Real Light V5 - ReShade Preset

Recommended Posts

Real Light V5

The new preset of my Real Light series is finished and now available.

My goal is to achieve a more realistic light at any ingame time without interfering with the overall game performance in Arma 3.

I edited the overall exposure to achieve a more natural sunlight.

Custom gamma and contrast settings are used for more realistic half shades.

I did many color fine tunings to round the entire look up and get it even more believable than Arma already provides.

The reason why I made this preset was that I liked the look of Arma already very much. But the Sunlight and the visual components related to that weren´t realistic enough for me.

Arma has a big amount of grey tint overall which prevents it far to often from looking realistic.

On cloudy weather situations its way too dark for example. Direct Sunlight doesn´t "feel" right.

So I developed "Real Light" to eliminate those flaws.

FAQ

What is ReShade?

Reshade is a tool similar to SweetFX.

It can change the ingame look in many different ways depending on the preset you use.

What about Battleye?

It doesn´t care if you use ReShade (nor SweetFX).

What about my performance when using ReShade?

The impact depends on the effects the preset uses.

Creating a look by tweaking colors, contrast and gamma has nearly no impact.

"Nearly no" means 1-2 FPS.

Is ReShade hard to install?

No. The ReShade-Crew created a simple installer for ReShade.

Wow, what a freakin difference looking at your screenshots, in more forest, and bushy areas the color actually comes out more.

Never liked that tint, or haze covering the game. Going to give this a whirl and see how it looks, thanks for posting!

Heres links to presets I found all with comparison screenshots, for the comparison aspect click on any screenshot

and drag the slider on the pic back or forth to see the change.

For the Real Light heres the other versions from Solano if anyone is interested.

Thanks Günther,

for linking the others too.

I have to say for me (the creator of all these) V5 is the preset I wanted to make from the beginning.

The earlier Versions are fine in a way but do not have the look I really intended. And unfortunately they have flaws in brightness. I think you can see a progress from version to version too.

V5 is the Preset closest to the Look I intended from the beginning and it works best. I recommend V5 because I solved most of the brightness problems there which I had with earlier versions.

But people seem to like them anyway so I kept them.

Sorry to hear.

Maybe the creators of ReShade can help you here: http://reshade.me/forum/troubleshooting

You can try to download this file http://www.videopilot.link/rl/v5/Real_Light_V5_package.zip and extract it in your arma folder where the arma3.exe is. Overwrite all files. It´s my personal Setup of ReShade and seemed to fix many errors for users.

Does this effect fps? Some similar SFX and visual enhancers hurt armas already quite low fps in sort of busy scenarios

No effect found, apparently. Renamed your presets to ReShade.fx and deleted the other one because it did not overwrite the original.

Its ok, I found it rather to bright but prob because i need to turn down my brightness/gamma, but it works for me np, I did notice a slight fps loss and that was just on stratis with a soldier.

I got an GTX 580 and I have about mostly 1 sometimes 2 FPS less - but never more.

I recommend to set brigthness to 0.6, Gamma to 1.0 and bloom to 70-90. Maybe you are just too used to the Arma grey haze and tint. I get a lot of "it is too saturated for me..." too - because of the habituation with the vanilla Arma Look I guess :)

Of course you can set it to whatever you like. These are just the settings I build the preset on.

Like I wrote in the FAQ it has no noticable effect on performance. I got an old GTX 580 and I get mostly 1 Frame less sometimes 2 but never more.

You can apply post processing effects in A3 directly, so using a post process "injector" is kind of a waste there...

You can find the preferred setting with missions like this or

, and then you use an addon or use it directly in a mission as a script.

I will give it a try later - the video showed nothing seriously enhancing but I will give it a shot. Thanks for the hint.

You can play everything with it. It´s not an Arma Mod. No Server will reject you for that. It manipulates the image you receive. Even Steam Screenshots won´t print out images with the ReShade look.

Thats why ReShade itself has defined a Screenshot Button (PrintScreen).

One question Solano. Where can I change the key to turn off the preset. The map is very bright so I would like to turn it off when on it but my keyboard is lacking scroll lock.
