AI drivers keep bumping into the same tree over and over, bad terrain navigation?

When testing the AI's driving capabilities through terrains that have alot of trees, it seems not good. The ai driver (in a hunter or atv) has to reverse and drive right into the same tree 5 times before he eventually goes around.

Also they drive really slow and often just say "cant get there" when I try to tell them to go somewhere in a forest in Altis. What is the big deal about setting up proper navigation for the environment and having obstacle avoidance for trees & rocks? Any way to fix this maybe a mod or something?

Sorry to inform you, but AI is lacking in many areas. VCOM AI Driving Mod improves driving a bit, but the latest version needs serious debugging. Can't find the prior version anywhere either. If you know how to use the PW6 client you might be able to fetch an earlier build.

Wait until the next update, in the RC it's even worse than in the current :D

If you are the commander (for tanks and APCs) or gunner (MRAPs), you can use manual command (WASD keys) for the driver. This'll be slightly better for crowded areas, but it'll still occasionally get stuck :(
