@zukov there's no m1953 helmet in RHS:ARFR/USAF and GREF dependency is still to be discussed

@SenorTactican and lolkij - for now you have to duplicate factions but like I said in last post I will make extra compatibility pbo for GREF users

I don't know if this is the correct place for the community suggestion for a new faction, but If it is, then I would suggest the PLA.

In my option i think that adding GREF will be a benefit, mainly due to being able to use weapons such as the Serbian AK that is being used in Iraq i believe as well as the ultimate weapons that is the Mosin, but it up to you guys, anyway nice mod :)

@foxhound thanks for new mirror, but keep in mind that it is version 0.1

Armaholic still shows v0.1 from 12th July. Is content v1.0 though?

The page date was only cause its an older page I used. I have updated that now.

The author stated in this topic after I released the files 0.1 is the latest, so it is the latest.

IRA and PLA were also suggested to me by community, but like I said in ROADMAP I need specific docummenation (which u need to bring me on our forum).

@alex weapons from GREF are cool, also it adds new uniforms models and a lot of more stuff I could add to our factions, but its another 1GB

@foxhound thanks for making it clear for everyone

Btw. I forgot to mention about known issues which is bad lighting on Middle Eastearn Robes (rvmat which I cant fix)

I can take care of this but I'll have to postpone this until the end of the next week.

It's great to see LOP has been re-imagined and supported again. I always felt the treatment of Leight was unjustified for the little he did borrow from other mods. Either way rules is rules I suppose.

Anyway, as my unit will move over to this as soon as it becomes available on PlayWithSix can you tell me will the name rewrites and updates break missions that already use LOP assets? As to this very day our group uses LOP and it would be catastrophic to see so many missions made useless now.

Keep in mind due to the inherent problems with LOP all our missions only feature LOP units no vehicles or other assets.

Keeway, hey man good news. I only got around to testing the African faction but all of the groups seem to work beautifully with ALiVE! The civs too! :)

Great job! Them and the ISIS factions are lovely.

I'm not sure how you feel about requests to existing factions, specifically when it comes to their general look, but I figured there would be no harm in asking.

Could you make some of the African soldiers and groups a little bit more like Boko Haram and less FIA looking? I'm not asking that they get redressed entirely (the faction looks great!) but I'm thinking this might be a good opportunity to redress some of the baseball hat dudes (I'm not a fan of baseball hat dudes).

So what I'm thinking is, maybe you could redress some of them with shemags or balaclavas to give them a bit more of an Islamic tint instead?:

http://www.iran-daily.com/News/153371.html

I think mixing in some of these guys in the units and motorized/armored/infantry groups would compliment really nicely what's already there.

Also, any chance you could put some of the ISIS guys in gear aside from the black battle dress? Again, not a replacement, but maybe just a few units and groups to compliment what's there. I'm thinking maybe some guys in some camo without the black headgear:

Anyway, looking good Keeway and Leight! It's nice to have you back and up and running! :)

I just quote the first post:

While rewriting our main purpose was to offer compatibility with old classnames and files, we'v achived it.

So basically, should since also the Faction names stayed the same! ^^

@HeroesandvillainsOS I had plans to bit upgrade ISIS faction and make it more realistic. Nowadays Islamic State fighters in black are not as popular as there were when Leight made this faction.

tbh. I delayed releasing khaki and desert marpat retextures of AAF uniforms just like in video below, because of gameplay reasons. Anyway I think it wouldn't be a problem to add some extra m81 and this Chinese camo to this pack.

600px-China2.jpg

About africans I need you to give me some more documentation, and We will make a new faction.

Also vlad_8011 reported these bugs on our SW page

- Land rover is not touching the ground

- T-55 and T-34 lost his gunner sight after zomming

- T-34 & T-55 gunners cant reload to next round (ammo) type after one kind of ammo is spent (for example i fire all AP rounds)

- Same tank ^ have very strange armor values for their rounds & other RHS vehicles - you cant destroy M113 from T-55.

Heh. I'm nervous to keep on pounding "Boko Haram" into my search bar. FBI, it's not what you think! :)

Here's a documentary which has a lot of shots of them:

At around 2:20 you'll see their leader at the time of the video. The quality is so-so on the video though.

And here's a Vice documentary on Boko Haram with some shots interspersed as well:

Apparently as of this year, they've come up with more of a set style guide from stolen African army gear but finding shots of this or documentation hasn't been super easy: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/04/boko-haram-insurgents-new-uniforms-army/

Anyway, thanks for offering to make a new faction. Would that be necessary though? Yours kind of already suit the bill (insurgents with rocket launchers and pickups with technicals, etc), just minus the Islamic slant. I mean, who is the current faction based on? As far as I can tell, Boko Haram would be the most well known insurgents in Africa. They're the ones who kidnapped those 300 school girls and pledged allegiance to ISIS. They do beheadings and suicide bombings and the like.

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-36321249

http://www.cnn.com/2015/03/12/middleeast/isis-boko-haram/

http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/2015-year-in-review/isis-owns-headlines-nigeria-s-boko-haram-kills-more-ever-n480986

What additional documentation could I get you? And does anyone know of a safe website I can look over army gear from around the world? An aggregated site like this would have to exist you'd think.

Thanks for keeping the same classnames as Leights pack, all my missions work fine using this update/new pack!

Have you planned for any Pacific factions? I feel a solid Abu Sayyaf-esque islamic insurgent group could make for some good modern counter insurgency missions in the jungles of Tanoa.

Love it. :) One question, though. Would that be possible to add the RHS "manual bolting" feature and bolt hand animation to the Lee-Enfield? It really adds to immersion when using bolt-action rifles.

@Red Partisan Abu Sayyaf from what I saw on videos/photos they mostly use m16a2 and Im hoping RHS is doing something about this beauty too :)

also that would be nice if I get headband model so I could use it for other factions, maybe someone has one?

look at reference - http://jihadintel.meforum.org/identifiers/24/headbands

@dragon01 I'd love to do it, but no idea if enfield is ready for this and RHS guys can help me with that or just give permission to do such thing.

There is plenty of documentation around on the IRA I believe, there even is an older mod for ArmA 3 on this website, but it has been abandoned a long time ago and is hopelessly outdated. It could serve as a great source of inspiration however because it has 2 excellent factions, the IRA and the UVF (Ulster Volunteer Force, far right pro-British enemies of the IRA). https://forums.bistudio.com/topic/172346-northern-ireland-insurgents/

There are some modern shots in here: http://www.vice.com/en_uk/video/free-derry-the-ira-drug-war

http://terroristallone20000.weebly.com/uploads/5/4/7/3/54730669/6961343_orig.jpg

http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/migration_catalog/article25649647.ece/ALTERNATES/h342/UDA%20new

Their uniforms are usually woodland camo parkas or green wool jumpers, with berrets and balaclavas or scarfs and aviators to cover their face. Trousers can be blue jeans or combat trousers.

These are some of the weapons they imported in the past and which surely are still in circulation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Provisional_Irish_Republican_Army_arms_importation .

Hi there :)

Just came across your project, keeway - and I gotta say:
Great job, thank you a lot !!!

If any lunch break could start with an insta up-lifter like this :D

Now, I have hundreds thousands of questions though (figuratively)
and would also like to add my 2 cents to the discussion..

Guess I'm gonna go with my thoughts first:

I feel like you'd be on the right track with making the PR:OpFor GREF dependent; since you already need AFRF and USAF and
factually your modification basically is a sort-of extension to GREF, rather than having anythin to do with the other two.
Besides that RHS is (hopefully) going to update and improve on GREF continously and as always with that excellent quality we're
all looking for - so that being said - GREF would make your life infintely more easy in regards to the ArmAverse factions;
which I suppose can only be considered a good thing?

As for factions:
I think an obvious choice for an additional faction would be the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).

The faction could be fairly well represented with material avaiable in AFRF, GREF and really does belong to the whole ME scenario,
as well as a true OpFor faction to justify some Russian boots on the ground on those lovely ME maps ;)

Vehicles would entail older Urals; GAZ-66, UAZs, Datsuns; BTR-60, 70, 80(A); BMP-1(P),2,[3 (early)]; BRDM-2/ ATGM variant; T-90;
as with T-72s and t-55s however, I guess, as of now, it'll be difficult, since there are no proper (that is RHS compatible) T-72(M/M1M//A/AVs) or T-55(A/AM) (yet?).
Hence except for those T.90s heavy armour would be, at least for now, 'a bit' troublesome.
As for aircraft though I'd think the Su25 should do fine; MIG21/23 would be nice too, but 're just not avaiable; further on Mi-25 are basically delivered
with the GREF CDFs' Mi-24s (excluding the Mi-24G of course).

As for weapons, it'd be AKM(S)s for the infantry, with GP-25s and some older scopes for spotters; SVDs for snipers and AK(S)-74(M)s
(perhaps) for special forces and finally AKS-74Us for vehicle crews. Anti-Tank weaponry would very well be delivered by the launchers included
                                    in RHS:AFRF.
And if you do later expanded on to an Iranian faction, as mentioned on armaholic, their Militia units would fit right in with the SAAs' NDF.

As with documentation I could only point you to Wikipedia and countless YouTube videos; but I reckoned you could do that yourself and it might
                                    rather come across as an insult of some sort, if I posted such blatantly obvious stuff here - I do not have any inside scoop or special source though;
only what I would gather from Wikipedia and by following the news some what.

So what you think, keeway; what does anyone think of SAA?
Other than the SAA, I think Boko Haram, as somebody else already mentioned on here, would be my sure bet and  well-deserving contender to serve as Duala machine gun fodder.

Edit:
I just happened to remember, that, perhaps, this: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=26169, could come across as handy for the Peshmerga faction; what d'you think?
Oughta be put to some use this addon; it'd be a shame if it existed, but, well stopped at that.
Plus I remembered all of a sudde, that there was somebody, I think I remember, who already started on doing SAA repaints of basic vehicles - just treid to find it, could'nt find it though;
but maybe some one else remebers, maybe it was taken down? Gotta get me something to eat now; 'll come back here later.

Thanks a lot; 'll keep following this closely!!

I'd rather have ISTS just because the risk of unwanted attention. It's just a menu name.
