Community Upgrade Project - CUP

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

First off - looks absolutely fantastic.

Two questions:

  • This replaces the old Project OPFOR - correct - I can delete the old one ?
  • Without going through the 215 pages - are their any images for the planned Latin American factions ?

Thanks...

Note: Just realized I may be in the wrong place - I thought this was the "Community Faction Project" - my apologies if so...

Regards,
Scott

Is there another link to the CUP classnames? I can't get the CUP Wiki or Docs page on the website to load. Thanks CUP! Outstanding work!

For sure, although from that screenshot maybe colors a bit too deep. Black (vests mainly) too dark and red (mostly checkered shirt) too intense.

Will there be pistol holster versions on the vests? The new models look awesome!!

Following on ruff's comment, I'd love to see one of the drop leg holsters from one of the newer Bundeswehr vests in devbranch. Correct me if I'm wrong, autigergrad, but the vests in you pic are based on the CIRAS vests from Hawaiian?

Guys, are you considering updating some of the old arma 2 buildings found currently in your CUP Terrains Core/Maps with their newer Contact DLC counterparts? It seems players are not required to own the DLC to use the new buildings so modders can use them freely on their mods/maps/missions etc. I know CUP has been looking forward to improve buildings with interiors and this perhaps is a good chance to do so without doing all the hard work from scratch.

PS: These are all the Contact DLC assets: 710062493040C301037FF8DBC6317D51DA5C0B03

LSValmont: I hope it's possible and that it'll be done, would be nice to have all those terrains using CUP Core get the new updated buildings without every terrain-maker having to go in and replace them himself.

Yeah I was thinking the same. As long as there is noticeable improvement in quality getting the updated buildings would be awesome. So many buildings are enterable now!

That may be a problem since Contact objects are scaled up from A2 originals. It's been discussed a lot in DLC threads.

Dev branch is only updated once a week, so they might not be in yet

Are the CUP developers aware of that Russian and Czech factions do not have their respective voices? Under Attributes and then Identity the voice section is blank. And the Takistanis all have the Farsi voice instead of the Takistani voice.  Actually I think it's like this for all non-English speaking factions.

Is this due to the latest Arma 3 update, something else, or just on my end?

Yes we are aware.  Yes it's due to the latest Arma 3 update.  We're working on fixing it back for next release.

Who knows. Maybe.

This is likely not going to be the solution employed. The models are not 1 to 1, many of the buildings have offsets of varying levels of severity.

This is inaccurate. The buildings are not scaled up. The doors on a lot of buildings were remodeled to be larger because of the way the camera works in Day Z SA. The building geometry is the same size however, but other LOD elements in the models are different to the A2 versions causing bounding box and center positions to not be the same, which makes direct replacement problematic.

Is there any possibility that you guys would be adding/porting assets from the takistani extension mod into CUP (with the authors permission of course)

http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=16236

There are some awesome assets in there, in particular the aircraft and some of the anti air vehicles.  just wondering if that was something that would potentially be in the cards for the future?

The relevant author or authors would have to get in contact with the team, first. There's nothing stopping another community member contacting them and saying they should consider donating to CUP, other than reasonable persistence restrictions to avoid harrassment, but there are a couple of challenges regarding the mod you linked.

1. IIRC Project RACS was very much a team effort that relied heavily on donations and permissions from other community members, not entirely unlike CUP. For the complete set as requested, all of the authors who directly contributed to the creation, implementation, and integration into PRACS of those assets would have to agree, and some of them are unlikely to be able to be contacted at all. Of those that can be contacted, any of them may choose to decline, which would leave the set "incomplete" with very little we can do about it.

2. All of the assets in that mod are made for Arma 2, and would have to be converted to Arma 3. Many of them have already found themselves or counterparts in Arma 3 already, but not all, and of those that have been converted, it is up to the individual authors to donate on their own accord (or be persuaded to do so). Even if they cant be implemented into CUP proper, the biggest one I can think of (HCPookie's various stuff) already plays well with CUP.

3. The CUP team would have to determine whether the donation is wanted at all. That is a very multifaceted question, regarding what it adds to the gameplay, what it may restrict or take away from other assets' gameplay, implementation into Arma 3, integration with other CUP assets, etc. That doesn't even get into the question of how it would fit in to our members' often busy schedules along with all of the other stuff we want to do.

So yeah, a number of stars would have to align to fulfill your request to any substantial degree. Possibilities should never be ruled out, but I, unfortunately, find this one unlikely. Sorry 😢
