polarex 1 Posted May 22, 2016 A friend has a mac and i advised him to buy ARMA3 while we used to play Ghost recon for a long time. He bought ARMA3 and i installed the 1.54 legacy port. And what do we see: empty servers. Does this mean nobody on mac and linux actually play online? Why should the port devs even bother upgrading the port to 1.58 or later version while nobody plays online?
Vince_ 6 Posted May 22, 2016 Check your server filters. Also, there aren't many public servers that are on 1.54.
focher 15 Posted May 25, 2016 As Vince notes, public servers are almost certain to be running the latest version which is 1.58. The Linux and Mac ports are still on 1.54, and therefore cannot join the newer server versions. One option is to simply host your own game server. That will limit you and your friend to just playing together, but with certain missions this can be very fun. I suspect that the looming update to 1.60 is contributing to the Linux/Mac ports not being updated to 1.58 because the port developers might be waiting to just jump straight from 1.54 ---> 1.60. But that's just a guess.
