Squarize option?

I havnt been able to figure out this squarize option, anyone know what it does?

This fuction makes from trinagulated faces squares where is it possible. Object must be selected before u will try this function...

Is there an option to turn a complex object into a simple square?

A "squarized" poly. Does it count as one or two polys the for the gameengine? That is important, because if it doesnt, what would be the point of squarizing anything? If it does it may drastically reduce polycount for any model.

For some parts of engine it does count as single poly. This is especially true for geometry LODs. For normal LODs the difference is not that big, it saves some space when storing the model and speeds-up software T&L a little bit.

wow.gif ...so when you say the polycount for a LOD1 model this and that is xxxx, do you count square polys as 1 or 2? Just for our guidance, please?

So OFP does handle Quads (4 sided polygons). This also is a big feature of Lightwave (oh no.. here he goes again.. nagging abotu lw =) that it's designed mainly around quads (although it uses both tri's and n-gons aswell).

So again, is there any possibility for us to get a import/export SDK to write obj and LWO importers/exporters? As it is now, the only safe route to import/export into Oxy seems to be to go through 3DS, which automatically makes every quad into 2 tri's.

A-FREAKING-MEN BROTHER!

I had 50% of a fairly detailed mod going before oxy refused to import the LWOs or the converted 3DS's.
