Latest A3 Update Causing Tons of Errors on my Mod

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

With the latest update to APEX, I have been getting a ton of errors with my mod (filling up the .rpt). These weren't present before the update.

On ItemInfo, check out https://forums.bistudio.com/topic/192259-config-errors-displaying/?hl=iteminfo#entry3056311

I'd guess the other errors are inheritance related as well. Best to de-pbo the vanilla weapons after the patch and model your stuff like wise.

Thanks!

I guess I have a bit of work to do.

As it turns out, it wasn't that much work  :)  :)

For reference to anyone who stumbles upon the same error, the below example relates to my Vest specifically, but it works similarly with Headgear and other items:

//What was
class ItemInfo;
class SA_PlateCarrier_BA1: Vest_NoCamo_Base
{
	...
	class ItemInfo: ItemInfo
	{
		...
	};
};

//Changed to
class VestItem;
class SA_PlateCarrier_BA1: Vest_NoCamo_Base
{
	...
	class ItemInfo: VestItem
	{
		...
	};
};

I did a similar thing with the Weapons regarding 'WeaponSlotsInfo', the difference is that I inherited it from a different place:

//Instead of having out here
class WeaponSlotsInfo;

//I moved it in here
class arifle_MX_Base_F: Rifle_Base_F
{
	class WeaponSlotsInfo;
	class GunParticles;
};

My rifle uses the MX Base class, so the configuration would probably be different for other people.

Thanks for providing a solution. Can you elaborate on the second part of the fix? I have some modded weapon cfg definitions in my custom mod as well.

Your part 1 itemInfo fix was working for me, but for part 2, when I moved the "class WeaponSlotsInfo" into the class definition itself like you did, Arma would throw error saying WeaponSlotsInfo already defined and would not load for me.

Can you please explain a little bit more? Thanks! =)

class WeaponSlotsInfo;
	class Custom_srifle_EBR_SOS_F : srifle_EBR_SOS_F
	{
		magazines[] = {"Custom_762x51_Mag"};
		displayName = "EBR Custom Rifle";
		class Single : Single{
			dispersion = 0.00001;
		};
		class WeaponSlotsInfo : WeaponSlotsInfo{
			mass = 1;
		};
	};

change to

class Custom_srifle_EBR_SOS_F : srifle_EBR_SOS_F
	{
		class WeaponSlotsInfo;

		magazines[] = {"Custom_762x51_Mag"};
		displayName = "EBR Custom Rifle";
		class Single : Single{
			dispersion = 0.00001;
		};
		class WeaponSlotsInfo : WeaponSlotsInfo{
			mass = 1;
		};
	};

EDIT:

Never mind, managed to fix it. For those who are interested, the correct definition should be below

	class srifle_EBR_SOS_F{
		class WeaponSlotsInfo; //this should be declared inside weapon class (previously was outside weapon class)
		class Single; //same for this one
	}
	class Custom_srifle_EBR_SOS_F : srifle_EBR_SOS_F
	{
		magazines[] = {"Custom_762x51_Mag"};
		displayName = "EBR Custom Rifle";
		class Single : Single{
			dispersion = 0.00001;
		};
		class WeaponSlotsInfo : WeaponSlotsInfo{
			mass = 1;
		};
	};

EDIT2:

Config is still not working, anyone can help to shed some lights?

Hey man,

Is it still producing those errors, or has it stopped working wholesale?

Hi Rabid Squirrel, I have follows your example but no luck, I still get that warning message. This is the cod that I have:

class ARBiH_Beret_Officer_Red: HelmetBase
		{
			author = "$STR_RBiH_Author_Name";
			_generalMacro = "H_Beret_blk";
			scope = 2;
			displayName = "ARBiH Beret Officer (Red)";
			picture = "\CLUSTER\ARBiH_Equip\data\beret\ui\arbih_beret_officer_red_icon_ca.paa";
			hiddenSelectionsTextures[] = {"\CLUSTER\ARBiH_Equip\data\beret\arbih_beret_officer_red_co.paa"};
			model = "\A3\Characters_F\Common\headgear_beret01";
			allowedFacewear[] = {"G_Aviator","G_Balaclava_blk","G_Balaclava_oli","G_Bandanna_aviator","G_Bandanna_beast","G_Bandanna_blk","G_Bandanna_khk","G_Bandanna_oli","G_Bandanna_shades","G_Bandanna_sport","G_Bandanna_tan","G_Shades_Black","G_Shades_Blue","G_Shades_Red","G_Shades_Green"};
			class ItemInfo: ItemInfo
			{
				mass = 6;
				allowedSlots[] = {801,901,701,605};
				uniformModel = "\A3\Characters_F\Common\headgear_beret01";
				modelSides[] = {6};
			};
	};

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Heyo, maybe try this:

class HeadgearItem;
class ARBiH_Beret_Officer_Red: HelmetBase
{
    author = "$STR_RBiH_Author_Name";
    _generalMacro = "H_Beret_blk";
    scope = 2;
    displayName = "ARBiH Beret Officer (Red)";
    picture = "\CLUSTER\ARBiH_Equip\data\beret\ui\arbih_beret_officer_red_icon_ca.paa";
    hiddenSelectionsTextures[] = {"\CLUSTER\ARBiH_Equip\data\beret\arbih_beret_officer_red_co.paa"};
    model = "\A3\Characters_F\Common\headgear_beret01";
    allowedFacewear[] = {"G_Aviator","G_Balaclava_blk","G_Balaclava_oli","G_Bandanna_aviator","G_Bandanna_beast","G_Bandanna_blk","G_Bandanna_khk","G_Bandanna_oli","G_Bandanna_shades","G_Bandanna_sport","G_Bandanna_tan","G_Shades_Black","G_Shades_Blue","G_Shades_Red","G_Shades_Green"};
    class ItemInfo: HeadgearItem
    {
        mass = 6;
        allowedSlots[] = {801,901,701,605};
        uniformModel = "\A3\Characters_F\Common\headgear_beret01";
        modelSides[] = {6};
    };
};

Declare the "HeadgearItem" class, then inherit "ItemInfo" from "HeadgearItem" in your "ARBiH_Beret_Officer_Red" class, as seen above.

I have tried this and it does not give me  warning message but units end up having different beret and my texture does not show up.

This what they have in characters_f config.cpp file of Arma 3 and it seems to work with out warning message.

I think I know what the problem is then.

The class "HeadgearItem" doesn't have any hiddenSelections defined for it. So, when you try and apply your custom camo via "hiddenSelectionsTextures", it doesn't work. To fix this, see as I have below, I included the hiddenSelection on which you would be applying your custom camo to the model.

Give it a try and let me know.

class HeadgearItem;
class ARBiH_Beret_Officer_Red: HelmetBase
{
    author = "$STR_RBiH_Author_Name";
    _generalMacro = "H_Beret_blk";
    scope = 2;

        allowedSlots[] = {801,901,701,605};
        uniformModel = "\A3\Characters_F\Common\headgear_beret01";
        modelSides[] = {6};
	hiddenSelections[]={"camo"};
    };
};

This works the only thing now is that the weapon is not visible in first person.
