Where do the pistols get the new recoil from?

I know it's just a visual animation and not actual recoil. Does anyone know where in the configs the weapons get their new recoil animations and can that feature be inherited?

You mean the way the muzzle flips up?

My understanding is that it's an animation inside the model itself using a model.cfg (like you would use to make the slide move or the hammer strike), where you rotate the entire weapon as a "bone" in the skeleton around an axis in the memory LOD located somewhere in the region of the hand grip.

New recoil allows you to define muzzle kickback and side to side movement. If you inherit from a vanilla pistol you should pick it up
