Hello everyone! I hope your weekend is going well. Today we have two offensive grenades for the US forces: the iconic Mk II fragmentation grenade and the Mk III A1 concussion grenade.

The Mk II grenade is a fragmentation grenade widely used by the US armed forces and several other countries during the first half of the 20th century. Very special thanks and a shout out to sabre for his awesome work on the texture!

Next is a grenade that, while not as iconic, has a variant that remains in limited US service to this day. The Mk III A1 grenade is a demolition and general concussion grenade used by US forces. As with most concussion grenades, it excels in close quarters such as bunkers and trenches.

In addition, member RedPheonix has been working on a set of radios to appear in IFA3, the first of which is the Russian Sever-bis (Север-биÑ). And if you haven’t checked out IFA3 lately, be sure to jump over to the latest thread

This thing has been used since WW1, too. Talk about an effective design, it's beat only by the Colt M1911 in service life.

It's the picturesque no-nonsense handgun; single-stack, .45 ACP, and very reliable (there's a reason M1911s produced in 1944 were still being used in the Gulf War.) Can't think of a more stubborn pistol than that. Except maybe Patton's SAA .45, but details, right? Excited to see how it'll be portrayed in this mod.

Fucking exactly! Such a beautiful pistol! For me what I really want to see most in this mod is the M1911 and the M1 Garand.

Hello and welcome to another update! I hope everyone had a good weekend, as well as a happy Father’s Day for those in the US. Today we have two accessories that may be a welcomed sight to many rifle squads: the American M7 grenade launcher for the M1 Garand and the German Gewehrgranatgerät for the K98k rifle.

The Gewehrgranatgerät is a grenade-launching cup introduced in 1942 as a way to increase the firepower of a typical rifle squad. The model shown here was used mainly on K98k rifles, but could also be fitted to other rifles with a similar front sight post (such as the K98b and G33/40(t)). In the future, a G/K43-specific variant will be available.

The M7 grenade launcher was created to enable US riflemen to use their M1 Garand rifles as a grenade-launching platform—up until this point the M1903 was the primary rifle grenade platform for US forces, although a similar launcher did exist for the M1917 Enfield rifle.

No.

Still half finished. Getting a propper Stock on the whole rifle is taking its toll.

Hello everyone! I've been hard at work on the M1 Garand and wanted to show some WIP teasers--hopefully they give some small insight into what is involved in creating accurate firearm models.

That M1 is a work of art. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished model! However, I have one item of constructive criticism. Yeah, I'm going to be "that guy" with the nitpick :D. The gas cylinder lock currently on the model is actually a post war, as in 1950s, lock, which is called the "high hump" gas cylinder lock. The correct WW2 gas cylinder lock is completely round on the top with no hump, and it has a bevel on the front edge. Here's a site that explains the differences: http://www.billricca.com/locks.htm

Also, in case you don't know already, you'll probably be looking at a Type 2 or 3 lock bar rear sight if you're modeling a mid to late war M1. The type 2 bar is rounded while the type 3 is square. Here's a good graphic that explains the different sights: http://www.90thidpg.us/Equipment/Reviews/ReproLockbars/Images/rear%20sight%20types.jpg

Hope that helps a bit. Keep up the great work. Definitely looking forward to this mod!

Can you try to find a better picture? I can't really see the difference with the pictures in the links.

Sure thing. Here are a few of a WW2 era gas cylinder lock:

Note how the top is completely round with no hump, as well as a slight bevel along the top front face.

Here's a few side views as well where you can see the bevel along the top face.

And a couple muzzle views.

Contrast that with the 1950s high hump lock currently on the model:

Also, here's a better picture of the rear sights.

Hope that helps!

Did they say they wouldn't put the swastika in at the first place?

They have to provide a version without swastikas to comply with German law, which for compatibility's sake and minimizing the amount of stuff they have to upload etc would probably be the default version.

Look at their Facebook. There's no swastikas on the German Helmets.

Hence why I'm asking, if after release, they will make a different version compatible with the censored. Like IFA3 and IFA3 Lite.

I’m not authorized to answer on behalf Westwall, but I already asked about this on Facebook. Answer is: “Yes, everything will be uncensoredâ€.

Yeah I doubt they will censor anything. Arma is a mature community I doubt anyone will REALLY mind them.  Don't call me a nazi please, lol I am not supporting them I am just saying we are mature, we can handle them.

In late 44 and 45 many Wehrmacht Soldiers actually removed Nazi Parties symbols from their equipment and only left the normal german marking because they felt like they were just defending germany from getting overrun by the russians and not fighting for the nazi party, at least thats what i heard from my Grandfather who served as a Hauptmann in the Wehrmacht.

Will we see M44 and M45 feldblüsen in this mod? Any made of differing color materials, such as Italian wool, late war "brown" wool, and typical Feldgrau? If added, M44 shoulderboards would be a nice touch in addition to the eagle and late-war generic kragenspiegel (collar insignia).

Any other late war German kit ideas such as French and Italian mess kits, multi-colored bakelite canteen cups, and webbed gear (although this wasn't necessarily just a late-war thing)?

The GI helmets look great! Helmet nets that are torn from being frayed on the tops would be a nice touch.

Actually, speaking of helmet nets, I'd love to see the German issue nets as well as chicken-wire and baling wire options.

Having the French involved is fantastic! Not represented enough. They were feared by the Germans as being as ruthless as the Russians. With good cause, naturally. Any real historian knows the might of the French people.

I have a lot more to ask and say, but I'll keep it at this for now. Needless to say, extremely excited for this mod!

It's not about what the players can handle, it's about what is legal and what not.

Swastikas in ANY form of game in Germany are illegal. And as probably lots of players in Germany will be using it, as far as I know, gurdy planned to release a version without and a patch with swastikas.

In France, too, is illegal and "ss" runes are also affected by the ban.
