Mastrovara 10 Posted April 21, 2015 Hi everyone! I wish you could help me with a pretty serious problem I have while trying to play Arma 3. I have been experiencing a problem with my mouse when I start the game: The cursor freezes in the moment the Arma 3 Vanilla Launcher shows up. The mouse is a Logitech M510 (wireless). My Arma 3 game is bought from Steam and I recently re-downloaded it. I have played it time ago on this same system; then I removed it for storage and now I am trying to play it again. Back then (months ago) it was perfect, even though my PC is not best suited for it, it runs smoothly on SP with low graphics. Anyway I point out the problem more deeply: I am on my desktop with no strange processes going on. I select Steam and go on my library and press "play". The Steam process to launch Arma 3 starts. Mouse is still going well. The Steam window of starting the game disappears, as normal. Arma 3 Launcher process appears on task manager. Mouse freezes on desktop. I can't move it in any way or click on folders and pressing the right mouse button does nothing. I still can start the game with keyboard but can't move my mouse at all in any menu. When I get into the editor and place some units (with incredible effort on keyboard keys, numpad and such), my mouse wheel strangely works and if I use the numpad to place the cursor on some unit and keep pressed the left mouse button I can drag a unit around (moving the cursor with my numpad, of course). Ingame I can strangely still move my gun around, aim, fire, use the action menu, though I can't navigate the menus and gear. EFFORTS TO GET IT WORKING (FAILED): Switched the mouse ON/OFF switch many times. Changed batteries. Unistalled mouse drivers. Installed W7 mouse drivers. Installed Logitech Set Point drivers (latest version). I have Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, CCleaner, Glary Utilities, Wise Registry Cleaner installed in my PC. I ran all of them with their specific registry cleaner, optimization and "repairing" features. I changed the USB port for the wireless receiver. I plugged in a mouse with cord. WAY I FIXED IT WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO PLAY ARMA 3: # Good old reboot. # I had to go on the personalization of the desktop and change the resolution of the fonts and other elements of desktop, then the PC asked to disconnect the user to apply the changes. I did it and i got the mouse working again. Starting the game from these lower resolutions ends with the same solid freeze of the mouse. (I read this procedure on the NET) MY THOUGHTS: I don't think this problem is Arma 3 related actually. I have experienced it only another time in my usage of PC: I was running Freemake Video Downloader and it had the same exact problem. When i started it, my mouse stopped working and froze. I think it's driver related but I did nearly everything to act on the drivers. My last chance is, I guess, to unistall all the USB ports and then re-install them, but I am a little afraid to do that. This problem is really annoying, as you can imagine. I looked around the net for a fix but I haven't found it yet. I looked for the same problem in your forums and I hope I haven't reposted the same issue. If that's the case, I am sorry for that. Thank you very much for your attention anyway ;) Mastro
Jackal326 716 Posted April 22, 2015 Try creating a shortcut directly to ArmA3.exe (usually something like 'C:\Games\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Arma 3\arma3.exe') to bypass the launcher. That will at least determine whether it is the launcher or the game at fault.
ozzbik 37 Posted April 22, 2015 (edited) I personally would stay clear of any cleaner software unless you review every change made by it. It could make things worse. Could you try the following to check if the windows files are ok (especially directx): Click StartType: CMD, from the results, right click CMD Click 'Run as Administrator' At the Command Prompt, type: sfc /scannow Edited April 28, 2015 by ozzbik
Mastrovara 10 Posted April 27, 2015 I tried to open the game from the Arma3.exe but the same problem happens. Thanks anyway :) I will try to do the action ozzbik suggested, hope it works ;)
