Operation Trebuchet - Total conversion mod for Arma 3

Unfortunately AFAIK you can have only one uniform for a soldier type defined in config (ie. "B_support_MG_F" and so on). Some scripting witchery may be used though. However you can have multiple soldiers defined and then having them mixed up in actual groups.

Well it could be something like Medic: Camo 1 Grenadier: Camo 2 Squad Leader: Camo 3 Rifleman: Camo 4 and repeat. I'm pretty sure that's possible. As for randomly generated uniforms, don't know how well that would work.

Well the PG service PMC have randomised uniforms so when you place, say 3 riflemen, they will all have different clothing. Maybe they could do this here?

Yes, it seems that PG service PMC does employ some randomisation script. Ill see if I can figure it out.

I'm not the one who made the texture, but if you're going to nit pick the paint scheme, then you better take a look at the rest of the vehicles.

I'm not. Halo 4 paint scheme is good. Just noticed you guys are doing the halo 4 green. Not the Reach one

I doubt he even had Halo 4 in mind, nor does it even look like Halo 4. Its more like we're doing our own thing when it comes to visual appearance, with most reference going into things like the model and detail on the texture, not so much the color. Regardless, I posted the updated pictures to get feedback on the reflectance values and not the color of paint.

I think that bump mapping needs to be a little more aggressive so the Falcon dosent look like a plastic toy. Still it was a step in right direction.

From my experience with gloss maps; actually anything above complete black gives you gloss. Metal dosent require really bright gloss map, a dark gray is often enough.

Hmm that's odd because the Ghost Hawk's gloss values are around 200. I don't think you know what gloss does.

It is a bit too monotone dont you think? It needs more markings like scratches and marks. Its a little bit too green

Your right. I wasn't trying to offend. Your your right. it wasn't halo 4. It was halo 2 anniversary multiplayer warthog. They use the halo 4 warthog model in it, why i was thinking halo 4. But h2a mp color scheme is way darker

The texture has plenty of scratches and dings in it, though currently the RVmat needs some work to show that. Not a problem, ArmA 3 has a wierd way of treating specular maps.

Ah. Makes sense. I figured it did. But all a see is a super smooth surface. Like prototype smooth. The 1st falcon ever made smooth before it got mass produced lol

(I say this for if you look at any vehicle prototype, it's super nice looking, then it gets mass produced and it gets edgier)

Falcon is WIP I know, but are you people going to add rotaring engines? you know, they move when you turn around or raise thrust n stuff.

So I finally figured it out. The color schemes to the fatigues for the troopers in halo Reach. It's literally a class base system for who gets what. And 4 each For woodland and desert. (Haven't done urban yet. But i know what to look for)

Camo 1. For the basic rifleman (will sometimes come equipped with a assualt bag)

Camo 2. For the Heavy Armored Rifleman. ( they always have the knife on the chest piece and the large rucksack.they are also only ones who put the sniper rounds on the shoulder pad. Not all the time though )

Camo 3. For the Specialist. The guys with the radio packs. ( they are also the only guys with the rangefinders on the helmet too, though not all come with them)

Camo 4. Medics. (White Medic helmet with Medic decals all over. Always has an assualt bag)

I hope this helps those guys who wanted to make camo based off halo reach

Great work! Always thought the Camo was random but now we know. Any chance you could grab some screenshots of the Marines on the last level (Pillar of Autumn)? They seem to all be wearing brown armor over grey/black fatigues if I recall correctly. Thanks :)

That looks a lot better IMO, once those details are thrown in it should look perfect. As for the color, you guys are doing your own thing and it doesn't really have to match the games at all. Plus, you're doing different camo variants right? At least one of those is going to fit someone's taste if they don't like this one.

I'm sure that something like the rotating engines on the Pelican can be applied to the Falcon once they're finished with it.

As for the Army units, seems that the majority of the changes happen in the color of the armor plating in the camo sets. So perhaps you can have UNSC Army (Desert), UNSC Army (Urban), and UNSC Army (Woodland) units and the individual units in those categories would have varying colored plates for their armor? And then whatever subcategories of camouflages (like woodland 1 and 2) could be sorta mixed and matched?

Once panel lines and such go into a normal map it'll start to break up the uniformity

of the specular.A little noise in the specular maps coupled with increased intensity around

raised/leading edges can help sell the impression of paint wear/metal exposure too. :)

Will do, tomorrow, Have to load the ODSTs then bed. The ODSTs chest piece is basically the EVA chest piece with a ODST plate thrown on top of it
