'Unspottable' units

Recommended Posts

I want to have a few snipers in a mission who cannot be spotted by the map, cause that just kills the realism.

"enemy 6 o'clock bearing 047" when you cant even see the sniper.

Then they put waypoint down, find him, kill him.

Which leaves the gillie suit to 0 reason to use.

So, anyone know how I could do that?

i made a script years ago - via an add action - make the sniper friendly to AI for around 20 seconds - then you would have to wait a few minutes before you could run the addaction again. Also if you stood up during that 20 seconds the script would cancel and you would become enemy to AI again.

Have you tried setting camouflage to 0 (zero) on the snipers? Supposed to make them invisible to AI unless they fire.

Seemed to work fairly reliably in A2/CO with mods like "Infantry stealth and Recognition".

No idea if the v1.40 skill setting bug affects camouflage as well; I'm sticking with 1.38 for now.

Wanted it for pvp scenario, not sure if camo correlates to only AI.

and, I never even knew there was a command such as camo. Cool!

That's a config entry? not a command. If it's a pvp then using setCaptive as Moerder suggested might help, but bear in mind that that'll make the snipers civilian

Yea quick mistake, rlly not a huge deal in this thread since I understood what you meant anyway.

I havent actually made the mission yet, but will check it out Jshock.

I'm gonna call this thread to an end since the points have been hit.
