Dead Catalina Rising (Coop 6 players and SP)

DFB841EFAFC86129531714A8A0E5B89FBBFA0FD1

Mission on Steamwokshop:

THIS MISSION USES RICK_B´s ZOMBIES AND HAS WORKING LOOT/HUNGRY/THRISTY MODULES - read instructions below...

[uPDATE: It doesn´t requires AiA TP, as Santa Catalina Island is standalone... silly me lol ;) ]

ION PMC has been playing with biochemical warfare and finally got burnt! An undercover/blackops experiment with a test H1Z1 strain on Santa Catalina Island (right next to California shores) population has gone wrong, and now you and your 6 men PMC BO team have got to scaravenge for suplies and kill your way out of a zombie horde to get to the island´s airport, refuel an old skied Antonov An-2 and fly back to ION PMC headquarters to report back the flopped experiment (or not so floppied, as it showed almost 98% efficiency on turning the indigenous civilian population on enraged canibals killing machines...)

It features Rick_Bs zombies, IMHO better zombies with boomer/smokey/fast and slow and ressurected units zombies (I have an old 4 y.o. PC and these monsters don´t make it choke)

This mission has working survival modules and requires the following mods:

Rick_B´s Arma3 Inventory Itens/Survival modules - http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=28752

Rick_B´s Walkers (aka Zombies) - http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=29006

RKSL Attachments (for cool LDS scope on loot) - http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=25843&highlight=RKSL%2BLDS

and last, but not least, Sabre´s Antonov An-2 A2 port - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=375881770&searchtext=Antonov

... and I recomend playing with ACE3 for an extra challenge! http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=28557

... and Cunico´s Hidden Identity Pack for Gas Masks (protect against Smokey´s Killing Haze) - http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=24936&highlight=HIDDEN%2BIDENTITY

... and MOCAP mod to beat the crap outta zombies if you run dry on ammo - http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=27262&highlight=MOCAP

Instructions on Rick_B´s Survival Modules:

You may find scattered through enterable houses/cafes/shops and gas stations a sort of itens, such as sodas, canteens, canned meat, raw meat, duct tapes, laptops, smartphones, woodpiles, water purification, antibiotics, matches, nails, hammers, axes, wrenchs, saws, knifes, water plastic bottles, fuel packs, etc etc... ohhh, somes zombies may have loot with them, whenever you can, search them!
Most of those itens have functions and can be combined/crafted into FAKs, fireplaces or fix vehicles or clean polutted/salty waters into drinkable and heal illness and injuries... you just have to double click the item on your gear/inventory window to use it (and if you have all the needed itens to craft, they´ll be crafted)
Some functions or combinations/crafted itens:
Polutted/Salty water + Water purification tabs = clean water
Woodpile + matches = fireplace
Lit fireplace + raw meat = cooked meat
Dead/hunted animal + knife (scroll menu action "gut animal") = raw meat steaks
Raw meat makes you ill, but if you have antibiotics, you get healthy again
and so on... you get 10% hungry/thristy for each 10 minutes of gameplay, so eat some loot and survive (or get hasty to the airport with the fuel truck or lotsa fuel packs!!!)

Known issues:

Goats and Lambs are invisible, blame BIS for breaking animal modules since v1.42 (you can see their shadow thou)
Sometimes the modules break (blame BIS for poor script stability lol)
Sometimes a big horde is spawn, sometimes just a fewer zombies as scattered (not everyone is perfect, guys!)
"arma_home_1.texture" error pops up (Santa Catalina´s error, blame Got_ Dead_ for this lol)

Thanks/Credits:

BIS for this awesome military shooter sandbox, addictive as heck, big fan since OPF days...

Misty Ronin for his ION PMCs mod and mission mentoring (as well as SIG aka Phantom for convincing me to publich this, and inspiring me with his Doomsday Night series)

RHS for their awesome Escalation mod

Sabre for his Antonov (and other A2 airplane ports)

Shay_gman for his uncanny MCC (make arma easier)

Rick_Bs for his modules and zombies

Got_ Dead_ for Sta Catalina Island

DA12TH Monkey for LDS scope

CBA team and KJU for their essentials mods (CBA and AiATP)

Foxhound and Big for hosting my missions on Armaholic (best ArmA series content repository evah =)

and on and on and on (sorry if I forget to mention your work... hit me and I´ll add it here =D) ... happy survival/zombie carnage! =)

Cheers!

Nice work, Lib! ;)

Thanks Rawner, but it is just a mission relying on Rick_B modules... I REALLY WANT YOUR MOD (DSS) so I can have the true sandbox zombie experience =D

Big fan!

Cheers!

You´re welcome Evil Organ! The last 3 mods on the list are only "recommended" not requirements ;) And I had wondered if I could have made this mission more vanilla, but it would loose its "flavour" (or may I say McFlavour?) lol

But to use Rick_B´s functionality on any maps, you only need CBA and Rick_B´s mods... all the rest is just for immersion =D

Cheers!

First post updated with Armaholic´s link - http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=29548#c66172

Thanks a lot Foxhound and Big for hosting it at the best arma content repository ever (haters gonna hate, haters gonna ain´t ;)

to everyone else: have you guys found the "secret survival stash"? (kinda gold mine of Rick_B itens, it is somewhere near, so people can test most of its functions)... most of the loot is random, but there´s also some A grade acessories (LDS scope, vanilla NV scope, a 5.56 supressor and a FAK) at a special place on Avalon... go treasure hunt, guys =D

I have also noticed that you can find knife (to gut animals) mostly on walkers inventory/loot, but very rarely spawned on loot areas... so don´t forget to hunt and gut the invisible goats and ghost sheeps, yay!

cheers!

Mmmm...I do like a "secret survival stash" hunt ^_^

I'm a big fan of Rick_B's mod, a very polished functional set of modules, glad to see it put to good use.

I totally agree with these sentiments, i have released a few missions in the past and when they pop up on Armaholic's front page......"Guy's we have reached the mountain top"

Ohhh silly me! This mission (at least Catalina Island is kinda standalone) doesn´t require AiA TP, hey Moderators, could you guys edit my title to "Mini-DayZ / Dead Catalina Rising [sP/COOP-6] RHS+Rick_B Walkers" ????

Thanks Evil-Organ for the heads up!

cheers!

[PS: @Evil-Organ - there´s is kinda 2 secret stash, as there´s the Rick_B itens ammobox and those neat acessories in 2 distinctive places on Avalon ;)

Updated steamworkshop link, as some kid must have flagged my mission as inapropriate (as a mod, dwarden blocked it as it was an illegal reupload of third parties mods to steam) so I had to reupload the mission, and double checked for any content (which wasn´t, it is a MISSION with 172 kb of data.. how could it be bundled with any third party content, may I ask???? it was kinda automatic response, I doubt Dwarden had really opened up my PBO to fiddle its content, or else he´s find nothing wrong... or was it the use of "MINI-DAYZ" on the title that flagged me? We shaw not use thee bohemia mighty zombie survival game name in vain!!!!!)

Hope to not be again victim of a kid/teenager shenanigans again =P

cheers!

[Edit] It may have been a "haters flagging" (of some entitled kid) but Dwarden argumented that the mission had some suspicious extra weight (2.5 mb of screenshots for the Armaholic media kit got inside the mission file... inocuos stuff, but the size could raise some suspicious) anyways, no harm done, mission back on track and now we have an extra "Director´s Cut" variant =)

5th play-through I found a nice crate full of stuff where I swear I have looked before. Is that in a random location or am I just blind and missed it?

It depends... on the first version (before the temporary block and the directors cut), this crate was all the time located REALLY close to the initial spawn point (I´ve said here it was literally "under the nose" as we say down here...), then on the DC and "Jailbreak" versions you have 3 survival crates scattered (one extra on avalon, close to "other" goddies, other on the road to the airport)

Have anybody tested the Directors Cut edition? I´m afraid I´ve added dependacies to both AiA TP and AZSC fix by adding a C-130 wreckage... I´ll update tomorrow (deleting it or finding other vanilla wreck) if that´s the case!

Cheers!
