ILBE Assault Pack with RT-1523G / TFAR

Recommended Posts

This is an epic mod.

The release of this with the coyote or green variants would be good because we could then incorporate these into our British based equipment (authentic or not, we a limited for choice when it comes to TFAR radios).

Coyote is coming I just have to figure out how to implement ace interaction first before the next release.

As for the antenna: I decided to model the 80063 ASSY A3256529-1 heavily based on this picture.

In my research I've seen the antenna mostly completely folded or completely unfolded when used. The antenna is also used with a variety of manpacks which is also nice since I'd like to have the backpack for ACRE with the AN/PRC-117F as well.

So as an currently serving Marine 0621 Radio Operator, I must correct you on a couple of things... the antenna is this pic5FSXD6e.jpg is not the "Whip" antenna, that is a common blade antenna, most commonly used with VHF-Low Band Communication(20-108MHZ). The antenna in this pic...SC22TYF.jpg is what is known as the "10ft Whip" due to the fact that when fully assembled it will "whip" back and forth when you move. It too is also used in VHF-Low Band Communication commonly associated with SINCGARs(30-87.975MHZ) operations.

Hey timothy,

thanks for the info and in fact I had the names mixed up when I made the post. They are already corrected in the current dev build. ;)

Awesome!! Also hope my corrections didn't come off as being a dick, definitely did not mean it that way if they did!

I no way! I'm always looking for feedback!

So I finally was able to get the satcom antenna working as I imagined. It will be an deployable item via ace_interaction. If it is deployed and the player is in a certain radius it will boost radio range considerably. So in the end I think it will come in handy for example JTACS and communication over a very long range.

Awesome work, loving the actual SATCOM functionality, both cool and useful!

Do the other different antennas give different performance, or is it just cosmetic?

Forgot to mention that. They have different performance.

Whip: tf_range = 17000

Whip extended: tf_range = 25000

Blade: tf_range = 18000

DD: tf_range = 15000

The values are somewhat random and do not represent real world characteristics of the antennas unfortunately.

Have you thought about donating this mod to RHS or TFAR? Many people are not using your awesome mod just solely because it's standalone, another little thing to download, and unpack.

I know that this is some kind of bummer but no big deal for coop communities imho. I also do have some nasty requirements now (cba and ace) which will further complicate things. I'll gladly "give it away" though if I'm asked.

Yes, that's in meters. Default TFAR backpack radio range is 20000. You won't get that range in game tough since of terrain loss.

Can I change the value?

Only with a config that overwrites the values. I'm open to suggestions tough.

You need to have the item in your inventory. Then just place it with ace interaction https://i.imgur.com/nNY1brP.jpgand profit. The range is only increased if you are within 5 meters of the RF-3080.
