bboy,

are you in Pacamac? That's where the resistance camp is.

This is shown resp. described in the tasks. Did you get that task and is it (and all others) showing in the notes (when you open the map)?

If not, then you're experiencing a newly introduced Arma bug. Check my first post on page 1 for solution and more details.

A teaser vid for this Excellent mission

Note: I use community and custom modset so some of the kit and features are specific to my playthrough.

Also note: very light spoilers but nothing major.

Damn, what the heck is happening there? :( Are they frozen?

Did you talk to the guys standing in front of the house in Pacamac?

Cosmic, thanks a lot for this cool video, your time and your feedback!

Your video motivated me to recreate my old Arma 1 "slideshow" trailer in Arma 3. Sat a whole day on it and I think it's quite a good advancement.

New trailer:

(Btw. for those who watched the old one - do you notice the similarity? 😄 )

On the mission itself:

I hope I fixed some bad design decisions which resulted in frozen units, when the player roamed around where he was not supposed to be (according to the task). The player should have the freedom to move where he wants and I hope that the next update is going to reflect that.

So, I think I sort of finished it. I've been playing it over the course of a few days and it took me alltogether about two and a half hours. I liked the slightly cheesy (not in a bad way) atmosphere, cutscenes, and voice acting. It had a very OFP-ish vibe. Pleasantly classic.

I've experienced a few bugs though. For once, my tasks were all gone after some point (it's a known bug from what I read) but even the tasks added later never showed up in my map screen. Then I've been detected like five times in a row on that shooting position. I guess it's due to Arma 3's garbage movement system that lets your character randomly get up when you try to crawl on an elevated ground. Bummer, but certainly not your fault. Apart form that, a Hind was frozen mid-air above the military base after I loaded a save game. Lastly, my extraction helicopter wouldn't come to the LZ. Instead, it kept circling between the Speznas camp and the mountains for some reason. I have to add that I may have broken the mission there myself as I used a teleport cheat to get to the pick-up. I've also used a cheat to disable fatigue on the long walks as I didn't have more than half an hour or so per day to play this mission. So I wanted to get the most out of it.^^

Other than that, cool stuff!

Thanks, IP!

Two little questions:

1. Did that Hind freeze before or after you got the new task to move to contact the resistance?

2. Do you remember one or two of the new received tasks that didn't show up in the map?

Yeah, might be that you broke the evak with your cheat.

1. I can't remember. But I first saved and turned off the game right when I killed the officer. When I got back to it, the helo was frozen I think.

2. At least the last three or four or so. Today, I started shortly before reaching the resistance. Bascially no task after that would show up in my notes.

@IndeedPete Like you, I was also i bit short on time while playing this. From the sounds of it you used the Simple Single Player Cheat mod? That likely was the problem. i used MCC to teleport some of the longer distances and I use this to disable fatigue. http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=29922

I had no issues at all with tasks-might be worth you trying again?

Yeah, I was using the SSPCM. Though I didn't teleport to the extraction right away. I made several teleports towards the extraction to make sure I don't miss a trigger or distance check. And the helo showed up. It was just stuck in a cycle, loitering above the mountains.

But did you restart the whole game in between a playthrough? I did that four or five times at least. And I got the task notifications, they just didn't show up in the menu.

Yes I have saved and turned off Arma twice now-I am just after starting again to finish the mission now and tasks are still triggering-I have had no issues at all. i have used teleport about 3 times-by looking at MCC's console I can see where groups are etc and so I will never teleport passed them or anything so I miss nothing.

Oh, well. Using the markers, the map, and the voice acting I was still able to get through it. So, it's not a big deal without tasks.^^

I would still recommend trying MCC-it does basically everything the cheat menu does and allows for some other nifty stuff too-like calling CAS or spawning vehicles. Not that you would need any of that in this mission-I just meant in general :)

@Undeceived - A very nice touch, making the friendly rebels cough and make noise! I keep stopping to glare at them as we sneak along ;D

I know about MCC, it's one of the basics in our clan. Though I'm a bit tired by its constant script / config errors popping up. MCC desperately needs an update. SSPCM served me well throughout various SP experiences.

Anyway, I'd still guess the task bug is just something savegame related.

I really don't recommend you to use teleport cheats in the mission! It's so complex* and there are triggers all over the place so you could and would miss important activations.

I know, the ways are long, but if you can't go admiring the beautiful landscape in every detail, then at least go with setAccTime x4.

*This was my very first mission back then (Arma 1) and looking at the scripts and editor layout today I can just throw my hands up in horror.  :o Please don't look into my scripts   - well, you wouldn't comprehend much anyway in that mess - even I can't partly , even though I updated some scripts.

Hey Undeceived!

Great mission, just finished it. I expected it to be longer than that initial sniper task, but wow, what a journey. Took me nearly four hours ingame time to complete, not counting the countless reverts. ;)

Have to agree with IndeedPete, this mission has a very special atmosphere. I like missions that develop over time and just keep going on.

I didn't encounter any showstoppers, no frozen units or missing tasks like mentioned by other players. (Didn't use any other mods, except a weapon sway fix and some additional islands.)

The only issues where messed up voice files and the weird fade-to-black effect, but these have been mentioned before.

What was a little bit disappointing was the empty landscape. After the first objective I expected to be hunted down by lots of enemies, but I rarely encountered any enemies away from the objectives. Therefore the walks in between where quite long. But apart from that I had a lot of fun playing. Thanks for this mission.

Looking forward to a Black Lands port.  :D

This is really one of the best missions I've played in Arma 3 (although not finished), and I really liked the opening gear selection scene, that was great.

However I ran into a serious bug. I played for about 90 mins yesterday, and then I stopped for the night. Coming back today, no matter what save game I load, I have no tasks. It looks as if my identity may no longer exist, so I'm not connected to the tasks anymore. The funny thing is that I had to reload a few times yesterday and everything was fine, but after exiting Arma and loading again, no tasks. And the mission even assigned me a couple new tasks, and they do not appear in the task list. Like I said, it's like the player isn't the player. Weird?

No tasks has been reported and is actually an Arma bug and not related to the mission.

For me the fix was to disable the skip intro parameter.

After I did that tasks were fine.

Mine is a startup parameter in the exe shortcut... if you use the launcher I think there is a check box in there somewhere...

I also had -world=empty as well bit took that out. Not sure if that is also related.

Hopefully that works for you to...

Hello and thanks for all the good feedback! Give a :thumbsup:here too if you want, to help spreading the word a little bit.

AZCoder, this really in an Arma bug, check my first post (issues) for more info how to solve it.

@cosmic10r - thanks for the info, disabling both empty world and skip intro in my alternate 3rd party launcher did the trick.

@Undeceived - I had read your first post 2 days prior to playing, and forgot! Your alternate suggestion to load the mission, exit, and resume also worked.

I ran into a problem where my NVG's stopped working:

I'm at Mataredo and after the OPFOR are killed, there is a radio conversation. After the conversation, my NVG's were dead. Looking at my inventory, I found that they had changed to Green Indepent NVGs. They had been AN PVS-7s!

Before I got to that town:

After the conversation when they stopped working:

I never would have noticed this change, except that I am running LSD NVG mod (for full screen effect) and apparently it doesn't work with vanilla assets. Go figure. But the real question is why did my night vision goggles change? :D

Unrelated, Matar is Spanish for "to kill". Interesting town name.

AZCoder, that's a remnant of the Arma 1 version, I removed the NVGs (the only NVGs that existed back there) to work around something (which I now forgot :) ), then added it back to the player.

I'll fix that in the upcoming update, there are better ways to do it with newer Arma 3 script commands.

Thanks for reporting!

Btw. I noticed that you got goggles (Pilot goggles) on that second screen. Did you take them or were they added automatically?

On that other subject you PMed me:

Were there members of the resistance group still alive?

If yes, did you not get the task to escort them to their pick up point? (if only one of them is left, he'll go alone by himself, not escorting needed)

Can you describe as exactly as possible, which route took to get to Pamamac?

To the first, I picked up the pilot glasses on purpose.

To the second:

Everyone died, it was terrible. An APC wiped out the whole squad, so I was the sole survivor.

Pamamac? I went there along the north side of the road, fairly direct, from Hunapu. If I was supposed to return there later, I don't know. With everyone dead and the final objectives complete, I was given objective to head back to Hunapu. That route, I think, was through Puntas Occidental on the map. It was a valley with paratroopers dropping up north.
