Key for the Ptich lever?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I rly love ArmA 3. The Rangefinder is just awesome. I also love the enhanced flight model, but for some reason I can't figure out how to put the pitch lever (located on the left side (near the left foot)) up and down.

Is there a specific key to do that? Since its hard to land without and if I reduce the RPM my helicopter starts spinning around in the air and I need to extend the RPM that the spinning stops.

Regards

There aren't any further controls and you can't alter turbine rpm in arma3; it's collective, cyclic and antitorque control only. Assuming you're using the AFM with all assists turned off (autotrim/rough landing/no wind etc) then you'll need to add antitorque input to stop the rotation; that said in my experience it's when you increase the collective you suffer torque rotation.

Are you suffering from vortex ring state from decending too quickly? I was under the impression this just started shaking the craft, radpidly increased decsent rate and reduced effectiveness of the controls until you regain lift although rotation might be a possible effect depending on situation.

@forteh:

Correct, as you said I have no assists online. I would say Elite Mode :D (I also play on highest difficulty)

I can make a Video on 02/11/2015 when I get my Internet back (relocation & stuff ^^).

My Chopper is not shaking, he is rly spinning around most likely to the left and then I need to extend RPM and the chopper becomes normal again.

Altough I don't know then how to land since I wanna reduce my height and land. But I think there is now way to do that without reducing RPM or?

If you're rotating to the left (anticlockwise) you need to apply left pedal to counteract this, when the rotor torque is high (when lifting off or increasing collective pitch sharply) the craft rotation will increase so you need to apply more pedal to keep it straight. Turning on the autotrim option will stop this happening but where's the fun in that if you have a decent pedal and joystick setup!

It almost sounds as though you have something bound to left pedal that you shouldn't, check the options and see if something has crept in there; quite often when binding controls I will accidentally add a trackir input because I have it turned on at the time. Simply delete any inputs that shouldn't be there. For example if you have accidentally bound the negative throttle axis on your joystick to left pedal then as you lower the collective (throttle) it will spin the craft, as you raise collective it will straighten up.

Don't forget that different helicopters spin in different directions based on which way the main rotor spins.

Whoops I think I forgot to say that I'm only flying with Mouse and keyboard and don't have any Pedals / Joystick atm :D Only thing I got is a XBOX One Controller + Cable to use it on PC :D

I will post my config of the flight model later after work & stuff (should be 9 or 10 pm for you). Then I can get better help. But anyway thanks for your help so far!

Personally I wouldn't want to be flying the afm with all assists off on a mouse/keyboard, I use a thrustmaster warthog hotas with pedals so got all bases covered with proper analogue axes - that said having all the equipment doesn't make me a great pilot but I'm learning :D

Try turning the autotrim on in the flight model settings and see if that alleviates the issue, without a true analogue axis you can alter and hold in a specific position I would have thought that trying to trim rotation without pedals would be pretty difficult.

I still think you might have something bound incorrectly :)
