It has been a busy time for the group since we last updated our old thread. We have completed an intense period of pre-deployment training and have now deployed to the middle east on an operational tour, Operation Eagle Fury.

We have also recently re-vamped our recruitment and training program to better immerse new members in the UK Special Forces selection and training experience. The course itself is modular in design and designed to teach our SOPs in a challenging, yet fun, manner. Although we call our training course 'Selection', in keeping with the realistic approach to our group, we do not reject/kick out those who struggle during Selection. We merely offer optional extra training.

Our group replicates, as much as game and mod limitations allow, the TTPs and operational tempo of 6 Troop, M Squadron of the Special Boat Service, which in real life is a part of the UK Special Forces Group. For the Americans in the community think of the SBS as a British DEVGRU and you're close. We carry out operations in a variety of environments, from maritime to land-based operations utilising a variety of insertion methods, from HALO/HAHO to aquatic and other methods, and we have a number of former and serving UK Armed Forces members in the group, as well as veterans from other countries.

Although we have rank structure our approach is laid back and relaxed. Within reason. We do not address each other by rank and everyone is encouraged to share their opinion, however when the patrol commander/IC makes their decision then the discussion is over.

Recruitment is open. We are seeking motivated and active people to join the group and we have numerous patrol skills to suit most tastes.

We are also still seeking pilots. Pilot applicants will have the option to become either a normal patrol member in the group, only flying when we need air taskings, or, become a full time pilot within the group. Those who choose to fly full time with us must understand that, although we will ensure there is as much for them to do as possible, they may face long periods with little or no rotary wing taskings from the ground callsigns, therefore they must be fully conversant with UAVs and other ISTAR assets so they may support the teams deployed on-task. Our only rule for the flight section at this time is that pilot applicants have good experience at flying in ArmA 3.

It has been a busy time for the group since our last update. We have finished our deployment on Op Eagle Fury and are now re-acquainting ourselves with maritime special operations at our custom facility on Altis.

In this time we have refreshed and continue to develop our knowledge of operating underwater, both with SDVs and without, Heli-casting, small boat operations and shore/beach infiltration and extraction. Our future plans are to continue to build upon these skils and others such as Maritime CT, use of raiding craft and much more...

We have also carried out another Selection course and have welcomed some new members to the group. We have also streamlined and refined our Selection process, based on feedback received. The course now is shorter and more concise, with a lot of training being carried out "on the job" to allow new members to integrate with the rest of the group more quickly.

We are also quite open to joint operations with other groups in the ArmA community. If you are interested in arranging a joint Op with us then please either PM myself or go to our website and get in touch there.

Update time!

Since our last update (yes it's been a while) we have welcomed new members to the group and thrown ourselves into Squadron training, learning new skills and refreshing old ones, and we have now deployed on our latest campaign, Operation Templar on the Hindu Kush map.

Opertational Overview - Op Templar

Due to the extensive bombing campaign by Russia and the NATO coalition in Syria and Iraq, key ISIS leaders have fled the Persian Gulf and have gone into hiding in the mountains of Tora bora in the Hindu Kush Valley. The Afghan Government have warned ISIS to stay out of Afghanistan or be attacked, but, due the Taliban's current attempt to take key areas of Afghanistan, they are in no way capable of stopping ISIS moving in. The Taliban too have warned ISIS to stay out of Afghanistan.

Because the SBS, along with US special forces, were so successful in the hunt for Al Qaeda during the early days of the Afghan war we have been given the task, along with our US counterparts, to seek out and destroy the ISIS leadership in the Hindu Kush area...

We have already deployed to the area in vehicles and are now laying up in a covert hide awaiting our first tasking. We will be conducting operations such as covert recce, dismounted close combat, hit and run raids using vehicles and many more. This will be a highly intense and persistent campaign and so far, it has gotten off to a great start.

Recruitment and Selection

Recruitment for the next selection course is open and dates will be posted in due course. We are still seeking motivated and active people to join the group. As stated in previous posts there are skills and positions to suit most tastes and we welcome applicants of all skill levels over the age of 18.

pre-requisites:

18 years old or over

Can read, write and speak English

Own a legal copy of ArmA 3

Own a working mic/headset

Have Teamspeak and ArmA3Sync installed or, if not, are willing to download them

New-look website

We are also in the process of re-building our website, giving it a fresh look and adding new content. Our forums, however, are fully functional, if a little empty on content due to the site re-build.

Since our last update, we have successfully completed Op TEMPLAR and returned to Squadron training, where we ran another Selection course for new recruits, refreshed our Squadron SOPs and began training for our next deployment – Op BRIMSTONE – to take on ISIS forces in Al Rayak.

OP BRFIMSTONE BRIEF

Our main task is to capture, or kill, two British national HVTs, callsign's Messiah and Bandit. Their exact locations are unknown, therefore we must engage with the locals covertly to build up the J2 picture and find the HVTs. The discontent of the civilian population, due to the previous NATO occupation, has seen local fighters join the ranks of  ISIS. This increases each day. Squadron patrols must exercise extreme caution when meeting local civpop.

Our secondary task is to support the local government forces maintain positions and control of Al Rayak. NATO command has decided that we are to assist and prevent terrorist forces spreading around the region and taking control.

The enemy are well equipped and highly organised and they have proven their effectiveness in combat. They control most of the urban areas and harass the military continuously. The enemy have become a strong influence in Al Rayak and recently have increased their movements and attacks in the North of the region

This campaign will be a long term and persistent campaign with an ever evolving story line where the next mission depends on the outcome achieved on the previous Op's.

We are still recruiting and continue to welcome motivated and active people to join our group, with Selection and Continuation training held regularly, and patrol skills and employments to suit most tastes.
