The last update caused my Arma 3 Steam Workshop to go in a never-ending workshop-content update loop. It will keep "updating" also while I'm in the game.

This happens even when I'm not using any mods. My FPS gets very choppy while it's trying to update.

This appears to be a bug in the Steam Client. They have been trying to fix it, but it seems not all cases have been handled yet: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/SteamClientBeta#announcements (see July 22 e.g.). So far you can only work around it by restricting Steam downloads to the times you're not playing.

Tested new patch. Big performance gain in helo´s Altis bench. Not tested in mp.

Just received a new RC patch today via steam. 20MB. Where can I find a changelog for the 1.48RC Hotfix patches?

Having spent around 20 hours in the game after the patch, the RC does fix the FPS issues. The main branch has unplayable FPS, but RC version runs with normal FPS.

Well, the Devs definitely try to help, given how fast the RC patch came out.  But unfortunately it didn't help me much.  To clarify I'll report my 1.48 experience shortly:

1) I had the lag spikes and drastically reduced base FPS others reported as soon as 1.48 was installed via Steam.

2) I experienced the worst of it on Altis, with Stratis being less laggy and the only custom map I tried, Kunduz, not lagging as much as Altis.  But it's more like Stratis in size, and so maybe irrelevant.

3)When using mods, the game was unplayable in the sense that FPS deteriorated further and further the longer the mission was - for example NATO Showcase (and any other mission on Altis) started at around 30 FPS with 1.48 and went down to a slideshow after a few minutes in-mission.  I played the usermade Campaign Resist! which starts on Stratis and goes to Altis in the second mission.  First mission on Stratis went ok with 30-40 frames in a heavily modded game, but 2nd mission on Altis - unplayable just a few minutes in-mission the frames dropped from 30ish to 5-9.

4) With an unmodded game, the lag spikes were less intensive, but my base FPS were simply halved - from 40-60 (using Vsync with a 60hz TFT) down to 20-30.

5) With the 1.48 RC it took longer until the unplayable frame region was reached, but it happened nontheless.

6) After going back to 1.46 legacy all problems were gone.

So, for a game that like all it's predecessors draws it's long-time attraction for me to a big part from the vast amounts of quality content that the active modding scene creates, this is a really bad thing.

I have always balanced out against each other the pros and cons of the BIS games to come to the high esteem in which I held them.  From OFP:Resistance on, the games ARMA, ARMA 2 and later Operation Arrowhead offered me a unique experience that other games couldn't.  The Devs always were supportive and determined to fix bugs.  An active modding scene continually improved upon the base game. These pro points are still viable.

On the contra side I put optimizations or content additions like in patch 1.48 that offer rather limited improvements (holstered pistols visible and Physx optimization are NOT as relevant as, say, AI improvements or the addition of weapon resting IMHO) and bring such massive performance drops as trade-off.

But I'm still confident that after some rather avoidable hassle things will improve over time regarding the performance.  Should I add my .rpt's and the like to an existing ticket made prior to the hotfix or create a new one for those users like me who still have problems?

With the transition to Windows 10 all the problems remained. Very often, large desynchronization client - server. Very often, a red symbol in the corner of the chain. And it is not clear what is to come, the FPS drop or fall timing. Starting at the start of a good FPS 60-70 through 30-60 minutes 20-30 FPS, sometimes the low 10-15 FPS. Fall FPS and red symbol in the corner of the circuit - inseparable friends.

Desynchronization varies from 0 to 100000. It often all players at different times, or perhaps at the same time as when de-synchronization, there is no chance that the value of the information desynchronization others - indeed.

All accompanied by the movement of the AI ​​and the players forward - backward, sudden appearance or disappearance of AI and players.
I do not understand one thing. Desynchronization in earlier versions Arma3 was sometimes, but it was not at the same time with the fall of the FPS, the FPS itself was bolshii stable in any size.

Is it still ongoing? 'Cause until now I thought it was me. Since the update everytime I look at NPCs my fps drops significantly (modded and vanilla).
