Delta Hawk

US Military Mod (80s 90s)

Recommended Posts

Ok guys, I've been super busy lately, but I'm still working on my mod.  I had to redo my BDU caps so these are now the new ones.  Keep in mind I'm not using any special renderer or lighting effects.

It's not fading.  In fact, it's growing stronger.  I don't post a lot with updates because I'm spending that valuable time working on my mod.

HLCs is great, however they are missing M16A2s (hint hint Toadie).  RH is great, however they're missing some other valuable weapons.  In the end, neither pack covers the weapons I need the most.  In fact, afaik, only CUP has Javelins much less most of the weapons I need (despite them lacking quality).

That being said, I need someone to make a simple script for small accessories.

Some what.  I have a basic Marine, Soldier, Sailor and Airman where you can give them custom equipment like a safety vest, ear muffs, safety helmet .etc.  You can make a flight line marshal, ground crews, embark specialist, engineer, security guard .etc.  I also have a flight helmet so you can have a basic helicopter pilot.  I still have to make a flight suit and flight vest but I'm welcome to any donations for stuff like this.

They're actually using my HMMWVs from ArmA 2.  https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/28808032/pictures/U.S.%20Military%20Mod%20Preview%2042.jpg  Like RHS I strive to produce high quality addons, except I favor the 90s over modern day stuff.  It just so happens that a lot of stuff is the same for both the 90s and modern day, so it is very possible to see a little of both mods mixed together.

That is a very good point sir.

This is true.

Sounds and looks very good so far. Keep it up!

I think some Scrimmed Out or "Cabbage Patch" helmets would fit the time frame for this mod. This was my favorite mod for ARMA II. Looks Awesome. Keep up the great work.

Stay with CUP weapons Delta Hawk. They will serve the purpose well. If you got to HLC or RH then there more modern rifles and does not give enough variety to it. I support your decision to stay with CUP.

I don't really like CUP because they lack quality. Delta Hawk I could try with a friend make an M16 that would fit the units if you would like.

I'd be completely against that. We already have at least -four- mods that provide at least a dozen (some more) M4 and M16 variants -each-. I have like 30 M4s and M16s in my list already, and the quality of the CUP models could be improvied by better textures alone to a point. RHS also has M16A2 and A3 models, so it'd be potentially a go too. CUP probably has better reloading animations because as far as I know they are also carrying over those that toadie made. Those are also used for RHS.

The weapons are there, and even if they do look a bit dated, they would not look out of place with the stuff DeltaHawk is making. And if, if somebody cared enough they could revamp the textures and hand them into CUP.

I don't know if we are talking about the same CUP mod here  . In the weapon CUP mod the animations are a bit bad, not even close to todies nor  RHS. The textures are okay and need improvements. I really don't think I'd make something amazing but it would look okay with good animations and good sounds. That way this mod would stay requirements free which i think its better. I really hate when i go on armaholic for example and i find a cool mod but then it has a huge list of requirements

I dont see a problem with requirements. in fact I love it.

why have 50 different M4 mods when there could be 5 high quality ones? Im saying 5 because Im hoping the authors of these 5 mods would be competitive enough to make each others mods beat the others. quality > quantity, to an extent.

CUP is a wip. Dont consider what you see to be the end of the developement roadmap. Im sure somewhere down the line they've planned new textures, new sounds and maybe even model revamps. Look ahead people. and of course you get the convenience of having a mod with lots of weapons in it from different classes and types.

I know this is your mod and you can do whatever you want with it but here are some ideas for this mod after the initial port if you do continue to work on it.

MOPP Gear

ECWCS Gear (Cold Weather)

Early 2000s Units

Scrimmed Out Helmets

M-65 Field Jacket

Rucksack Covers

IIFS Rucksacks and Grenade Vest (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Individual_Integrated_Fighting_System)

Medium ALICE Pack

Here is a website that may be of some use to you:

This mod looks great and I hope it does not fade. Keep up the great work.

Thanks

DeltaHawk,

Are you willing to accept a dialog that comes up with a basic vest, and as you choose different pouches or what-have-you, it adds or takes them away on a 3d model? Or are you just wanting an action menu/scroll wheel interaction where you can choose different setups for gear and such?

This is actually kind of a issue with my mod.  Generally regular infantry have the same gear but units like Navy SEALs, Rangers, Green Berets, Delta Force and Marine Recon have different equipment, such as different radios (MX300Rs, Sabers, PRC 126s), different radio comms (Lash II, Moto hand mikes, Low Profile Headsets), knives (SEAL 2000, USN MK3 Mod0, M7 and M9 bayonets) and different pouches and holsters.  That's a lot of different combinations!

What I wanted to do was have the model change with different inventory items, such as if a player picks up a Saber radio with a Lash II comm set, the model reflects that by adding the saber radio model to his vest with the appropriate headset.  If a player picks up a gas mask carrier, the model reflects that by adding a gasmask carrier to the leg.  If a player has a M9 bayonet, an M9 bayonet is shown on the vest.  Is this possible to do?  Yes, but I don't know how to script it and not many people seem interested in scripting it for me :(

ECWCS cold weather gear?  What's that? lol  Some of that stuff will be in the initial port/release but most of it is planned for later releases if I continue.

As far as the weapon pack dependency I have made a decision on what I'm going to do.  More details will follow.

And now just to show you some stuff I've been working on.  These are the camouflage patterns I'm planning on doing after the initial release if I continue the mod:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/28808032/pictures/preview_usm_cammo.jpg

Woodland, DBDUs, DCUs, black, blue, grey, OD green, tiger stripe, urban tiger stripe, urban, Portugal Lizard and ERDL.

These are the camouflage patterns that will be included in the initial release later this year (ignore the odd uniform textures):

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/28808032/pictures/preview_usm_cammo2.jpg

Woodland, 6 desert, DCUs, black, OD green and urban.

Please do not request camouflage patterns. Sorry, no re-textures.

Hey DeltaHawk, I could try scripting it for you if you wanted. I also have a friend who is studying IT now he could help me too. If you want me to script it for you then PM me please.

Grunt sarcasm

You need a First Sergeant to police the thread. Maybe have people take their hands out of their pockets while they're at it.

Or have them quit talking on their cellphones while they walk.

If anything, it'd be them talking on their car phones or something. '80s and all.
