Hidden textures

I am currently working on a vehicle pack for 3CB and would like to know if it is possible to use hidden textures on a proxy model. The reason I ask is because I am trying to reduce the number of models needed in the pack in order to reduce the overall size.

 

At the moment I have four vehicles, two of which are identical but in a different camo scheme - i.e. Desert and Woodland. I know it is possible to use hidden textures in the config to change the camo on the main model (i.e. the external vehicle), but without being able to do the same with the internal proxies, any player getting into a woodland camo vehicle, would find that the internal sections would still be in a desert yellow. If it is not possible, I will stick with having four different models, linking to seperate proxies, but it would be nice to know for future projects if it is possible.
