mods as a CSAT PLA replacement, but they will be a different mod and look different to the PLA SF.

Finally more ratz to kill... I want to see someone script Tomahawks raining over the ratz heads all day to show real world military commanders how it should be done to clean out a nest. :D

For the PLA SF, those guys are SF. It is super hard to get any info out of that region at all and I love your mods. Keep it going on. If you get bored, perhaps you can do related CTU such as Taiwan CTU or Hong Kong SDU units.

If there was one other unit I wish you can do would be the "SF" units and survivors from the movie Battle Royale. I know it is SciFi, but that was what started Player Unknowms Battle Royale, H1Z1 King of the Hill and Battlegrounds games and mods.

It had High School Students (I think Tryk may have something), JSDF units, JSDF SF and the students in the special BR camo pictured here:

Thank you mate!!

PS: due to newest Geo-political news, you may want to look into North Korean units.... possibly with NBC gear. Unfortunately, you never know where a match of real world Nuclear-Risiko may lead to.:redmad:

I'm actually considering Republic Of Korea's Unit 707.

Just trying to to get some custom uniforms and kit for them- they may have more requirements that other factions as a result.

Next up is likely a Faction replacement for campaign. Would people prefer Syndikate to use pure vanilla gear or have some RHS items and weapons?

I don't know if you're still considering this, but I would really like to see Syndicate equipped with RHS weapons. The AK-12 seems unrealistic for them.

Yep, that's planned as something soon- the Syndikate Overhaul will be adding in some cut units like the technical that appear in some missions but are not available in editor, and re-arming them with RHS weaponry with a similar theme to their existing, probably going to be AKM= RHS AKM, AK-12 = AK-74.

I'm just working on something non-SFF related right now. Should be in my signature :)

this may be considered controversial due to recent events. But what about the North Korean special forces, there's 180,000 of them, so i imagine they're some what of a formidable force....if not just the normal KPA? I know you probably got a giant list you want to get through and other mods you're working on.

Progress Update on the Syndikate Overhauled faction- Like the other Overhauls it will replace Syndikate forces in the official Apex Campaign, as well as all scenarios played on while the mod is enabled.

Syndikate Cartel patrol, Afrene.

KDV2HY5.jpg

xajWnJI.jpg

Adds some units that appear in the Apex Campaign but not editor, like Syndikate technicals, both armed and unarmed.

Release should be as soon as I polish the description pages and take some better showcase photos.
