In theory, would it pretty much be an up-armored T-72B3? Or does the 90A not have the Catherine FC stuff? How does the Catherine compare to the ESSA? Or is the Catherine part of the ESSA itself, so it'd have the same as the B3?

And congratulations to the RHS team! A well-deserved win :)

T-90A have better protected turret, hull? Well not so much really, there is no space for real improvements for glacis special armor.

Catherine-FC is thermal camera, while ESSA is a sight, so ESSA uses Catherine-FC thermal camera which become a common standard for newer russian AFV's.

T90A has a newer welded turret. No one knows if it adds to the protection of the tank or not, but its essentially the turret from an experimental Soviet-collapse era tank. (The Object 187 experimental tank was designed by a guy named Vladimir. Thats why the T90A is usually called the T90A 'Vladimir')

The original T90 was a T72 on crack + heroin, the T90A is its own tank.

The T90A has been produced for the Russian Army since 1999 and performed well in Dagestan.

No one really knows if the hull design was changed at all due to the new turret.

The only person who would know if hull design was changed due to a new turret, would be a member of the Russian Armed Forces. I dont know of anyone that fits that description.

To sum up the T90A in my own words, its basically the hybrid of a T80, T72, and Object 187.

It adds, rolled plates offers 5 to 15 % better protection than castings. And no, T-90A turret is separate design, but conceptually based on Object 187 turret.

Not even a single T-90A was used in battle up to this day.

T-90S is export tank, also neither used in real combat.

Also basic T-90 was never used in combat. Story comes from confusing T-72B obr.1989 with basic T-90.

Are you sure? This is where the T90S, export version of the T90A (originally supposed to be going to India, but a batch of T90S tanks were sent to Dagestan instead)

http://mdb.cast.ru/mdb/3-2002/ac/raowdsmcc/ (This is Moscow Defense Brief, a Russian based military think tank)

The source claiming T90S tanks were used, and sustained no damage during combat operations apparently comes from an interview with the participants of the combat operations. (Probably Russian soldiers)

Are you suggesting they just got it mixed up with the 1989 version of the T72B? Seems possible, but possible doesn't mean the truth. Ill look into it more.

I trust what you say, you seem to know alot about the tank. I would just prefer to see a source. Perhaps you can PM a source, so this conversation doesnt derail the thread?

In RHS they're still using Multicam OCP.

Also somebody brought up that Dragoon Ride Cav troops are in the new OCP Scorpion - upon closer inspection I can tell they're not, it's still Multicam OCP :)

So RHS OCP is still correct even for this day.

Even when scorpion becomes standard issue the troops that are out of basic/initial training units will have one-two years to get fully transitioned to the new uniform. Just like when UCP was released the only units that had only UCP for till 2007 or so were those that we deploying or their unit leadership forced a early date for compliance. Since we have to actually buy new uniforms every year ourselves (with a clothing allotment) it takes some time before everyone is in the new uniforms. Deploying units are issued these when drawing their Deployment specific gear.

Not even single T-90 series tank was ever used in combat I repeat, in Causasus reagion Russian Army units used only T-72A/AV, T-72B and T-80BV tanks. There is not even a single photos showing T-90 tank there.

T-90S was used in real combat in 2009 by the arabian saudi forces during their conflicts with what so called huth militia

No, because Saudi Arabian Armed Forces do not have even a single T-90S tank in their inventory? They evaluated one, they didn't liked it, and thus never purchased these tanks. Saudi Arabian military primary MBT is M1A2S (it's preaty much export variant of M1A2SEPv1, where US 3rd generation heavy armor package was replaced with armor package designed in Saudi Arabia, and also communication equipment was replaced with saudi arabian one), all 300+ Saudi Arabian M1A1/M1A2 tanks will be completely upgraded to M1A2S standard by 2016, with more orders possible in future. Other MBT's in KSA arsenal are M60A3 tanks and AMX-30B.

It is highly possible that single T-90 was used in combat in first Chechen War as part of its trials with mixed military/factory crew, but there are no direct evidences of this in open sources apart from some documents in UVZ museum, which can only be taken in account as indirect evidence.

RHS team,

Have you considered in future development to replace some of the russian voice protocol? Its(if im not mistaken) straight from arma 2 correct?

I play as the russians, but find myself leaning towards greek voices for the units because of the robot-like reverb in the voices. If these are indeed new voices forgive the opinion, but they dont sound as fluid as anything else in game, and deserve better perhaps.
