Why won't AI driven vehicles follow waypoints anymore?

Recommended Posts

Can't seem to figure out what the heck I'm doing wrong here. I want the mission to initialize with the player and their squad in an APC and have them be driven to a location and dropped off, something I have done a thousand times in the old 2D editor, but since 1.56 I can't figure out what's wrong. I have an APC, I dragged and dropped my squad into it, I clicked on the APC itself and gave it a waypoint to drop the squad off, then a waypoint to return to the nearby base. When I click preview (or "play singleplayer" or whatever it says now) the APC just sits there, engine off, nothing happening. Very frustrating. In the old editor I simply gave a manned AI vehicle a waypoint and they did it. Now I guess it's different or doesn't work anymore?

LOL, I figured it out. GG Bohemia Interactive, the drag and drop into vehicle feature is essentially useless...

For those having the same issue, you can't use the fancy new features like you would think you should be able to (because that would be convenient and logical, so of course it won't work properly). You need to use the good old fashioned moveincargo command and make sure all of the units are "outside" of the vehicle in the 3D editor. The only saving grace is that at least I only have to type the moveincargo command once since you can edit attributes for the entire squad.

I should post this on the feedback tracker....oh wait.....

Hello,

thank you for the feedback and sorry for the inconvenience.

Could you please upload a simple repro mission (sqm file) to some free file sharing service and PM the link with some repro steps that would describe what you are trying to achieve and what is the result?

It will help me a lot to reproduce this issue and to find out what exactly might be wrong.

Thank you

For the record I'm not mad, I realize my posts may have seemed sarcastic or angry. I know crap like this happens all the time in the programming world and I worked around it so it's whatever. But thanks for taking the time to reply.

Of course, in typical computer world fashion, today it works fine if I create a new scenario. So maybe the scenario I was making got messed up somehow (AI helicopters were refusing to land for me too, which is usually my sign the scenario is somehow corrupted). It's still messed up in the original scenario though, so I'll upload the mission folder to a file hoster and PM you a link so you can take a look.
