Weapon sounds very faint at distance

So, working on the Operation: TREBUCHET mod, we've noted that the custom sounds we have created and converted to .wss sound very faint at a distance, making it near-impossible to hear them at 300m+ away.

 

Is this intended behavior, and is there any way to fix/mitigate it?

 

Here is an example config for the firemode of one of our weapons

 

A video showing the issue can be made, if necessary.
