Jarrad excellent work you are doing here and the Aussies are brilliant! A well deserved happy birthday!

Re ops cores textures: how do you even notice such a small 'problem'? I dont even classify that as a 'problem'. do you spend that much time drooling over the gear instead of actual combat?

An interesting thing to note is that Israel is the only nation apart from the US known to actually operate the 'Ghosthawk' model of UH-60 Black Hawk in real life, under the name of the 'Stealth Yanshuf'

It is used by at least the 'Shayetet Matkal' unit of the Israeli Special Forces.

Release should be within 24 hours, and the next faction is either the People's Liberation Army SF, or the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC) forces of South America (Both are OPFOR factions)

Not the heli, the unit, Shayetet Matkal, who are the top of the many Israeli SF units (they are like Russia in that SF is based around a SF group per unit, rather than a smaller number of larger manpower groups) -photos of the Matkal are a no-no.

What About the Sayeret Matkal? Pictures of them are not illegal and there are a direct action and recon unit.

Of course that pictures of Sayeret Matkal or any other SF unit isn't illegal, such laws do not apply to random sites on the Internet. Of course they wouldn't pass the censorship laws in Israel(if you post them in an Israeli website/newspaper) but it's not relevant here.

The main thing is, you're probably not going to find pictures of them. Regardless, most Israeli SF units use gear that is pretty similar to normal infantry gear - the same OD combat uniform, pretty similar helmets(with or without a Mitznefet cover), plain OD vest(or more modern ceramic armor), using M4s and Tavors as their primary weapons.

There wouldn't be much point doing another Israeli unit, as they would be so similar visually/ gear wise to the Shayetet 13.

The ground forces are pretty 'ordinary' looking for Israeli SF, the only really S13 thing they have is the SDV and the Diver team, so you could easily represent another Israeli SF unit if you wanted to.

I probably shouldn't have used the word illegal, and said something like, rare/ hard to find, and people are discouraged to take photos of the group.

Israeli Shayetet 13 released

gxCP5CK.jpg

Special Operation Forces Faction [SFF] that adds the Israeli Navy's Special Forces unit, the Shayetet 13 (שייטת; Flotilla-13) and is based on sources from 2015 through to January 2017.

Historical Info-

The groups role is as the Israeli Navy's elite naval commando unit, and are among the primary special forces units of the IDF. Founded in 1948, it's existence was only revealed in 1960 to the public. S-13 has been known to operate in similar roles and missions to the US Navy SEALS.

The Faction-

S-13 is a naval, ground and air-based Special Forces unit. The soldiers carry the compact X95 (MTAR) rifle as standard, with the full length TAR-21 and M4A1 being used by some forces. The standard machinegun is the Negev NG7 'Commando' pattern LMG. The S-13 are organised into team of 'raid' elements which are fireteam to squad sized, and can be supported by divers, air support and APC's. S-13 wear flat OD uniforms and gear, with Opscore helmets and are based on 2015-2017 photographs and videos.

Specialist Elements-

Shayetet's role as the Naval special forces means it had diver teams and SDV delivery vehicles for water-bourne insertions, and it also has a recon element with suppressed weapons and ghille suits.

Supports-

The Shayetet are supported by a Stealth Yanshuef helicopter and they have a heavy assault team in a Namer APC.

Faction has full Editor, Zeus and ALiVE support (faction name S13 ) Also supports ACE3 Medical system.

Next up will most likely be FARC, 90's Delta Force or PLA SF, whichever you prefer.

The S13 are also the first faction that have my little SFF logo for the unit selection and on the main menu- it will be rolled out to the other factions in little updates soon.

Would be interesting to see PLA SF, I would assume they would use some APEX assets? Also, really liking the Shayetet units!

PLA SF would be using the Apex weapons, but different uniforms and vests, yes. Photos of actual PLA SF are unicorns though (so is even getting a name of any of their SF groups) , so they may be a bit of a semi-fictional extrapolation based on the few photos I have, Black vests and light helmets, PLA Universal Camo (digicam) and maybe supported by something like a MBT or a black Mi-48.

Anyone have ideas for a good comparison tank, considering there is no actual Chinese tanks around? I was thinking a T-55, T72-B early model / T-72B or T-72BM.

For tanks, the T-72B's painted in Chinese colours would probably suffice, at least in my book. As for the looks of the soldiers, from what I can tell, most Chinese PLA Special Forces look very similar to normal soldiers, with a few exceptions of course. Some special forces of the PLAN (Naval Forces) wear an all black uniform, as well as a blue naval styled camo.

Here's an image for some reference, I hope it helps!

In PLA Universal Camo pattern. The few photos I have of PLA SF have them with lightweight Opscore (or at least rip-off) style helmets.

So, while I wait for some weapons for FARC-EP, I've started work on a different South American faction that will be released a bit earlier, and they are meant to run together if people want some South American combat.

Colombian Special Forces

ZIn5TGV.jpg

Based on 2014 to mid 2016 photos of the 'Fuerzas Especiales Colombianas' the faction will consist of soldiers supported by some light vehicles and APC's, with air support and light boats.

The faction will be equipped primarily with the M4A1 rifle, supported by small numbers of M249 SAW's, M14 EBR's and AT4's.

They will use their national camo and some have Columbian flag patches on their body armor. They are currently geared up for jungle and wooded terrain, as they are meant to go up against the upcoming FARC faction.

Special thanks to the Columbian and Mexican forces mod for the camo patterns and gear.

Release Soon. (TM)

As in Spetsgruppa "A" / Alpha Group/ Alfa, Russia?

Possible. If so I would give them SURPAT instead of Multicam (I'm drowning in Multicam for units, I want some variation), a mix of AK-74M's, RPK-12's and MP443 Grach's. I do want to do them, or another Russian SF group (like Vympel) but I don't have the uniforms I would need yet.

Example photo, November 2016. (Not certain if this is Alfa or not, it may be GRU or Vympel, or a general Russian SF group)

mdwmu_L7.jpg

If you mean Ukrainian SBU, who are also called 'Alpha' I have a few mock-up photos of them ingame already, with Kryptek camo (late 2015) and I would be able to make them within a month or so if you wanted them.

I said FARC would be next, but got sidetracked and will be doing-

MsDjVy7.jpg

As a 'large' faction, similar in unit types and squad selections to the Rangers (meaning double or triple the amount of content compared to everything but the Rangers and Hezbollah.)

Special Operation Forces Faction mod [SFF] that adds the Chinese (PLA) special forces, based on photos of the Guangzhou Military Region Special Forces Unit, "South Blade" from January 2015.

Historical Info-

The Chinese People's Liberation Army has been in existence since 1927, and is the world's largest military force. The PLA special forces units have been in existence since the 1980's.

The Faction-

The PLA SF are a large force of infantry and mechanised units, equipped with the the Chinese Type 07 camo uniform in Urban pattern. They are armed with QBZ-95-1 rifles, supported by the QBB-95 LSW and the QBU-88 DMR rifle.

Specialist Elements-

PLA Recon forces are equipped with the Type 07 Universal pattern, supressors and with access to better night-fighting equipment like lasers, IR strobes, NVG's and LSV light vehicle support. They also have a sniper team with supressed QBU-88's and ghille suits.

Supports-

An airbourne assault team in a Mi-48 'Hàojié' gunship is able to quickly deploy a SF Recon team and provide fire support for QRF purposes. Engineer and medical support units are also available.
Various armored vehicles like Type 86 APC's, Type 69-II Main Battle tanks and Type 72 MBT's (fictional) give the PLA armored support.

Notes- There is no Chinese vehicle mods, so I had to use the Russian vehicles instead, but the BMP1 (Type 86 APC) and T-55 (Type 69-II) are used by the PLA IRL. The fictional 'Type 72' (T-72) is used as a stand-in for the more modern Type 88 tank, as is the ZSU stand-in for the PGZ95/ Type 95 SPAAG.

Dammit man this helps and hurts my soul at the same time. I have been struggling with creating a PLA group with the same name for a couple of months now due to the exact reason of not having PLA vehicle mods. You also used almost the exact camo's I was working with for just the "South Blade" operators. Although I did pull out the VSM standard green BDU type uniform ultimately for my super secret squirrel team within the overall PLA unit.
