I've spent hours in the virtual arsenal making various different special loadouts for different roles and military units that are now dependent on those older vests and headgear, which have been pulled from the mod. :(

This is the pitfalls of having updates.. damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Is it possible to brign old vest back? They were great. The new one are great too, so Could You joint those two versions?

I won't bring old vests back. In my opinion there was barely any difference between different role vest this was why complete overhaul was needed to make them more distinguished. Remember theres a reason I also made back pouches. As of right now theres only two choices but later on I will add more. Now you will be able to create some very specific roles (For example take the Assaulter vest and add Bolt Cutter back pouch and you have Engineer loadout and etc)

Sorry. I knew this update will ruin most of the loadout's for players. But from now on I intend to keep this kind of structure of vests.

I will need more ideas for back pouches. Write your suggestions.

Hi Adacas and hi all! I'm new in the forum because I've never wirtten any post, but i really wanted to thank you for the amazing job you've done. I'm a lover of the 75th Ranger and this mod is literally a dream. Moreover I'm really enjoying this new update, the cutter is awesome.

With regards to the suggestion for the back pouches, I would suggest something like this, with the hydratation pouch on one side and small pouches/radio pouch on the other one. I have only a question if you don't mind: there is no holster on the vests without belts: is that a specific choice?

Sorry if I missed any mention of this but were the airframe helmets still planned for this mod?

Loving the updated gear, Adacas, I am a sucker for heavy looking, pouch laden vests and so your pack is brilliant already, even though it's in it's infancy still. I am sad about the caps as I absolutely adore them, the little surefire light on the brim makes me happy as hell. So far, looking great!

In regards to back pouches and what not (I leave out any brands, products or designations just as I believe it is easier for you to get a feel that way and then choose what you would like to actually use) I have a few ideas:

1: A heavier hydration carrier that looks more like a small, integrated backpack. (For general rifleman/operator use)

2: A larger radio or two with longer antenna. (To create comm's variants)

3: Spooled up rope/para cord, karibiners and a larger pouch (For some sort of combat climber variant)

4: Back mounted shotgun (much akin to the breacher vests in VSM's pack).

5: C4 pouches, chemlights galore and a tool kit for EOD or explosives specialists.

Just a few ideas for you to mull over. Not requests, you add what you want to add as it's your pack, but if you are after idea's then I will give a few :)

Anyway, stellar pack, man. I can't wait to see more!

Hey Adacas, fantastic pack!

I love the general quality and look of the vests, the textures, and especially the different variations, though I think it is a shame you removed the earlier variants with this update. The option to have a sidearm displayed even without the belt was great. And the more variants, the better! Oh, and not to be greedy or anything, but I personally am not such a fan of the Magpul magazines (I am still dreaming of someone making a vest with the clear G36 mags ;) ).

But I very much like the way that you have split up the vests and the back pouches, it just makes great sense.

All in all, thanks for the effort put into this awesome pack. Keep it up!

Cheers

Personally, I don't really like the pmags and I play arma as it's 2008 era and I know that this mod was made for the whole community, so closed pouches like the ones on marksman variant can be a better solution for that in my opinion

closed/open pouches are down to personal preference in real life, I run my vests with pouches open, have done since 2004. You're getting into the area now where the addon maker is catering for individuals, that's not how it works, as sure as there's shit in a dog, no matter what you produce, someone will always be unhappy, whether it's different pouches, different set-ups, different cammo's etc.

Like the request for the G36 mags, it means you're restricted to having that vest solely for the G36, or the SIG552's, as I don't know any other users of that magazine, if you're going to model magazines, then it's pretty sure you're going to model open top pouches so that the effort of making mags is worth it.

After all, with a closed pouch, it could contain anything you want inside it ;)

Personally the whole "wrong mags" thing has never bothered me, I'm running a vest to use it, not to take screenshots of it. Maybe if Arma 4 has modular vests, addon makers can realistically cater to everyone, but until then you just have to work with what you're (very kindly) given.

G'day Adacas,

Just had a chance to check out the new vests. Great job! Like the new specialties you have catered for, but could I request that you re-instate the grenadiers vest, as I believe that it is a specialist loadout, in the same vein as a medic or heavy gunner, as you have just released.

As far as suggestions for back panels;

A Dedicated Breachers Panel carrying Bolt Cutters, Halligan Tool, and Sledge Hammer - http://www.blackhawk.com/Products/Entry-Tools/Packs/Dynamic-Entry-Manual-Entry-Tool-Pack.aspx

An Entry/Shield Man Panel carrying flash-bangs, CS grenades, extra magazines for team mates

Just a couple of ideas. Please keep up the good work.

Cheers for the new release. Vests continue to look better each time. Also a quick thank you to warden_1 and all the other contributors to the project.

Those aren't new magazines. I had them from before I just didn't used them because magpul textures was really low quality. So I decided to redo the textures and now it looks better

Ah I see, they do look better ingame now, but compared to some of the other items they still look a bit low poly. In no way a dealbreaker though, looks fine overall.

Now as for the new vest configurations. I like them, but I would like to see the grenadier make a comeback atleast. I think that loadout is differentiated enough to warrant its own unique model. Likewise, you mentioned implementing an SMG loadout a while back. Has that idea been scrapped or will we see it included sometime in the future. The backpacks look great too, although the bolt cutters look quite a bit undersized to me. Also, I'd like to see pistol holsters returned on the light vests (without belts). Perhaps a simple UBL configuration would work if you cant place the gun on the vest. Just slap the pistol mags on the main carrier somewhere.

In any case, great work. It's unbelievable how much you progressed as an addon maker. It truly is a world of difference when you compare your earlier work to this latest release. I'm especially looking forward to the crye harness you teased a while back.

OK guys, in no way did I intend to appear ungrateful for the great work Adacas (and all other fantastic modders out there, including both of you) has done and is doing with this game. I cannot overstate how impressed I am with the skill and effort put into this mod. I merely provided my observations, and indeed I snug in a bit of wishful thinking. But I certainly did not mean to imply that it is not a superb mod. I think open feedback is what makes these forums, as long as it is constructive. It can be used or disregarded as seen fit.

Cheers

This is off topic, but just so we're clear, I myself am not a modder, I'm just the intermediary between Toadie and the BI forums. Toadie is the one doing the actual NIA content, with config assistance from Robalo and theYoursTruly. I just handle PM's, respond to common questions and relay anything I'm not equipped to answer to Toadie himself. (Sorry about the tangent Adacas)

Feedback is a good thing, but as an end user one should always be very careful about making requests too often, and should always make sure they're using the appropriate tone (as making an unsolicited request is essentially asking a favor from the modder).

Good effort on your release may I give you some feedback?

Not so sure about that tomahawk.. your other vest pack seemed a little more realistic I've been doing method of entry for about 10 years now I can't remember ever using a tomahawk, just wamrams crowbars and an axe.

Also the lack of pistol proxys on the vest is concerning, I think your old vest lay outs were more apt, however the new vests are good for added variety.

As for the backpacks possibly re-add the old backpacks as a patrol pack (ammo reserve).

The chemlights seem to be a bit bright also, usually when you have cylooms (chemlights) they tend to either get broken through movement or just covered in dust due too, well operational climates.

End of the day your going to do what your going to do, its your mod. I would suggest re-adding the old vests to the pack so the realisim geeks get their cut and the call of duty warriors get there's too.

Regardless, good effort mate keep up the good work.

Maybe the tomahawk could be used in replacement of the axe, as seen on medal of honor warfighter, yeah it's a game and i know that but it's based a lot on real operaors stuff as you know probably but this is just a supposition buddy, if you have done method of entry for all that time you know better than me those methods for sure :P

Maybe one of the upcoming DLCs will feature organic support for a third weapon in normal gameplay /wishful thinking. Incidentally, isnt that the late Dalton Fury?

Litle feedback from me:

I love the new vests, like the detail, variety and back pauches combo but I also would like to add myself to the request to re-add the old patrol backpacks, the one with light sticks and the one with the crowbar. They were very handy, looked very cool and also worked great with other vests.

Regards.

Guy with the homemade shotgun holster is the famous "Shrek" who appears in "Kill Bin Laden", other dude is "Dalton Fury". "Dalton Fury" is still alive I think, writes cheesy action paperbacks (About Kolt Raynor, maverick Delta Commander turned merc who, I'm sure, has no relation to the author)  and takes jobs advising everyone from video game developers, to nuclear plant security.

Offtopic, but I'm pretty sure Maj. Fury is not dead. He has been very unwell though

Edit: Apologies-he passed away on Friday. RIP Maj.Dalton.

It seems he passed away https://www.reddit.com/r/Military/comments/58o5of/major_thomas_greer_aka_dalton_fury_of_delta_force/

But yeah, shrek and dalton fury were always a good indicator for confirming CAG pictures, although shrek has some pictures of his time in a SF CIF (or whatever theyre called now) floating around. It's one of the reasons I mentioned old school paraclete gear when adacas was asking for suggestions.

I had to respond in that reddit thread because I hate seeing bad info, of which there was a ton, so then I had to do a 360 and walk away.
