Permanent Ban! but you got it partially correctly. OFP's strength is able to simulate many infant sim actions, including able to ride vehicles. but larger area size and others distinguish OFP from GR anyhow. Tex -USMC- 0 Posted September 24, 2002 The huge environments are great, but somehow I dont think anyone would enjoy it is as much if you had to walk everywhere. The seamless integration of infantry to land vehicle to boat to aircraft back to infantry is what makes OFP truly special. Everything else is just icing on the cake. Oh yea, and newer computers are up to 2.8ghz now, do you think they can support truely amazing graphics and othing things now?
edc 0 Posted September 24, 2002 Seeing that permanent ban there almost gave me a heart attack. Yeah, OFP would still be a lot better because you're not in a boxlike enviorment as you are in a lot of the Ubisoft games as you said up there. Â Also the mission editor is a helluva lot easier and better. Some people may say the OFP one is diffucult but you don't know diffucult until you try one of those. 2.8gHZ Whoa-what I'd do to get one of those. Â If OFP was just a beta test then its the game its testing for must be amazing.

Helicopters are ok and a good addition to this but the airplanes are implemented really badly. I wouldn't mind if they were left out entirely, or perhaps as AI controlled only for things like bombing runs and parachute drops only. I dunno, I just have absolutely no desire whatsoever to fly an airplane in the OFP engine as it currently is. :^)<span id='postcolor'> I agree 100%. Jet's and airplanes should probably be left to the AI. However, I thoroughly enjoy the helo combat. It just needs improvement. More realistic physics. More realistic avionics. More realistic damage modeling. More realistic weapons modeling (increased range on the hellfires, etc.) Granted, we don't need the Falcon4 of helicopters for OFP. We just need a bit more realism in those areas.
Tex -USMC- 0 Posted September 25, 2002 I'd like the choppers to be more Longbow 2-ish, but you have to admit, they did a good job creating a flight model that, although it wasnt realistic, it sort of feels real, and believable. Unless of course you know how to take advantage of it, and then you see some really odd stuff
second_draw 0 Posted October 2, 2002 I don't care if they do this one thing and just relabel ofp to ofp2. It is the graphics, models and other related eye candy. In comparence with a comparable product (battlefields 1942), we could have had alot more work done in area. It is one of the few complaints of ofp i heard or i can understand
Uziyahu 0 Posted October 7, 2002 Did you get Resistance, yet, second draw? Look at the fricking buildings! They beat anything made on the small-mapped Rogue Spear or Ghost Recon. I don't know about you guys, but I was IMMERSED the first time I played the demo. You don't spend time looking at leaves and twigs when you're out in the field in the Army. Complaints about graphics (mostly about the trees) were made, I suspect, by insincere people (like Li C. Kuo of PCGamer, RedStorm's ho' who were looking for ANYTHING to complain about. B1942 had the leisure to learn from OFP's complexities. OFP did it first. It worked. I had fun. And I still do, whenever I remember to take the time to actually play, but there is so much to follow in this community that you could spend all of your time just supporting the game instead of playing it. THAT never happened in Rogue Spear or Ghost Recon, where there are so many limits to a modder's ability.
GFX707 0 Posted October 8, 2002 BF1942 is essentially an upgraded version of a game called 'Codename Eagle' which was released in 1999. It is not an OFP copy, despite the similarities
Placebo 12 Posted October 8, 2002 GFX707 I guess you haven't been around much of late, the whold bf1942 + CE thing has been done to death, as has comparing it to Opf, please don't drag it up again
toadeater 0 Posted October 8, 2002 You wanna see graphics? Look at this, which is coming out very soon: Ofcourse, that's still not to the scale of OFP and is more like Ghost Recon, etc., but I think OFP2 could look this good by the time it comes out? Placebo 12 Posted October 8, 2002 Discussions about other war games belong in OT, not in this thread please
Blomstermann 0 Posted October 8, 2002 Yea, could be cool if it looked like that... although... where u want the tanks to drive ? There should be open space as well.
PRiME 1 Posted October 8, 2002 If you take a look at the trailer for that game you will notice how vehicles appear to be heavily scripted  And the graphics arn't that spectatular and OFP can easily simulate the same thing althought the river may require some hacking to do. Blomstermann 0 Posted October 9, 2002 Well... we were discussing OFP2 - how we want the game to be/look like. Werent that the whole point of the thread? Or arent we allowed to show pics or...? Some1 reply please.

Epita 0 Posted October 9, 2002 Lol if OPF 2 looked like that it would be cool. but i read in PCZone in the UK that it was going to be based more in the air, so it may have much better air physics. if ppl wanted to fly a plane, and they bought flash then you bought the wrong game. but still the work on the planes was really good, the missions with the pilot was really good way to bring the campaigne to the other maps. It would be good way to do it again.
