Cossac cape map, Crimea

Last version - 1.1, february 2016, version notes.

The 5x5 km map represents a fiction terrain, "located" in the city of Sevastopol, Crimea.

I. A story.

The real prototype of this map is the cape Chersones that was the last stand of the heroic defence of Sevastopol in 1942. Landscape of the real terrain is fairly flat, so i decided to make a fiction one with semantic references to the real cape and in the same time - little more gameplay-friendly.

II. Features.

The satmap are 99.9% hanmade or procedural generated. No google-boogle maps used, only the graphic tablet and some magic with height- and errosion maps, generated in WorldMachine.

There are also some custom assets on the island - military bliiboards, stela and old abandoned ww2-era caponier. Added in v.1.1 - storage hangar "AS-Salute", referencing map cs_assautl; surveying signal towers.

III. Balance.

This map balanced for asymmetrical battles for the commanding heights, so feel free to make missions with combined-arms action.

V. License.

There is no restrictions to use this content under any non-commercial purpose (including any game-servers) as long as the original content not modified nor separated.

VI. Notes.

- If you has used any earlyer version of this mod (for example "Cossac cape WIP" from the one of initial builds of the VTN mod) - make sure that you deleted this to prevent versions conflict;

- pay attention that you can't launch Steam version of the mod directly from the Arma3 shortcut. Use Arma3Launcher instead, or download non-steam version of Cossac cape.

Not sure i'm well understand what Alive is, but if this is some MP-server - feell absolutelly free to use the island as long as you not modify it and this is non-commercial.

To make the map work with Alive it needs to be indexed which I think is something they do, rather than it being something you need to do.*

Alive is a awesome modification with which we can create some really nice missions,

But islands need to be indexed first and with yours I have the feeling that we can create good ones with Alive.

Nothing you can do as it's a dev side project but I will submit an indexing request, it'll be behind a few other maps that will probably be done first but hopefully it doesn't take too long.

Should work really well with your map since it's balanced for Asymmetric Warfare and ALiVE just release an Asymmetric Warfare mode/system :)

I see it's already been added to the ALiVE tracker (thanks Spyder) - indexing relies on map object IDs not changing with updates.. if you think your map is pretty close to being completed (ie: no major changes) we'll index it. If the map is still a WIP it's best to wait until it's closer to completion (indexing has to be re-done if map IDs change).

Looks like a great map!

I plan to make an update not earlier than in the middle of June. Now trying to build a kind of hangar from the cs_assault map to place it at the "AS-Salute" instead of vanilla ones :)

As you can see, the job is at the very beginning, and the next update will be only when it done. In addition, on Thursday I am flying to the real Crimea (:yay:), so work on arma3 addons will halt for a while. If the community wants this map indexed - it would be great to do so :) I am also looking forward to this, really want to try!

- The bunkers are hard to handle >> clipping problems.

Already noted this problem. I forgot to delete this texture from the geo lod of a billboard, so this error is absolutely harmless and not impacts anything. Now fixed! If this error does not produce critically inconvenience - I will add fix to the next big patch, don't want to make dozens of hotfixes.

I flew around it this morning, looks pretty good. I like those little bunkers, you modeled those right?

Sorry, my english is not the best...

If i try to enter the bunker with a standard A3 soldier, the hole to the right side was hard to get through. It looks like that the hole is not high enough to get through. I needed several attempts to enter it.

And if i stand in the center of the bunker i`m not able to shot over the wall. So i have the feeling these bunkers are not very useful...

Of course! This is a military bunker, man! :))) Of course it has narrow passages. Bend down your head and go-go-go on a double! :))

And if i stand in the center of the bunker i`m not able to shot over the wall.

This is an artyllery caponier for 152/130mm naval cannon, not the infantry blockhouse. Pull up a bit to use a small arms, this is possible, i tested.
