Mods that should be DEFAULT AND Integrated (Patched) into ARMA 3 by default !

Recommended Posts

Thanks to the community, Bohiemia could learn alot from these mods that vastly improve ARMA. The developers should work with the modders to future enhance these mods and integrate them seamlessly into ARMAs default engine

Authentic Gameplay Modification (AGM) http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=25779

The AGM mod tries to achieve the maximum amount of authenticity possible in Arma 3 without sacrificing playability. REMOVES slugglish gameplay features and gives players more control of gameplay such as interaction menus (como rose)

Keys - Enhanced Interaction System http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=23304

An addon aimed at improving the way the player interacts with everything in ArmA. This is done with either scripting or modifications to the existing system. This is Part 1, which improves and reduces the number of actions that are available to a player. Many actions have been removed from the "action menu" and replaced with simple key strokes. It also makes configuring and referencing of the keyboard commands easier with the use of proper labeling and grouping.

AGM and NAS_Wind are already MANW finalists.

Oh, and if anyone's wondering, the OP already posted similar in the YouTube comments of all four finalist videos, he's basically just taking his venting here.

VVVV Exactly what I'm thinking.

Although better effects like Blastcore would be nice, any mod that adds complexity should stay as a mod. You may feel that the base AGM gameplay is fun the devvs have to balance realism vs gameplay to reach the widest audience as possible. Overly complex gameplay would alienate players. I think they have a decent balance for what is really a sim lite game.

Yet every new feature shows the opposite.

Inertia, Stamina, AFM, Bipods, all add complexity and the trend seems to be that Bohemia very much wants to increase the realism and complexity and depth of the game.

Still they aren't to the complexity of AGM with multiple explosive types and detonation devices, barrel overheating and switching, etc. BI no doubt wants to lean into the sim side, but there is a fine line to balance it all with gameplay.

Exactly, which is why he said Balanced. Think of it this way. The complexity BIS are adding to the game is justified, being that a ton of Original Arma players are slowly leaving. As it stands, Arma 3 is super simple, super straight forward. Got shot? Let me scroll on you and heal you to 75% health. The basic flight model's of Arma 3 is faster based compared to Arma 2's basic FM, and the introduction of the Advanced flight model brings a choice of More risk, but more flexibility vs, less risk and less flexibility with the basic Flight Model.

Additions such as the few ones BIS mentioned in the latest Opfrep/Sitrep, and Roadmap, provide details a to what a Majority of long time Arma players have asked for. 3D editor, better shooting mechanics, sounds, content, features, all making the game more complex, but certainly not with a major learning curve. It will take some getting used to, but that's good, because those are long awaited features, and with the way tr Gaming Industry is heading with "Next Gen", these are things that Arma should have had since the beginning. Don't get me wrong, I'm well aware of the issues.

As a whole, Arma is too simple. This Conplexity is what we need to keep a good game from getting boring and repetitive. As for mods? There are some mods designed to be just that, a mod. Let's take AGM for example, designed for PVP first. Take AI into the equation, something that should be for a Vanilla Arma 3 feature now turns into a metric ton of issues. Not to mention, it's TOO complex to be in the base game.

Now, on the contrary, there are a few mods that should be Vanilla content, unfortunately your going at the wrong angle. Sound for example is a big one. Look at what it sounded like in Alpha, Beta, then Release state. Essentially small changes that didn't make a difference, and shooting the same gun, let's take the MX, would cause literal headaches after a certain usage. Now look at what Laxemann has done with his mods. He's created a soundscape that would have been gold in Arma 3's environments. It doesn't need to be scripted for new maps, because it's built for terrain in general, the distance between certain hills, in valleys, different building locations causing sounds to bounce off those objects. This, is one mod that could possibly be in the Vanilla game IF there was little to no impact on hardware usage what so ever, and if it could be optimized to the point there would be no delays on a really lagged server. In any case though, mods will be mods.

Maybe BIS could learn from mods though, allowing their community to be as creative as it is, take some of that creativity and create their own innovations to ther game in ways that make it better. More in depth, but balanced.

They aren't AFM in itself is complex, the inertia system is quite complex. As for AGM the complexity it offers is one that I tend to find very user friendly and not as hardcore as say ACE mod.

AGM is the realism mod for the casuals it adds complexity and depth while being easy to jump into. Highly doubt the community would get confused or overwhelmed by agm they would learn it relatively quickly.
