trying to edit ofp addon to arma3

Recommended Posts

ok, I hope I'm posting this in the right place ..

I'm not positive were to start with ..

so first I will say the addon I'm trying to edit from ofp is the dragonfly.

I thought it would be simple , for may first.

So going thru the pbo I tested all paa and pac files all opened there were no errors..

but when it comes to the p3d ... arma tools cant open them...

is there any way to edit (ofp) p3d so  I can edit them ?

and please so you understand .. my concept of this,

arma3 is fun , ofp was the ultimate beginning to open engine and game play.

arma3 seems to lack some of the things I enjoyed in ofp.

and yes, some people still (like me) would love to play (not so simulated) .

I redid an ofp mission to arma3 and it lacks the fun that ofp was.

and I think its not the arma3 engine but more to do with new gamers wanting real full simulation game play (which arma3 gives them) .

but at the same time they don't know about the ofp gaming (back in the day) ofp.

So .. I want to keep this post short do to .. flaming.. (please don't)

I figured if I start learning porting or addon making , to get some of the good ol ofp mods into arma3.

like the dragonfly and jetpack..

any how , I looked thru the wiki..

searched the forums...

and I didn't see how to...

So if anyone has info please post .

and if some one is already doing this awesome can I help?

or if some one wants to help me that would be cool too.

So my first issue is the p3d.

second with be the config.

thank you ...

A good question, could also be that the inability to open the P3D is because its Binarized...

thanks for replies...

in the end if all goes well I'm hoping to add a lot of lost addons from old ofp...

but need to learn a bit.

ok email no good, searched members in BIS and the only Sebastian in 2002 era joind 2001 and isn't around ...

I find link in google to posts but there related to addons not him...

so what do I do next?

I personally don't see him being mad about an addon he made to get a rebirth 13 years later ...

Without a written permission, even if you can't reach the guy, it means you cannot port stuff. If unable to answer, then the answer is NO, no matter of what you personally consider

You can simply try to create your own addon from scratch, instead of porting other's people work, especially when unreachable. It might actually be even safer/sane_r since you'll be doing it right for A3.

I know if I mess with it I could do something .. but I see what your saying..Id be a bit pissed if I came back after what ever years and see somone took over my stuff ..

So you are wright .. but if there are addons from that time that state anyone can modify , then ?

OK, for me to make my own

is there a list of todo to start off?

or some arma3 standard to go by?

tools ill need?

or even maybe hint to what pbo in arma3 would be good to have a starting point (for config or what ever)?

ps . I love your mod PuFu, I'm using it in KaRRiLLioNs RTS from ofp/arma1 (with permission)
