Rainey Gear Modification (RGM)

Hello everybody! Today, I introduce to you RGM -WIP-

The purpose of this mod is to bring in more modern gear to the already great game. I realized that the only plate carriers in the game were really bulky, they just aren't realistic for what most Military departments use these days (And yes, I realize the game is in the future). So, I thought to myself, why not go ahead and make some of these myself? That's exactly what I did, I already have several things planned out such as:

Crye Precision JPC

LBT 6094

Helmets

Many, many more

The first thing I started working on was the JPC. Here are some WIP pictures:

I just added the keycuffs to the vest, I still have a bit more smoothing to do with them, but I finally got the basic shape of them down. I have them placed onto the vest via molle, they are slid up into 4 molle webs holding them in:

More to be added soon, tell me what you think and what I should add. Also, this is a very early version, which is the reason for the sharp edges in some places.

Wow yours is absolutely incredible, WarLord. I agree it does need to be formed a bit more to the body, and it is definitely very low poly (3000's) so, I'm going to work on those and update this post as I go along :)

Rainey just one thing about plate carriers, it should be above the belly buton, and should not reach the belt area, should be in the sternum, and over 3 or 4 inches above the belly button i can't link you a few videos explaining that if you want

I know, it's going to be pretty easy scaling it down a little bit to the right size, I just want to get everything on it, smooth everything out, etc.

I'm using 3ds Max, I also just added the keycuffs to the carrier and also scaled the carrier down a bit, it's a bit above to belly button now.

I edited the keycuffs a bit so that they now are held in by the molle webbing, it has very sharp edges right now, because I did it in just a few minutes because it's late and I have to get to sleep, so tomorrow I will smooth it out, make it fit a bit better, etc.

Hi, not a bad start at all!

There has been quite a few promessing gear mod announced from which all in all very little content has come out, i hope that this won' t be the fate of this mod, individual gear is one of the areas where Arma3 is sorely lacking even with the mods that have came out as of yet.

So i wish you the best of luck and a lot of courage to carry on with this mod.

Hey, thanks for the kind words! Although I am in High School currently so I don't have a whole lot of time to work on them, any time I do get goes towards the vest. I don't expect this to die out any time soon, I have great people who are helping to encourage me through the struggles of making this, so I don't think I'll stop. I totally agree Arma 3 is definitely missing a lot of good gear that we need/want, which is the main reason I decided to start this pack, I'll try to update this thread atleast every day, but there might be 2 or more days in between updates.

If you have anything you would like to see, or any tips on what to add to the carrier, feel free to message me or post it on here.

I've went through and smoothed some things out, added a holster with a gun (Glock, the most common) in it. Before you say "But, some of us don't like holsters on our carriers" when this is released, there will be the following variations:

Rifleman w/ Holster

Rifleman w/out Holster

Grenadier

Medic

These will all have different things on them such as pouches, 203 shells, etc.

Little update, I took about 5-10 minutes to whip up a pair of Bolt Cutters to put on the carrier, because the back panel was looking a bit plain:

I'm starting to run out of ideas, so what would you guys like to see on the carrier in a later stage?

See, I was thinking about adding a CamelPak, but decided against it, because most of the time you're going to be wearing a backpack, so it would be useless and be a waste of poly's. So, I decided to add the bolt cutters because even with a backpack, you will still see them. I do, however agree with the pouches. Which ones would you recommend? I can't make all these decisions on my own, I need input, guys and gals!

Just add in some pouches with smoke Grenades and Frag grenades in them, you can also add in radio pouches and GPS Pouches.

Here's the official LBT Website with all their stuff. Since you brought up backpacks take a look at maybe making some of these backpacks their pretty nice.

I might make backpacks in a later version of the mod. Also, there is a radio pouch on the right cumberbund (Not shown in the picture), I will work on smoke grenades and possibly frags. Thanks for the advice.

Sry if im being really bad with you but your stuff kind of is sub-par and could use a lot of work, i know its maybe your first time, but your topology for what it seems indicates you are going to get all the detail using the textures, if you want help I will be in holidays and i can help you get your stuff better. PM me if you are interested.

No need to apologize, I understand it's not great, it's a huge WIP, and yes it is my first vest. It's nowhere near done, and can use a lot more detail which I will be doing in modeling and texturing, I'll appreciate any help from any body, so I'll for sure shoot you a message.

If you get the A3 Sample Character into your Scene you can already build arround the basic bodyshape that is represented. That keeps you from getting to blocky Layout and will also help with the later process of Rigging the Vest.

Im already using the sample character to model around. Work on the vest is a bit slow at the moment to do school work, but I promise an update will be coming soon.

Dont rush, take your time and only Model when you really want to. This is your hobby not some kind of work. I can say from experience that the results that come out really show if the person wanted to do it, or just wanted to be done with it.

If you go to fast, force work on yourself (like accepting requests... dont ever accept requests) you will lose the enjoyment and ultimatly stop.
