How do I force the AI to use binoculars?

The title says it all.

I could have sworn that I saw this before, but...I searched and couldn't find it. Sorry if I missed it somehow.

I'm trying to force one of the AI units to behave as he is scouting an area from a tower.

I can place him where I like, but I can't get him to use his binocs...

I'd also like him to be able to use his rifle when he comes under attack if possible.

Thanks in advance folks.

 

PS - will your solution also work with sidearms?

this selectWeapon "Binocular";

The best way in my opinion to create such things is wrote a script and execute at that unit.
