Will-my-pc-run-Arma3? What cpu/gpu to get? What settings? What system specifications?

Hit 92.1fps, better but still far from ideal

Try to OC your ram and LOWER the latency. I think you can increase the voltage a little then lower the latency. You should try to place a fan over the RAM because it will get hotter with more performance but ARMA eats up lower latency fast ram along with high IPC cpu.

Do a search online for your RAM model and type in OC to see what settings other have used.

He gets 128fps with overclocked 12900k and 4000CL14. I get 75 fps with stock 12600k and 4200CL18. Should the gap really be that big? What am I doing wrong?

Considering ordering a 4000CL15 kit for myself

Well, your 12600K has 1/3 cache less than 12900K.

Cache size boosts FPS.

12900K is OC'ed to 5.4 GHz.

He has disabled the E-cores, since they reduce FPS by 10-15.

Your 12600K is only at 4 6-4.7 GHz.

He has the best RAM there is.

You RAM is below average.

And he hasn't even tuned his RAM - it runs at XMP.

So more than 128 FPS average is possible, like 135 or 140.

Thx for the advice to @Groove_C
Followed the following steps:

1 Lowered CPU Voltage 1.34V

2 Did some RAM tuning (see bleow - not all is done)

3 Used the new malloc

will continue during the holidays...

What version of windows are you using? Upgraded to 12900k(5.2GHz) and 4000CL15(Gear2) and only managed 107fps.

He turned OFF the ecores as well so you can try it to see if it will boost your performance and Overclock.

He has it at 5.4 GHz cores and 4.9 GHz cache, Win 11 and his RAM is not CL15, but CL14 and most importantly - it runs in gear 1.

Gear 2 ruins the performance.

Hi there!

@dadax Since I consider myself to be in the market to maybe upgrade my CPU this or next cycle I'm really interested in your performance tests on ArmA!
My current system runs on an i7-7700K, oc''ed to 5GHz - so I presume there indeed is quite a bit of headroom to be gained these days, if I'm reading things right?

Me too. I need to upgrade this new year, so interested in as many results as pos.

Impressive, but a bit synthetic. I haven't used a view distance of 1600mm since Flashpoint 🙂

His CPU and RAM settings aren't stable.

+ tested without BattlEye.

+ he disabled 8 cores and disabled Hyper-Threading.

-I do not need Battle Eye in COOP so of course it is disabled, I dont play KOTH.
-8 E-cores are disabled to allow the Cache to be overclocked, Hyperthreading gives only minimal to none fps improvements with

the 12900K and produces unnecessary heat.

Yes you are right but those settings have been used in all the previous benchmarks

Do you know where I can find it? Do you have a link?

Ok, but when you share your YAAB results, you have to mention CPU model, cores and cache frequency, Hyper-Threading on or off, E-cores on or off, BattlEye on or off, RAM frequency, primary timings and 1:1 or 1:2 mode, for everybody to be able to understand where the FPS comes from.

Because sharing FPS only and 0 info is not how it works here.

Nobody should have to guess.

THX for the link @Horus
https://www.igorslab.de/en/intel-deactivated-avx-512-on-alder-lake-but-fully-questionable-interpretation-of-efficiency-news-editorial/

This article also adresses the question - should you update your z690 board, probably very likely with a DDR5 board.

I dont see the need for update right now - it works very fine with AVX512 and DDR4.
If I had a DDR5 board I believe i could profit from future updates, will follow the patchnotes.

Addition: I just checked the MSI website and its support section. The same BIOS update is offerd, that I installed. I also compared the file size, it is identical.
This is the BIOS version that enabled the AVX512 option in the BIOS after disabling the E-Cores.

If in next bios MSI add that new microcod you have UBU tool to fix that.

edit:

and don't forget that M$ can also update MC with some of the updates.

I get about 122 fps at 12700k with the overclocking settings indicated by dadax
memory BL2K16G36C16U4BL 16-20-20-40-CR1 gear1 3900 MHz

cache 4.8

cpu 5.1

malloc GJK_Ampersand_Edition_Tbbmalloc_v202150_AVX512.dll

on a Ryzen 5900x with the same memory 3733 I had a maximum of 90fps
