NEW MAP : Gunkizli

Recommended Posts

I'm pleased to present my latest terrain for Arma 3 : Gunkizli.

The map is a 20 x 20 km plain.

Main features :
More than 100 villages and hamlets, 3 Airfields, heavy wood cover and vast expanses of shalow marshes.

A note on performances :
This map has close to 3 000 000 objects. And view distance is ralely over a couple hundred meters.
I recomment to set view distance  to 1200m , and if you can set shadows to 200m.

Nice map (again!) Makhno :)

One quick question: what is the real world inspiration for this map ?

I had 2 error messages while testing it but forgot to write them down. I'll do it next time.

Hello,

an open range, a deep forest, swamp areas, water and fields - flat and hilly...a lot for hiding troops and free areas for a huge tank battle...sweeet!

Thanks for that I will check it out.

Greetings

Ah, looks like i forgot I had buildings from IslaDuala here.

Added dependencies to  "Ibr_Dtowns" and "Ibr_Plants".

THey're probably not very numerous, so I'll replace them for next version.

Regarding the setting : There's no specific area replicated here, I wanted to make a map with no hills, so that combat occurs at relatively close range. Also added hedgerows and large open ( cultures area) to make vehicle combat more interesting.

Awesome looking map! I think it has more middle east look than mediterranean. Iraq, Syria, maybe Israel..

Really nice, would it be possible to pack the two dependencies with the map? Might make it easier for people to use. Really looking forward to future updates too.

2 words: Southern Louisiana xD

also my only issue here is the ground being nothing but farmland in most places that aren't towns and forests

Not a bad punt for a first shout. However I would recommend loosing the dependencies on IBR and replacing it with default or AiA buildings/foliage to ease compatibility and cut errors.

Excellent work, much as your other maps!

Feels like Eastern Eurasia to me.  Love the geographic look & feel, however the buildings feel wrong.  For my 2c I'd use the stock Arma 3 buildings, think they'd work better.

I cannot seem to get this to work loaded from PW6 - spits out AiA errors ?

Anyone else getting that ?

Just to clarify do we need AllInArma or AiA_TP ?

Cheers

You need the Arma2 and arma 2 OA 3D objects.

You don't need any of the maps themselves.

What errors do you get exactly ?

Well I was trying to run it with AiA_Tp... I'm looking to see if we can add it to our Mod repo - AiA_TP is ok but not AllInArma.

With AiA_TP it just crashes on launch

Are there objects or units within your map that specifically need AllInArma as a preference to AiA_TP ?

Will get the errors on a grab next chance

I see 2 possibilities :

1-I may have left a dependency for IAI_World or something like that in the island config while struggling with the dust declarations ( that don't work anyway).

2-Try to remove makdust.pbo if you've installed it. (It's a dirty config modified from allinarma, that I would have been better advised not to incude here).

Nice!

Has anyone tested the compatibility with CUP Terrain pack? AiA TP is no longer supported as far as I know and is pretty much going obsolete.

This is really cool map.  Thanks for the release.

BUG Report:

-Cannot shoot through all windows.  Sorry don't have exact location at the moment.  It was a larger town south of the central airfield.

Thanks

Hello,

Glad you like the map, but I can't fix problems with the objects (Trees, buildings....) as they are provided by other addons, "all In Arma" and Ibr_dtowns.

You may try to use CUP terrain pack instead of All In Arma, but there's absolutely no guarantee it will work or enhance your experience.

Thanks man, makes sense.  I think CUP will probably address most of the previous arma content.  Guess just not sure if its Arma content, or JBAD/etc..
