M1117 Guardian ASV [WIP]

Recommended Posts

Greetings

Here's an early WIP of a project I'm working on over at 'Cleggy's Vehicle Chop-Shop'.

The M1117 armoured security vehicle - 'Guardian of the Armaverse'.

m1117_render.png

I knew little about this vehicle until my turret was gently traversed in it's general direction.

As I don't know of anyone else working on one for A3, I thought it would be a nice thing
to mess with and try and improve my modelling skillz.

With a .50 calibre and a 40mm grenade launcher in a one-man turret - what's not to like?

Anyway, it seems to be used by a sh*tload of different factions from the good ol' US of A
to the Beardy Belligerents of the Caliphate (the latter thanks to the Iraqi Army valet parking
them in a combat zone with the keys in the ignition and getting the hell out of Dodge).

There is a ton of reference material available but I could still make a 'cluster' of it
so feel free to comment if I start to wander off.

Health and Efficiency

Cleggy

Thanks for the replies:)

Will it have this on the front of it? I think it's for IEDs

I was hoping to avoid the dreaded Rhino Bar - ruins the whole aesthetic!

With any luck I'll reach the vertex limit on the model before I have to consider adding it.:p

Ohh.. yes please if possible release an alpha for this. I really like light armor and light vehicles in general, so something like I want.

Ha! With my texturing skills I wish black was the only colo(u)r it came in!

anyway it's in black already - 50% black ...

wish you success !

Thank you

The problem with an alpha is people still think it's the finished article :butbut:

Same vehicle I think, or maybe a version of it.

Thank you, one does what one can:)

Here's a screenshot of my 'test rig' in game. I'm using it to test functionality and see how things work out:

We can talk about that...:)

This vehicle should have been in arma III from the beginning, its design fits so well

Kind of amusing since the design dates from 1963 :p

You beat me to it, Rock.

Nothing wrong with 1963 - I remember it well!

I remember Vilas made one for arma 2

Yes, Vilas' nice little model was my inspiration to start this project.

I initially ported it into A3 and although a bit undersized according to my calculations

I could see the potential for a nice addon, so I thought I'd attempt it myself.

I'm still using his steering wheel at the moment!
