Awesome update Gemini, I'm back in it on the Server!

 

UPDATE:

Runs Good, well done!  Couple of observations:

1. looks like you removed the inventory in Food Box and Medical Box they are empty?

2. When I was on mission in desert I got the following Script Error once and a while:  "func_needs.sqf" undefined _tiredness and _thirst  LINE 81.

Am I limited to the number of team numbers and their type ? I set the limitation to 5 guys per team in MP and 10 guys in SP. Unit types are up to you. You credit level is 2500 at start-up. You can earn more by succeeding tasks, destroying weapon caches etc... Now, you can also demobilize alive units to get refund, and chose another specialist if needed.

In real world I would have been informed if friendlies were operating in the area. You are right, I will think about a way to warn players that a friendly squad is nearby in the next update.

There was still a few annoying bugs left (especially when playing in MP), so here is already the 1.05 update for OPEX.

 

Changelog:

  • Fixed: AI units are now spawning properly after all players had respawn at least one time
  • Fixed: medical box and food box are not empty anymore at start-up
  • Fixed: rare fnc_needs relative error message should not occur anymore
  • Updated: cleaning functions has been a bit optimized

Gemini,

 

When JIP and you have a Tent Respawn, I noticed that the Tent is still there, vehicles you had are gone and not at Camp but the Tent Respawn although shows up when killed does not work you end up at Medical Tent.  You have to Deploy another one leaving the old Tent which you can't repack.

 

Also I still got the Script Error on _thirst and I called in Air Strike but it said I was not a Team Leader, but I was.

 

Hope this helps. Server has been running for days.

Thank you for this new feedback.

 

I'm not sure to understand, let me give you a bit more information, maybe it will clarify some points:

  • the tent and any friendly vehicles left outside the HQ are automatically deleted after a certain time if no friendly units are detected nearby (it simulates a possible enemy patrol that could find them and capture them). If the tent is captured, the mobile respawn point is automatically reseted to the medical center in the HQ.
  • to repack an existing tent (supposing it hasn't been captured by the enemy), you should just have to select the action "repack tent" that is attached to the tent.
  • to deploy a respawn point, you should just have to select the action "deploy respawn point" that is attached to the tent.

If it doesn't really answer your question, please let me know.

 

About the script error and the air strike you are not able to call: I will investigate on it as soon as possible.

-Tent, I didn't get a "Repack Tent" all I could do was move it with the add actions.

- makes sense on the vehicles, I understand

Be advised that Project OPFOR and RHS addons have been updated since last release of OPEX. Maybe you should consider to download those updates too, to avoid possible bugs.

Hi guys !

 

After long and hard work, I'm pretty happy to announce that the next update of OPEX is pretty well advanced and should be released soon. It will include, as always, some fixes and adjustments to improve gameplay and immersion. And above all, it will be compatible with a few more maps, to bring more variety !

 

FATA and Altis versions are already done. I have in mind a few other ones:

  • Kunduz (France fighting Talibans in Afghanistan)
  • Diyala Iraq (France fighting Islamic State in Iraq)
  • N'Ziwasogo (France fighting Boko Haram in Nigeria)
  • Isla Duala (France fighting Boko Haram in Cameroon)
  • Tanoa (France fighting Boko Haram in Indian Ocean)

Which one would you prefer ? Are there other maps you would like to play on ?

Oh goodie. :) I guess I'll be greedy and request missions on maps I haven't made any missions on myself, so I vote both African maps and Tanoa. :)

 

Though be advised, N'Ziwasogo is getting an update for Apex assets so you might want to wait on that one until he releases the new version (unless you think it won't impact your mission). I love that damn map, by the way. The ambient sounds, thick jungle and HUGE cities are mind blowing. N'Ziwasogo is such a cool map.

Definitely. I really do think Tanoa would be amazing too. Been playing a bit of Ghost Recon Wildlands and it makes me want this mission in a tropical setting. :)

I've been giving the request for mission porting suggestions to different maps some thought and rather than suggest specific maps (though I'll mention several possibilities for consideration), I'm more interesting in the type of maps that I would like to play the mission on and the enemies encountered. I can't speak for others but I'm getting very weary of playing on desert and Mediterranean maps. While the tropical maps being considered for updates would be a nice change of pace, I also wouldn't mind seeing the mission ported to some temperate maps (but not Chernarus as I'm very tired of it!) representing European or Eastern European nations that haven't been played to death. Also, a port of the mission to a South or Central American setting would be very welcome. France has a military presence (including the Legion) in French Guiana that could make for some interesting missions if a proper map to depict the region is available. I couldn't find any information on the existence of rebel or nationalist movements there but perhaps a fictional one or a real one that has expanded operations from a nearby region to that country, would suffice. For me, Jihadists are also getting a bit tiresome as an enemy. Some old-school communist, nationalist or ethnic movement guerillas would be a welcome change of pace.

Thank you for all your interesting feedbacks guys. And thank you for the information about N'Ziwasogo, so I think it would be smarter to wait for the next map update to deploy OPEX there.

 

About all your other propositions: just keep in mind that OPEX is built as a counter-insurrection task generator introducing French Army, so it's not so easy to convert the mission to every map.

 

Anyway, I will try to propose different regions and different conflicts (that could be real or semi-fictionnal) to bring as much variety as possible. Do not hesitate to continue to share any idea you may have and... stay tuned !

After a very long and hard work, I'm proud to announce the release of the 1.10 update for OPEX. This major update brings support of the following maps: Altis, Tanoa, FATA, Kunduz, Taunus and Isla Duala !

  • Fixed: HQ markers should now be displayed properly when using GPS

  • Updated: actions for buying supplies, units and vehicles have been moved to the Delivery Zone (more convenient)

Also, you can now download all required mods by subscribing the mod collection (note: R3F French Units and R3F French Weapons are not hosted on Steam at this time so you still need to download and install them manually).

 

As always, please delete any old version of OPEX you may have on your computer and check if all mods are up-to-date.

Gemini, thank you for these new releases. I'm looking forward to trying this in some of these new locations. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to check them out later in the week. Have you decided what map(s) to port this to next? If you want to keep that information under wraps for now, then I can understand that but whatever comes next, I'll be looking forward to it. :)

No, not yet. I've noticed the ones you proposed previously, but during the next weeks I need to have a break, have some rest and I will only focus on users feedbacks, because this was a huge update. If everything seems to work properly, then I will continue to port OPEX to other maps. But in the meantime, I think there should be enough stuff to wait until next releases :smile_o:

It should be noted that if you use PWS to manage your mods, that the following mods are currently out of date on the PWS servers:

 

R3F French Units

R3F French Weapons 

JackFrench

 

I contacted PWS about the updates, so hopefully they will be fixed soon. Until then, the mods should be downloaded from the links above. If you already recently downloaded those mods from the links that Gemini provided in the first post of this thread, then you are already good to go.
