linuxmaster9 101 Posted May 5, 2015 (edited) According to SITREP #00104, there is a possibility of a Linux and MacOS port. Naturally it is a non-native aka Wine wrapper version. This is a ray of hope for Linux Gaming. On the note of the Linux client, would it not be better to create a Github repository for the Linux Game client? That way the Linux dev community can assist with making the client the best it can be as well as patching and bug fixing it. Also, would it not be better to add in the Vulkan API? Especially since they are switching to the Open-Source version of PhysX. By choosing Vulkan aka OpenGL NextGen, Bohemia interactive would not have to worry about whether or not changes they make to the code base would negatively affect the Linux and MacOS clients since the Vulkan API is Multi-platform. So putting it all together, here are a few suggestions for the Linux/MacOS clients: Make the client Open-source with a Github repo for improvements Choose Vulkan API over DirectX 12 for better platform support and not locking users into Windows 10. Open up the development of the clients to the Linux and MacOS development communities such as Valve. Make a version of the BI Tools that will work under Linux or put together a list of Linux/OpenSource tools that will do the same thing. Examples of good OpenSource tools would be: Blender, QGIS, GRASS, GIMP and Inkscape. Blender: 3D modeling and Animation QGIS & GASS: Quantum GIS - Mapping software GIMP: Image editing Inkscape: Vector Graphics software Edited May 5, 2015 by LinuxMaster9
