PitViper 0 Posted October 14, 2002 ... a M88 recovery vehicle! you'd probably see one of these bad boys coming in to help if there was a vehicle (particularly heavier armored ones) in need of recovery. Â I think it would be more appropriate to have for an ingame repair vehicle. Â Just my opinion http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/m88a1-crane.jpg http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/m-88a1-arv-dvic352.jpg http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/m-88a1-arv-dvic353.jpg http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/m88a1e1.htm
Spitfire 0 Posted October 14, 2002 Not a bad idea, though using it does need pretty advanced scripting to make it work like it should. What I can't understand is how that thing does it without tipping over in the first picture?

cybrid 0 Posted October 14, 2002 I personaly hate the idea of the repair truck, its so unrealistic. If a tank is damage, nature should be allowed to take its course, which usually results in the tanks death. However than recovery vehical would be a nice addon
BlueJames 1 Posted October 14, 2002 How about the M728(M60) Engineer Vehicle? And for the Soviets, T-72 Engineer (ARRV) BREM-1?
Guest BratZ Posted October 15, 2002 Recovery vehicle would be nice, and it just so happens that I am just finishing tweaking my Tow Truck/Trailer script, so get to work
der bastler 0 Posted October 15, 2002 Want a truck-trailer skript? Get it here.
Guest BratZ Posted October 15, 2002 Yes that script is similiar to mine, just that mine checks that both units are still alive ,and also hooks to any vehicle and attaches any vehicle. And mine is a set to track a few feet behind the main vehicle and follow a point in front of the tow vehicle ,so it rotates on an axis like its hooked like a trailer, and it checks the speed of the main vehicle and closes the difference faster/slower depending on the traveling speed, among some other things, like I said just tweaking it out Hopefully when I am done, you will just have to add the trailer and hopefully wont have to name anything specific (could be used in any game) I have an idea to track an enclosed trailer (less cpu usage) and the trailer will contain a vehicle (that doesnt have to track) Because it will disappear when you close the door and reappear when you open it and during the game the cpu will only have to track the trailer. Working so that people start making semis and possible multiple car/tank trailers is the objective (open trailer with 2 tanks would be nice) . Can I position vehicle proxies on vehicles so that it loads vehicles like it does people?
Papageorge 0 Posted October 15, 2002 While on the Subject of Support... Why not make a mine clearing unit?
FSPilot 0 Posted October 15, 2002 Because we only have AT mines, I don't think it would be that useful. AP mines would rock.
-crow- 0 Posted March 28, 2003 Sorry to bump this post but, I think it (M88) would add reallism to the game. If you have tanks around you will have a M88 around. Even a static one would be nice.
pzvg 0 Posted March 28, 2003 Had one built but scrapped it <looked awful> might try it again but can't say for sure if I will, note, It gets killed VERY fast, since it's a tank type everything fires at it.

edc 0 Posted March 28, 2003 THey probably would be a little be behind the lines (on the friendly side) IRL. I doubt they'd be with the first group of tanks in.
crewcutkid 0 Posted March 29, 2003 Wow, that would be great, but, 1- Whats the point? It will only lag a game down 2- Use a HEMMT! 3- How would that thing be scripted 4- I thought that thing went out of service in favor of an engineer vehicle based on the M1 Abrams -Crew
