Description :

Kidal is a town and commune in the desert region of northern Mali. The town lies 285 km northeast of Gao and is the capital of the Kidal Cercle and the Kidal Region.

Known Issues :

-Edit texture mod RSPN Cave
-Improve the land on roads
-Add details in the city

Hi Cirav, thanks for a truly enormous and detailed map.

 

I have a slight problem though, even though there are large numbers of houses in Kidal city, none of them show up as buildings if I use nearestbuilding player. This is causing one of my ambient sounds scripts to fail to spawn sounds into nearby buildings - it can't find any!

 

Any clues as to why this might be?

Really nice map, although it's very barren outside the city, is it gonna be updated with some villages outside? There's a pretty huge road network, but it doesn't lead to much. If not, have you considered scaling down the size of the map to say, 30x30?

My Mirage 2000 is ready to take off :)

 

In my opinion : miss few village and miss some buildings for airport (I thought there was not :P)

@Redphoenix : Yes it's part of the things to see in a future release.

 

@tinter : I do not think adding other villages. I voluntarily expanded the map to give importance to the vehicles. The battle in the desert is a few very special. There are already many Arma map with lots of small villages and I do not see the interest to do the same.

 

@Jack Ost : yes I think improving the airport in a future release by trying to stick to reality. For the military base, I think I'll change in depth to meet the current version.

 

@tpw : Is your script is on Armaholic to do my own tests and to resolve this problem quickly.

Hi cirav. I tweaked the script to use nearestobject instead of nearestbuilding when it's running on Kidal, so it's working again. But if you are interested, it's part of this mod.

Bring additional fuel supplies.  You're sure to need them.  :D

 

Don't change a thing, cirav.  The size is perfect. The map is tank/air assault country.

Just a heads up the stadium seating stands Fire geo is bugged as you cant fire thru the open spaces of the back of the stands -the bullets just bounce off the empty air.

Hello Cirav, we had a game last night on it and we had fun to play on your newest map.

 

Here are my "request":

 

The start of the game was during the night in full moon but it was in my opinion way too dark. I would love to see it a bit "brighter".

 

There are also many rocks/bushes in the middle of the roads, it would be nice if you can remove most of them.

Hi Papanowel, thank you for your return.

For the moon, I 'll try to change that. I used the config.cpp file Stratis so I thought not having this kind of problem.

For objects on the road, it's one of the things I upgraded to the next version. It's a long job given the size of the card.

Is someone still working on this map? I like this map b/c it gives our helicopter pilots something to do but I think it needs some finishing touches.

Dude...last update is only 3 weeks ago! Chill and wait for the developer to get some time.

You can read in previous posts what he has planned to update.
